I'm just very curious - since AMIDST is a tool & not a MOD - I'm puzzled on HOW it conflicts with Forge.....
What it DOES do is conflict with any modified minecraft.jar file.....
How hard is it to have a 'clean' minecraft.jar file & just copying it over (after renaming your existing minecraft.jar file of course) to use AMIDST, then just copying back your modded minecraft.jar afterwards ??
Because up until now I have not ever used forge so i decided to try it with Minecraft 1.4.2. Amidst worked before i installed forge and quit working after I installed it. My guess is that forge modifies the minecraft.jar in some way and thats why it won't work. As for that copying crap you mentioned.. its not that hard to do its just an inconvenient pain in the ass . And You don't need to be such a jerk about it.take a damn chill pill!

Forge renames some important stuff internally. So when AMIDST loads up your minecraft.jar and looks for obfuscated file names, it often can't find them in a modified copy.

I may be a jerk, but at least I know how to report a bug properly ..... (don't take offence but I think YOU should take a chill out pill though )
All that copying is a P.I.T.A, that's why I use Magic launcher now - it doesn't modify the minecraft.jar & so I can still use AMIDST without copying etc
I'm also guessing then you have manually installed forge into the actual minecraft.jar file (Unzipping minecraft.jar, adding the mod, delete meta_inf etc etc) instead of using something like Magic launcher or MCPatcher ??
If that is the case, then of course Forge has modified minecraft.jar - so does Modloader, or ANY type of patching tool - because you have overwritten/changed certain parts on the class files it contains... & AMIDST isn't programmed to recognize modified minecraft.jar
EDIT: Just seen Skidoodle post - NOW I understand how Forge modify minecraft.jar
In the early days of this tool I too had problems with this not working but that was with Modloader (Forge didn't have Modloader capabilities then) or when I used MCPatcher... it was all because of the modded minecraft.jar...
Anyway, Back on subject - 'proper bug report'
How can we guess at what your problem may be or how you might be able to fix them ??
I don't know what you do for a job (I know you're 45yo female), but how would you like it if you were, say a car mechanic, & people came in and say - 'my car don't work' each & every time... I think you would be a little frustrated hearing that several times a day
Would you prefer some1 came in and said 'When I turn the key, I hear the engine turn over but it doesn't start... if I keep the key turned I start to smell a burning smell like rubber so I release the key'...
I know what I'll prefer
- the second one would give a better idea to what might be wrong & narrow down where to start looking for the fault, It would also have narrowed down the number of possible solutions required to fix it
All I was doing is asking people to give a little more relevant info to their problem, so that we [on this thread] could get a better idea to what the problem may be & give a better educated solution on how to fix it so that your problem is fixed quicker... that is all
Hope that is a little less offensive & with less attitude for you
Might be a problem with the witch hut detection, I went to a spot AMIDST marked as a witch and found a desert pyramid there, in a swamp, no less. I have been finding pyramids in strange places lately, maybe they did something to the code? Anyway, seed is 414877230880747543 and witch / pyramid location is -144. -656. Thing is, the first time I went there, a witch was hanging out in front of the pyramid, but not hut to be found, so maybe the game thinks it spawned a hut when it actually made a pyramid? Might be a bug in Minecraft?
Going to the next location to see what's there.

To tell them how to live is to prevent them living.
Thank you for being awesome! One minor complaint: It saying "Witch" sounds like there's a single witch but actually the huts randomly spawn Witches. Still, this is an awesome program and thanks for updating so fast.
Yeah, I noticed that after I had released it. I imagine I'll go back and fix it before the next update, though. Hopefully people can figure it out.

From what I've heard, it's a bug. Since pyramids/witch huts/temples are all handled together, I assume it was just an oversight in the code. It seems to only occur sometimes. (I even noted it in the change log)
How does Slime Layer works?, i dont understand it very well.
Slimes can only spawn in specific chunks. (Chunks are a 16 x 16 x World Height area that the map is broken into) So the pink areas in AMIDST are chunks that slimes are allowed to spawn in.
For more information, check the minecraftwiki page here.

I see that now, heh, didn't read it before, but that kind of might lead a person to think that AMIDST will mark a witch hut as a pyramid, not that the game will spawn a pyramid instead of a hut by mistake.

So up until today, AMIDST (exe) has been working perfectly fine. So I'm off mining, explore massive cave, then decide to return home. Being completely lost, I turn to AMIDST to find the coordinates. (I know what the general area looks like.)
I run AMIDST to have the "jar mode w/out noverify" error pop out of nowhere... Befuddled, I decide to change it to a jar and run this little batch file
java -noverify -jar "%CD%\AMIDST.jar"
The same message comes up and I am certain that noverify is there. I don't know what happened or why it is just now doing so, but I re-downloaded twice. Any help?

"To run it in JAR mode, you'll need to add the -noverify flag."
How exactly do we do this as i have looked around the net for an answer and no matter where i put the text "java -noverify -jar AMIDST.jar" i still get the error: AMIDST ran in jar mode without -noverify etc etc.
Any help would be appreciated.
I have win 7
Thanks.
Are you two getting that error while using the EXE version?
Are you two getting that error while using the EXE version?
Just want to confirm, I'm getting the same issue while using the .exe version. I have Forge installed since some of the mods I used in 1.3.2 now require it instead of Modloader. Is it true that you can't run AMIDST.exe with Forge installed?
Let me clarify: I'm in Minecraft 1.4.2 with the latest version of Forge installed. When I run AMIDST.exe I get the following error message:
"AMIDST ran in JAR mode without -noverify!
Use: java -noverify -jar AMIDST.jar"
Any idea what to do here? I haven't found a solid solution yet. Thanks!
Are you two getting that error while using the EXE version?
I was using the exe at first, and it popped up. I tried jar mode afterwards with the noverify, but alas, nothing changed.
EDIT: I'm stupid, I just remembered that I installed Forge and some other mods to play on a friends server. I can't believe that I forgot... Disregard what I have previously posted.
EDIT AGAIN: Is there any way to change where it looks for the files?

There is a way to change where it looks... but it's not my favorite method.
If you launch AMIDST with no "%appdata%/.minecraft/bin/minecraft.jar" it'll prompt you to find one, and will always remember that path. (Until that .jar goes missing)

AMIDST works with mods if you install them with the magic launcher or at least it works for me.
And the reason is that Magic doesn't modify the actual minecraft.jar in any way.....
I'm not sure HOW it does it - but I assume it loads a copy of minecraft.jar into memory, adds the Mods (in memory) , delete the meta_inf (in memory) then runs it - leaving the original minecraft.jar stored on the HDD untouched

You're right. This is all my fault. I should have written the important things in the first post in giant red letters.... oh wait.
In all seriousness, it's an issue I'm working to resolve.

That's not suppose to be happening at all in the exe version!
I'll have to look into the issue further.
