Norton would delete the file as soon as it finished downloading. If I prevented that from happening(which is not easy with Norton) it would delete when I tried to open it. This is what I had to do to get this installed:
I had to go through about 50 steps to turn off auto-delete, move the file to where I wanted it, go through 50 more steps to exclude the file from scans when I try to open it, turn auto-delete back on, click on the file, click the check box saying that this program is not a virus when Norton pops up, and tell Windows that it is okay to open.

I hate Norton.
I thought so too, until I ran Malwarebytes - which Curse recommended in response to the lockout last week. The result: my drive was clean, except AMIDST contained two trojans.
I really like AMIDST, but I won't be downloading it again unless this is addressed - and not just with promises.
And the reason is that Magic doesn't modify the actual minecraft.jar in any way.....
I'm not sure HOW it does it - but I assume it loads a copy of minecraft.jar into memory, adds the Mods (in memory) , delete the meta_inf (in memory) then runs it - leaving the original minecraft.jar stored on the HDD untouched
java allows for Classes to be loaded dynamically from different jar files (or zips). in theory, MagicLauncher isn't very complex. in practice, it most likely is (due to its compatability checking features).

Generally, when I download it, Norton will pop up a dialog (unless you have notifications turned off?) that asks what I want to do with the file, and I tell Norton to go mind it's own business and that AMIDST is safe. Which it is. Norton is just being paranoid because AMIDST isn't used by millions of people and thus can't be "trusted". Once enough people with Norton tell it that it can be trusted, it won't pop up a dialog or automatically delete the file.
If it is deleting the file without telling you, go to your Norton AV interface, find the quarantine area, and find the last download for AMIDST there and tell it to restore the file and trust it from now on.

Most likely, your copy of AMIDST was contaminated after you downloaded it by another trojan injector, or your version of Malwarebytes is outdated. Get a fresh copy of AMIDST and update Malwarebytes if you haven't already, and re-scan it.

Now isn't that weird - I just got a clean report too. I guess mine got better.
95% of teens would scream if Justin Beiber was about to jump of the top of the Empire State Building. If you are in the 5% that would grab a seat and some popcorn and yell JUMP! JUMP! JUMP! post this into your sig.You know you want too
May you please make it so that Admist can find dungeons too? or that to much to ask for?
btw if you say no and this post gets like 15 votes can you do it then?
or can u add the option to the layers tab?
Unfortunately, it's not as simple as just wanting the feature. It's probably the most requested thing here, I just don't have a good way of doing it yet.
hi!
I had the same problem as above! It was working fine, then I updated to minecraft 1.4.2 and it started giving me the blank screen.... Im also happy to help, I miss AMIDST too!
Thanks!
Anyone know how to download the program for Windows with Norton. Norton deletes the program on site :I.

Tell Norton to go mind it's own business. It has the "guilty until proven innocent" theory for new files that it hasn't seen before. Anyway, once it deletes the file, tell it to restore it and leave it alone from now on. Usually it pops up a dialog when it deletes the file, if not, go to the quarantine area and restore it from there.

Hello.
I was using AMIDST a lot before the 1.4 update and loving it, such a useful application.
But since 1.4 it just hasn't worked at all. Whatever I input, dat file or seed there is no response, it just stares at me with a blank expression. :/ As far as I can see it's working for everyone so it must a fault at my end, it's just weird it was working before. It doesn't crash or anything like that, just never displays a map after loading.
Please let me know what more info you might need from me to diagnose this problem because I really miss having AMIDST around.
Cheers

The most likely cause is that you have a modded minecraft.jar.
This is a great little program for Minecraft, I really like it ^^
Keep up your good work
But a comment on a bug that is happening, it occasionally stops loading the map and just freezes.
it seems to happen more when I'm zoomed out and move the map fast, not sure if it's my computer or a bug with the program.
Perhaps a refresh function is in order? not sure
EDIT:
To help with the bug fix, I'm running minecraft version 1.4.2, but always loading off a seed (Because it's a multiplayer server that I'm interested in)
And I'm on a Macbook pro running OS x 10.7.5
I'm having this issue when running Admist, where the drop downs don't work. I can still open up a world by moving my mouse where the drop down selections would be, but even after I get a world going, the bar on the right that shows the pie chart for biomes and the coordinates doesn't appear, which means I don't know where what I'm looking at is :/

AMIDST ran in JAR mode without -noverify!
Use: java -noverify -jar AMIDST.jar

To me, finding the spawner would be the better option.
