don't unrar downloaded file. Just open it with "Java(TM)Platform SE Library" - right click on .jar file and select "open with" option. The name can be a little different, I'm not running english version of windows
I used this program and stongestcraft and i found a stronghold in no time. Nothing was visible at surface through. There would be no way you would find this stronghold without cheating. I hope devs realise this.
im having this problem when i try start it as you say. i get an error saying "could not find the main class: C:\user\(name)\downloads\minecraft stronghold finder v2.jar. program will now exit" and thats when i open with the javaws. if i take the javaw. it starts it looks like a bat file kinda thing and just shuts down instant again?
could someone tell me what im doing wrong?
If someone would be so kind as to either make a video showing the usage of this, or perhaps direct me to a program that would do a good job screen recording, I'd love to make a tutorial.
Besides that, I'd like to cover a few things:
This has become a large concern with the application, the problem being that I'm only doing part of the calculations. When I looked through the obfuscated code, there was a large section referencing 20+ .java files (all with their own error messages), and while I'm doing my best to sort it all out, it's not simple.
Finding other things
I got lucky with Strongholds, there was a string with "Stronghold" written in the same file, but when it comes to mine shafts, or dungeons, or anything else really, I don't even know where to start. If someone could point me towards the right classes, or even what I should be looking for, I might be able to add it in.
This goes back to the whole issue of only partially running the code that dictates the position. It's my belief that after coming up with the initial number (what this application finds) that it then goes on to move it depending on the environment, biomes, and just other random things. So, while most of the time the original number is close, it can occasionally be very off.
I was about to come on hear and gripe about how there was nothing at the three coordinates. First one was a village and a ravine and abandoned mineshaft, the second and third only had abandoned mineshafts, no signs of strongholds. Then I read about using MCEdit, and lo and behold, there was a stronghold at position #1. But it was completely buried, no surface signs at all. Not to mention the stronghold itself was very poorly put together so... a bit unimpressive. It only had a single chest that I could find, with 2 apples and 5 bread.
Oh well. Thanks for the work putting into this, the strongholds could definitely stand to use a lot of work in their generation code, making something a bit more consistent.
