Wow! This is a great app. Can I suggest a few interface tweaks to make it a little more user-friendly?
I could not find a legend for your colors. It would be nice to have one. At the very least, please allow users to mouseover the pie graph and get a tooltip on the biome name. If you have more time you could allow users to toggle the pie graph to a legend. Perhaps there's even space to display both in the sidebar simultaneously.
You use the currently installed version of minecraft by default. Since the biome generation code keeps changing, it could be very useful if we could specify our own jar file and hence specify another version.
Someone else already asked, but displaying dungeon locations and their types would also be a great addition.
And ravines.
I love the layers concept, but could you add Biomes, Players, Villages, (Dungeons, Ravines,) and Strongholds to that list so we can mix and match what we want to see better?
And maybe add a few more zoom levels? The default is great but I'd just like to be able to zoom in to get a better feel for distances.
What do you mean types of dungeons? Like broken or not? Cuz thats pretty much it. As for ui he is working on one, and telling what a biome is is easy, just mouse over the area.

Thanks so much for creating this.
You're very welcome, and I'll try to address all of your concerns with pretty much one answer.
I did attempt all those features, and they're still being worked on with 2.1. I started from scratch, allowing you to look at block generation, height maps, along with custom user "widgets."
The problem is, I'm broke. And this project, as fun as it is, does not pay my bills. My plan currently is to release something cool for the android market (which I've been working on), but until I can get that out, new features are on hold.
Program starts but I only see empty window and I can't push menu buttons. Tried to run .exe and .jar and have the same result
I just need coordinates of the nearest stronghold to spawn point for seed 1641574962352465034, version 1.0.0. Help please
I especially like how you can use it to view a much larger zone than what you can normally explore. It actually gives shape to what I initially thought of as a relatively formless generation of the world.
It does seem to lag a lot if you zoom out too far and it appears to have problems generating an image for anything around the 100,000 meter mark but overall I am liking this tool a lot.
+1 to you for making a program that allows a person to preview a seed's landmasses!
Having a blast with the program. Any chance for an update to the latest snapshot? I know it just came out.
I'm not sure where I can find out the name of the int class cache, so if someone knows it or how to find it and can post that would be helpful.
(If there's no reply on this when I come back from dinner, etc. in a few hours I'll post whatever I find when I get a chance to search the rest of this thread since I suspect this isn't an esoteric problem.)
Howdy! Warning: I am a bit of a noob. So, I am having a Mac issue. I enter the terminal command, and then it tells me that it is "unable to find minecraft.jar, please locate it." I then proceed to locate it manual, and then I get this message "Error loading minecraft.jpg." Any help?
If I start the exe,the new->from seed didn't work.
If I start the jar, with java -novertify -jar AMIDTS.jar, I see some error:
java.lang.NoSuchMethodException: nV.a()

when I try get a new->from seed, I see this:

Plase help me!
I think you spelled it wrong... AMIDST is the program name. I made a desktop icon that uses the command
"java -noverify -jar /home/wynn/Documents/AMIDST.jar"
It may be that you're using Windows so the command line reads a different language than the terminal of a Unix or GNU OS.It could also be using "-java -noverify -jar" instead of "java -noverify -jar". You could also need to define the directory as opposed to just asking it to use AMIDST. All shots in the dark (I'm no expert) good luck!
Poor Skidoodle gets all of the worst luck :sad.gif: New Snapshot out means people are going to want him to update it AGAIN, right after catching it up. Here's to hoping vanilla 1.2 comes soon so he can get a break. Also, am I the only one that notices the "update" button doesn't work?

The worst part is the development for the new major update. Every time something new comes out I have to change half the code @_@
As for the bug you replied to, it's caused by using an unsupported version of Minecraft.
(The update button only works if there is an update)
Is it just me or does the download link seem broken?
Nevermind, apparently I just can't use adf.ly at the moment. I had to use a parser to get past it, but the download worked afterwards. :sad.gif: sorry.
How dare you! I just lost $0.00147 because you didn't click that link!
(PS: Sorry I wasn't able to send you a direct download-- I really should read the comments more frequently)

Tell Norton to quarantine suspicious files rather than delete them. Then you can go into the quarantine and restore the download.
you can disable it long enough to DL it then fire it back up afterwards...
another option is to manually allow the file through in norton by changing the preferences/options for the allow/block list...

the problem is you're probably trying to select the minecraft image logo minecraft.jpg
Application Data\.minecraft\bin\ = minecraft.jar is what you are looking for not .jpg.
AMIDST does not currently support the new version, but it will within 24 hours most likely.
Very fast.
Thanks
