There's no diffrence between biomes in amplified and regular world generators (not sure about structures though), so you can just paste your seed and it's gonna work fine.
I agree, Amplified mode just affects the y axis of the world generated (makes the landscape taller) and Amidst ONLY maps the X and Z coordinates. There is no difference between a default mode Amidst map and the map that would be produced for an amplified world.
Now, I would expect that the world generator MIGHT find more structure locations to be unsuitable in amplified mode than in default so that the created world would have even less structures than predicted by Amidst.
EDIT: OK, I just tried doing a Ctrl-R in Amidst 3.4 and selecting amplified and got nothing.
So I agree, it doesn't work. However, as stated above, it doesn't matter. I wouldn't produce anything different from the map for a default world.

I am wondering if there is a way for me to input parameters regarding a mod created structure. Namely, I would love to see the frequency pattern of my own mod's wizard towers.
Mostly I want this so I can fine tune their frequency without having to gen a bunch of worlds and stumble around until I find a tower.

I figured out how to get it work: right click the app. Then show contents. After that you navigate into the resources folder. Then run the java file (jar).
I too got the problem with Amidst 3.4 not using mc 1.7.2 -- here is my solution:
- Since Amidst cant recognize mc172 it select a lesser "known" version, i.e. mc164.
- To pressure Amidst using only mc172, you have to temporarily remove all other mc-jar-folders from .minecraft\versions\ .
Then select your profile like "default'" and the Amidst titel bar will show "unknown version".
Now you'll able to find the new biom types like Mesa+Icepeaks.
Even "amplified" works fine as it should.

The AMIDST source is on bitbucket, the only way I can think of is to add the code to AMIDST to look at your mod's code and use it to calculate where the structures are. Sounds simple, but I'm sure it's not. It would be nice if AMIDST could read other mods and add the custom structures they create.

My code is actually pretty simple. At least to use, figuring it out in the first place was really hard. :X
It basically treats chunks like blocks to get "super chunk" coordinate and then performs exponent math on those coords, then modulos down to a remainder. If the remainder is 0, then that superchunk has a tower somewhere; which chunk of the superchunk is mathed out as well. It's a little bit more involved than that, but that's the basics.
I'll take a peek at AMIDST's source and see if I can put my doodlydad in and compile it.

You are aware, aren't you, that Amidst doesn't actually create ANY chunks at all. It only uses the part of the world generator of the version it is set for to make the biome map and get the first approximation of the locations of certain structures. There are no chunks to look at.
OBTW - this is my first post since my status change although the change is being reflected on all my previous posts also.

ha i was hoping it would still work like some other mods, but unfortunately this one doesnt
i was hoping if anyone knew an easy fix for this then id love to know, if not then ill wait
It works fine on 1.7.2 except for the amplified option. Don't know why you're getting the missing jar error. Be sure you run Minecraft at least once using the profile you're selecting in AMIDST so that it can download the game files for AMIDST to read from.
Other than that, use the debug version of AMIDST and post your error log here, use spoilers.

Most likely this is because of Gatekeeper. Try right clicking on Amidst and selecting "Open" instead of double-clicking. This should bypass Gatekeeper, although I'm not completely certain that's the problem.
Thanks for the help, but unfortunately that didn't work. Any other ideas, anyone?
You are aware, aren't you, that Amidst doesn't actually create ANY chunks at all.
...Yes...
But I don't need to create chunks in order to determine the location of my structure. I merely need to know the cooridinates. So the same way that floor(X / 16) = chunkX, floor(chunkX / radius) = superChunkX.
Which is sufficient information to get AMIDST to draw locations to the screen.
Here's the entire thing (x and y in this case are chunk coordinates), warning complex:
R = 6; //radius
mX = x / R //super-chunk coordinates
mY = y / R
bX = x % R //chunk coords within superchunk
bY = y % R
Z = bX + (bY * R)
Foo = (((mX+1) * mX + mY * mY + (int)Math.pow(1 + mX * mY, 3)) % 29); //massively complicated function that is very difficult to graph
if ( mX % 2 == 0 || mY %2 == 0 ) { //maintains a minimum distance (R chunks) between towers.
; //no tower
}
else if(Foo == Z) { //this check is essentially "which chunk in a super-chunk gets the tower"
//tower
}

Yeah, it's just math. Its just really difficult to graph, and that's ignoring biome restrictions.

My guess is that AMIDST *should* be able to do what you want, basically, you'd have to tell it to look for the jar file containing your mod's code, read that code to find the parts that determine where the tower is generated, then plot that on the current map using the seed, etc as it normally does from the main Minecraft code.
How you'd go about doing that is another thing. But I would imagine if you have the know-how to write the mod, you should be able to figure out where / how AMIDST does what it does and add the parts needed to make it do what you want.
