This doesn't seem to mark abandoned mines. Am I confused? Could this be changed?
AMIDST v2.0.x doesn't have the necessary info to detect them properly. A rewrite is underway and after it comes out then adding marks for abandoned mines might become possible. So far most people seem to think that the "big dirt room" would be the location to mark.
I've badly been wanting this to update for 12w37a. I'm trying to figure out where to go in my Minecraft world, going to go into the Nether most likely and make a portal far away from my main one, hopefully leading me to a place with snow, or Spruce trees, or Mooshrooms, or newly spawned Villages with carrots and potatoes.

AFAIK - the world generation code in Minecraft 12w37a is the same as in 1.3.2.....
Since there's been no 'new' structures added since then - I would assume the world created by 1.3.2 will still be the same in 12w37a
(although with the new 'superflat' option I guess it MIGHT change)
I know it's a pain but I would suggest that you could temporary swap your 'minecraft.jar' to a 1.3.2 version & use Amidst to examine your world for things of interest..make a note of the locations, then swap the minecraft.jar back to 12w37a
EDIT: Just checked My Seed on 12w37a - spawn still the same, Desert temple in same place... so I'm guessing it's the same world. So you should be OK
Hello sir! just wondering how the netherhold finder works, is there any way anyone could elaborate on that for me? Does it show you a location to place a portal that will then place you in a nether fortress, or is that the overlayed information for the actual nether that we cannot see throught the overworld? Plz help soon!

It shows the nether coordinates. So if you want a portal in the overworld to come out near the fortress then multiply by 8 to find where to build your portal.
Minecraft 1.3, AMIDST Version 2.0.38, Java's up to date (just checked as of this posting)
The only mods I'm using are Optifine and Forge at the moment.
Every time I try to enter in a seed, I just get a blank. I'm seeing this issue on the past few pages, so I'm guessing maybe this is some bug in the newest AMIDST version, or maybe AMIDST isn't compatible with the latest Java update?

Java is bulky, slow, hogs resources, passes out from exhaustion, and although it was big in the 90's is now typically only found on poorly designed websites. Much like Harry Knowles. So any time Minecraft crashes, blame Java.
Have you tried giving AMIDST an unmodded minecraft.jar to use?
Just tried that, same issue. I can access the AMIDST menus, but seed checking just generates a blank, no matter the seed.

Same problem here, same steps taken-- restored minecraft to its Forgeless state by using the whole 'Force Update' option. AMIDST is just giving me a grey screen. Used the EXE Windows version.
I'd also like to note Chrome thought AMIDST was a scam, for some reason. Asked me if I wanted to drop the download and all. Juuust saying.

Weird - just checked my setup & I've got no problems at all
Having 'forge' or 'Modloader' can cause problem though - IF you've stuck them into the minecraft.jar file 'manually'
I always use 'Magic loader' to install any MOD's - it keeps a clean Minecraft.jar file all the time
I'm using Windows XP 32-bit though - what are you 2 using ??

Win7 64bit here. Issue's not forge or modloader, happens with a clean jar too.

you could be right then... perhaps a problem with 64-bit Java..
.. guess it depends on what Kobayen is using... if 64-bit, it would tend to support the idea of java being a problem.....
Any way you could 'roll-back' to the previous JAVA 7 try again ??
If it works with older version @ least you can definitely say it IS Latest JAVA is causing a problem
I suppose you won't be updating to any of the new snapshots... Why? I want Amidst up and running for 12w38a so I can view biomes around my house again, because I plan on building a huge castle/ base, but I need a good place to build it.

so why not just use v1.3.2 ??
The world gonna be the same regardless of 1.3.2 or 12w38a.
No additional buildings have been added between the different versions so the Biome generation hasn't changed..
... in fact it hasn't changed since 12w03a.. I should know, my seed still works the same since THAT version

That usually happens because of an incompatible minecraft.jar; either an unsupported version or a modded jar.
There is more info linked from the checklist for when AMIDST doesn't work.
Short, easy-to-remember (ETR) seeds.

Blank screen USUALLY mean it can't use minecraft.jar for some reason to generate the map
