All im gonna say is like how is this not been posted on by like 100 different people.. This is a awsome tool. I just used it clean quick and had no problems. I also did take a quick look at the code just make sure theres nothing hidden in it that could cause or steal anytype of stuff and its all clean.
I recommend this to anyone that needs backups and then a way to restore it all without having to take your time to do it your self. THis tool is much quick and should be more popular. Also good to know you trust people with your code.. I so wouldnt lol, But good on you its a very good program and i hope you develop it more.
Mayby try combinding the two programs together rather then having two sept files? Depends if you find it easyier to edit it with two different ones. But i did put them together myself just incase you wont. But im not gonna put any link to it in anyway more just for my personal use of it saves having multiple files on my computer.
P.S Just incase people were wondering i acctully ran it will on minecraft (Not on a world) But i was on the world select part. So its cool to use if your on minecraft. Ill try why i play it and see if it still backs them up it should do.
EDIT: Hi, Just little update. About joining your two programs together i did it. Work fine with them together i also added couple more options into it and so on for more like what i need it for. Which is just backing up the minecraft.jar. So kind changed alot of things within the code. But like i said you worked hard on it and im not gonna put a link up. Unless i start with a fresh document and right one of my own but im a good coder just get bored as quick as anything and will give up on it lol...
Thanks!
The latest update adds a GUI, and merges the two programs. Too bad it needs to be installed and uses .NET framework 4.0.
Personally, I'm not surprised it's not that popular. I mean, it just got a GUI. Many people here don't know how to use the command line, no matter how straight forward it is. Hopefully that means it will get used more.
actually this is quite a decent and somple program for those who are afraid of messing up their .minecraft, here's some suggestions if you dont mind...
1. i noticed that the actual backup functions are on a separate batch script file and so you need to make people install using an installer, there's an easy workaround where you could make the application standalone (just the exe) by making your vb program write the batch script for you then delete the batch script when not needed
here's an example .net code on how to write a text file (sch as txt or bat) using string arrays and the StreamWriter method
Dim i As Integer
Dim inputstuff(2) As String
Dim listWriter As New System.IO.StreamWriter([your text file name and path here])
inputstuff(0) = "first line of text"
inputstuff(1) = "second line"
inputstuff(2) = "third line"
For w = 0 To 2
listWriter.WriteLine(inputstuff(i))
Next
listWriter.Close()
2. you could also try and make backing up the saves and texturepacks optional as saves take a long time to backup

Batch files are not used in the Visual Basic version. There are already options on what you would like to backup.
The problem with making it stand alone and just one EXE is that I have a DLL that is needed for it, along with a few other files. If I were to run it without installing it, those extra files would have to be in the same directory as the exe for it to operate.
ok...realised you used krypton suite and it's toolkit to create the application, that's why you need the dll...
umm not code it in microsoft visual studio?

I coded it in Visual Basic 2010 Express. Krypton suite just adds more looks, etc to VB 2010 Express.
1.4 Should include a way to name the backups (You will be able to have multiple backups now).
-You may now choose the name for the backup
-Multiple backups
-It's a manager now!
Thanks!

Thanks for the tips though :smile.gif:
