The older version seems to work now, though the first of the three Strongholds is listed as "Invalid Biome."
I'm curious as to why the version of the Finder that works with the current Minecraft release would be hidden with a spoiler tag in a "previous versions" section, though. Not everyone is playing the 1.9 or 1.9-2 prereleases.
Because it's a previous version? v0.4.2 (the one that supports 1.8.1) ISN'T the newest version of this application. Nor does it have the features of the newest version.
Next on your list: Show Map for The Nether. You'll figure it out. :tongue.gif:
I don't even know if that's possible! D: Since the nether is all the same biome, I'd have to show a topographical map.. and even the current map viewers out right now only do that for chunks the game has already made.
Well if I put in a map it's just going to be pure red O_o
Set it up to only do a certain layer and make all areas not solid bluish maybe. You could also map gravel and glowstone locations just to give it diversity.

Here's the problem:
The only data I actually have it the biome map, so to get actually data on what block is where there's two options:
1.) Read the player's save data.
This is the easiest option, but unfortunately it means that we can only read the areas the player has already been to. And generally speaking, if you're trying to find something new, you haven't been there.
2.) Generate a temporary version of the world.
This is probably the option you're looking for... The problem is, not only is it WAY more complex, it requires a lot more time to compute, along with more memory. I'm sure I could do this, but it'd basically be simulating the entirety of minecraft.
Now, I know for a fact you have Java installed, otherwise you wouldn't be able to run minecraft.... so the next step it just to run the file in Java. Which should be as simple as right clicking->Open With->Java.
When I release the next version of this, (with the ability to find other things) I will provide a '.exe' '.app' and '.jar' version of it, so people won't ever have to worry again.
Quite sad that this wonderful sounding creation isn't working for me. I do have java installed, and just updated again to be sure. I have a limited software background, so some of this is a bit mysterious. Am on OSX 10.5.8 Here's what happens when right clicking on the .jar and selecting; Open With 'jar launcher (default)':

A search on the error turned up this answer to the same question by someone else:
"UnsupportedClassVersionError - there's your culprit. The class file was generated on a later version of the JDK than the JRE you're trying to run it on."
So my question is, what can I do to make this work for me? Is this a correctable error? Do I have to upgrade to 10.6? Any help will be appreciated.

It just so happens my laptop is running that exact version of Mac OS X. Lemme do some testing real fast and see what I can find :smile.gif:
Edit:
I take that back, apparently I'm running 10.6
But either way, what version of Java are you running?
The points on the map were accurate for me, MathMog. Did you look over the area to be sure?
On a different note: At least in SMP, Strongholds are HAUNTED. I went to the EXACT coordinates of the Stronghold, ended up inside a wall of a room. One way was just a cave, decided not to go that way. I went up the stairs. "... Wall?" I decided mining it might find more Stronghold. I dig about three blocks in the center, then decided to start setting up torches like I do to remember where I've been. I turn around, place a torch above the stairs. Turn back, place a torch on the right wall. Turn left, place a torch on the left wall. I turn back to the wall I was mining, I see a hallway turning right. First thought: Facing wrong way. Second thought: Wrong way in the stairs. Third thought: Frantically look around trying to figure out what just happened. It turned into a hallway! Worst part is, it happened a few more times, things changing in the split second I wasn't looking at them. It even happened right in front of my eyes. Almost every time, it made a ton of zombies appear. I'd see the center piece of those big 4 way rooms just disappear as I near them, followed by a zombie horde. One of the worst parts was getting lost and ending up back in the first room. I decided to check out the cave since I thought I checked everywhere... Now it was a hallway with a hole to a lava pool and... God it was scary. I got a friend to join, and she found the well room and library, which weren't even attached to the rest... Except I moved around, and ended up in a place I remember passing through... But it wasn't... God this place, Haunted Stronghold.
Just wan't to say that the program works well, with the cordinates and all that. And the maps is pretty good also, the only problem is just that the markers of both Villages and Strongholds are not very accurate. They are a totally different place than the cordinate. And it also highlight when pointing that the point where it is supposed to be :biggrin.gif:
Can you give instructions on how to reproduce this bug?

Plus, is ready the whole page THAT hard?
I refuse to put an old version on the front page. I'll just try to make a version selector in v1.1
Updated? It ONLY works in 1.9 xD (The biome map that is)
I added something in the F.A.Q. for it.
ALSO!
A NEW VERSION IS OUT!
Go check it out :smile.gif:
ALSO ALSO!
I added an announcements section... Because I can...

Looks like I'm running 1.5.0_30 from here: http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/13295/apple-java-for-mac-os-x-10.5
This is making me think I might have to upgrade to 10.6 to get a newer version of java. Is that the case?
Ah, there's the problem. You SHOULD be able to update to 1.6 just by the Software Update feature.
