Uhhhhh... should I have right clicked the stronghold finder or the MetaInf cause Uh... I right clicked META INF And it didnt show an open with. It also didnt show one when I rightclicked the Strongholdfinder.jar...
Awesome tool, only one was in new terrain for me though :/ *deletes some chunks and checks two spots* Two are found now just to make easy paths to them, third would be right in a giant cavern I mined out and started building in already though. Good to know I have some in my old world that I could actually get to, did a bit too much exploring before 1.8 and thought I wouldn't have any.

Update:
This will be working for the 1.9 pre-release within the day. (Probably the next few hours) I have solved the problem and just need to implement the UI again.
Quick poll: Would anyone be interested in me adding a village/ravine/mineshaft/ect. finder to this? If so, how would you suggest going about that (i.e., should you enter your coordinates, and get that of nearby ones, or should it just print out a map of them, or what?)
If Beta 1.9 has infinite Strongholds, why does v0.5 still only list 3 of them? Then again, not like I'd know if that's already implemented in the Pre-release. And it might need further revision when the full one launches.

The current 1.9 beta only has three strongholds. I'm already working on a version for the infinite strongholds (when they finally get released)
Edit:
Here's a screenshot of what I'm working on. Once I get village finding properly working, I'll move onto the other things. At the moment, most of the village coordinates come up with one, but some don't... Still looking into it.
(As always, any suggestions/ideas are welcome -- and yes, I only noticed the "object" typo after posting this...)
Specifically, I don't know how to make it behave like a program.
The download page says it's a .jar but what I get when I download it is a .zip, which I can open and look around in but all I see are a bunch of .class files and a .MF.
I downloaded version 4.2 and I'm running Minecraft version 1.8. In case anyone's curious, my seed is 1517752557301972403. I don't know what to do, and I feel like this is a ridiculously stupid question to ask but I just can't figure it out.

You and a lot of people have this problem... so I'll do my best to briefly explain why, and how to fix it:
A '.jar' file IS a '.zip'. So, on some computers, it'll say "OH! I know this one!" and open it as a zip file, which is completely useless to you.
Now, I know for a fact you have Java installed, otherwise you wouldn't be able to run minecraft.... so the next step it just to run the file in Java. Which should be as simple as right clicking->Open With->Java.
When I release the next version of this, (with the ability to find other things) I will provide a '.exe' '.app' and '.jar' version of it, so people won't ever have to worry again.

An Omni-finder would be awesome. A map would be neat, but over all I think coords would be more useful. Any way you can make it include y coords in it also? So I have an idea how far stuff is from the surface. As for how it would work, I guess default could search within 1000 blocks of spawn. You could include an option to change the 'start' point and how far of a radius it would search in. I say about 2500 blocks would be pleanty far for max search distance, maybe 5000 for large servers.

Hah, you should scroll up and look at the screenshot provided. As for 'y', it's gonna be a bit tricky... At the moment, my village finding is chunk based-- and so far it works, except includes some useless coords. I've figured out why, it's just a matter of fixing it.
Not sure about the map yet though, but it should be too hard, right? :tongue.gif:
Ideally, given enough time, there'd be a spot where you could select your save (multiplayer or singleplayer) and it would let you send people to whichever spot on the list you want. I'll keep working on it whenever I have free time. (Which is all the time right now!)
The stronghold finder
Cool thanks.
Are you using Beta 1.9 Pre?

Right click, and open with Java.

It is super accurate D:
So long as you use v0.5 for 1.9-pre and v4.2 for 1.8.1
It's accurate down to the last block!
Awwww, that's awful! :sad.gif:
Yes, it's the seed and unfortunately that just means you won't have any strongholds...
