OP, just wanna say, I was here when you first started, and the last time I looked this up, it was still just the stronghold finder (three strongholds in the co-ords format). This project has come far beyond what I expected, and I want to thank you for all your hard work.

Well, I want to completely remove the current side bar. These "widgets" should be able to do anything the current side-bar does and more. Including user-input, and full access to the application's functions.
Sounds great, hopefully you'll get a release out soon :biggrin.gif:
Oh, thank Gods, FINALLY!
I've finally found a stronghold in my world, thanks to you.
I don't even care that it could be construed as cheating, because I was just tired of wandering the Earth and then using MCEdit to look underground... So yeah, I guess I was cheating anyway heh.
Still, this is a much-needed tool, and I'm glad you made it.
But... it's cheating with style... so it doesn't count.
So I downloaded this program, so I could maybe find a mushroom island, but for some reason the Amidst shows diffrent bimoes and stuff from the seed, than the StrongholdFinder 1.4.1, and I looked at a my personal map with Amidst and the seed was diffrent than the actual one for the world? Is this a bug or something? And how come I can chose "Fine Biome" beacuse I want to find a mushroom biome in my world but I can't seem to find one -.-
Well, amidst actually runs off of what minecraft.jar you have installed. Which means, if you made your map in 1.8.1 and are now running 1.0.0, it's not going to be accurate. I have some ideas for how to fix this, but nothing solid yet.

Why thank you. It helps to be unemployed, and surviving only by eating microwavable chicken and tea... And yet I still don't feel like I have enough time to do things.

I've been using your program for some time now and *love* it. I upgraded to version 1.0 a couple of weeks ago (as I'm sure everyone did!) and haven't had the chance to try out amidst until last night. I tried to map two worlds on a multiplayer server (I host a server here on my local network for my daughter and me to play), and neither of the worlds mapped correctly.
Each time I chose File-->New-->From Seed, and after entering the seed the corresponding map did not match our game. In both instances, where we supposedly were terrain-wise did not match the map, and in both worlds I tried to find villages shown and they were not there (I deleted the first world to try another since it didn't map correctly and I thought it might be a fluke). I used the older version for 1.9.3 and 1.9.4 and it worked perfectly locating everything (villages, strongholds, etc.) on single-player and multiplayer games, but I'm having difficulty with the new version. I'm assuming it's something I'm doing wrong since no one else seems to have any problems... any ideas?

It's a bit early so I can only hope I understood your problem correctly, but it sounds like you're using a 1.9.3 map while having 1.0.0 installed. AMIDST actually generates the map based on what version of minecraft you have currently installed.

I probably didn't explain that too well...! I just checked the server to be sure, and I'm using the Minecraft Server 1.0.0 software, as well as playing using the Minecraft 1.0.0. The worlds are new and were generated by the Minecraft 1.0.0 server (I didn't just copy the old worlds over... they are new).
The interface to Amidst had changed, so I wondered if I might be doing something wrong. I also didn't know if perhaps the server seed #'s are different from the single player seed #'s now, etc. I noticed something about actually reading the info from the world files... can I do that with the server world? Would I just install it on the same PC that the server is located?
Awesome tool. I find it really interesting that netherholds seem to generate in "strips" running north south. While I guess you'd only ever need to find one netherhold, it means that if you want to find more than one, you'd have better luck going north or south vs. east or west. It's also interesting to see that mushroom islands are pretty common, they're just waaaay out in the middle of the hugest oceans.
All 3 stronghold locations were already generated on my main world, so no strongholds for me. Stupid limit of 3 strongholds, all of them within 700 blocks of spawn too.
That's the same issue with me. In order to find a stronghold on my existing world I am going to have to delete chunks in the area where the stronghold is supposed to generate.
Hi, I would really like to use this mod, but unfortunately, it doesn't work on mac. I have no idea how to use command line, and I can't run it. Can you please tell me how I would run it from a folder on my desktop called "Minecraft Mods"?

open Terminal
type the following:
cd ~/Desktop/Minecraft\ Mods (note: there is a space after that second slash)
java -noverify -jar AMIDST.jar
Should do the trick.
Don't say it doesn't work when you simply don't understand how to use something.
Btw, thanks a lot Skidoodle for making this. Ran it just fine on my macbook pro and finally found some mushroom biomes on my friend's SMP server. We'd been hunting off and on for over a week with no luck until now.

I haven't had time to create a map and walk around to compare... maybe I'm just seeing things wrong. Let me tinker with it over the weekend and see if I have any luck.
Hello, I've started having a bit of an issue with the program. I'm operating version 2.0.16, and when I hit 'From file' and use my level.dat, nothing appears. I run into the same issue when using the seed 'Megaloneus', or any numeric seed.
I recall it working with version 2.0.15, though.
Oh, and to LaLand0fChocolate- The physical rivers in the game don't completely follow the biome boundaries of the rivers, so that's why they don't have a perfect correlation.

I am also having this problem (any seed I've tried or saved files)... though I am using a weekly build, that affect it? I am on Vista if that's relevant.
I have attempted to load from a map and from a seed and the screen simply remains blank. I am using minecraft 1.0.0.
I used the .jar so I could get an error report and this is what I got:

Mob Spawners would be far too abusive. People have already begun to shun the program for being too cheaty. Biomes, Strongholds, Villages, and Slime chunks is enough.

Sounds like a pretty good idea (and easy) I'll try to remember to add it.
