I have made this small tool to help you transfer saved games from one computer to another. There is no installation and it runs directly from the exe. This tool is compatible with all versions of Minecraft. Download it today!
A new version has been created. There is now a functional progress bar that allows you to see the progress of the import or export. The link in the main post has been updated.
I have been having some issues with my upload service. If you got an error page before try downloading it now. I am sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for downloading my tool.
Um, I have a Mac, and when I tried to export minecraft from my old mac to my new Mac (this happenned a while ago) I screwed up so I basically have to play vanilla no matter what... so if I download minecraft on my NEW computer I am getting, not a Mac, from minecraft.net, would it be like purchasing it for the first time all over again? P.s. I don't really care that I would have to start over again. A respond would ne nice... Thanks!

Sorry for the late response, I've been a bit busy lately. If I understand correctly, you are having trouble with transferring Minecraft to and from a Mac. Assuming this is what you mean, Mac puts out their own version of Java. Therefore there is actually a Mac version of Minecraft. Even though it is written in a language that should be able to be used on any computer, there are a couple of bugs in the Mac version of Java that require that Mojang changes a bit of the Minecraft code. This can be fixed by forcing update (let me know if you need help with that) or by deleting bin, resources, and version in your .minecraft folder and letting that part reinstall. (I can help with that too) If it is an issue with using this tool to transfer files, this program basically compresses it down into a format that only this program can understand (so it is in one file instead of a collection of files) therefore you need this program to import them. However, I think I am going to make this tool export and import to a zip file so you can transfer saves without this tool. I am also currently working on a complete Minecraft Management Suite that has this included.
Trying to transfer my minecraft info from a PC to a Mac. I put the saves file on a flash drive and brought it over to the Mac (OSX), but I don't know how to get the date from the saves folder into the game. Can you help?
It actually saves it as a different format that only the tool recognizes. I wrote this before I knew much about coding so I did it in a wierd format. I'm considering rewriting it.

No Problem. This just started out as a "see if I can do it" kind of thing. It worked and so I released it.
