haha Well, I'm going to be working on it for another hour or two tonight, but latest you'll have a version 1.0.0 tomorrow night. Maybe within the next couple of hours, but not entirely sure yet.
Making some progress, anyone have a suggestion for the first mod I should include? Maybe a modder just starting out that has a smaller mod who will allow me to use it in my MCCP? I don't need source or anything, just the zip.
Oh hey, I was considering doing something like this (well, only the mod manager part of things) for personal use before, to manage my more gameplay changing mods I don't like having active always. While I'm here I may as well shamelessy plug my faceview and ghastfires mods as incredibly simple mods that you could try.
But in any case, this is sounding really nice, and I hope that you can get all of it working in the end.

As well as doing that, include an option to, if you have the zip downloaded, just install from the zip. It would make things much less complicated with the copyrights.

Thanks, that'll be the one I test with! Thanks for the support!

Well, the reason I'm making the .mcmod file type is because there will be an "instruction" file which tells the MCCP where to put each file in the mod. There are mods that have things that need to go in the resources folder, and simply unzipping all contents from the zip file into minecraft.jar would not do. However, I will add the option, when you install a mod from your desktop I'll allow the user to choose either an mcmod file or a zip file, and the program will act accordingly. Thanks!
I cant wait but please include the wiki and also the blogs and tweets of notch. but only the tweets that talk about game please.
Thanks for the ideas! I was thinking about including pages from the wiki, but I'll have to contact someone about that. I would assume since it's open knowledge, I could copypasta articles? Any advice on that situation would be helpful. Also, as for blogs and tweets of Notch, beautiful idea. That will definitely be added.
Will the minecraft control panel have the ability to eliminate any mod incompatibilities when you use it to install mods that use the same edited class files?

Sorry if I don't understand your question exactly. Do you mean like making it so the class file will work for both mods? If it can be done manually I can add it into the program, however I wasn't aware you could tweak things to make 2 mods work if they share the same class file. I know that you can for block ID incompatibilities through property files, and I'll probably add that in to work automatically.

my question is basically will the minecraft control integrate the coding of both mods, if they both use the same class file, into one class file so that both mods can work at the same time.

Nope, that's a bit advanced and would involve decompiling the class files, merging specific parts of them, then compiling them again. Honestly I've never worked with anything like that, but I can sure try.

If you can't get a code algorithm to merge the coding of two different mods together into one class file to eliminate compatibility you can also just include a pop up warning if any of the mods will conflict. I also can't wait to see what your minecraft control panel will look like when its done. Good luck with the coding :happy.gif:
That was a good idea hamtaro said at the end of his post.
IDK how possible this would be, but bare with me.
You have multiple .jar files and this control panel can manage, and switch between them.
IF, the .jar file you have selected has been modified, you have someway to know what class files have been changed/added.
IF, you add a new mod onto the SAME .jar file, and it adds the same class file, or modifies the already existing one, you give a popup warning to make sure the user knows there could be compatibility issues.
Ofcourse there won't always be issues, and if it is ModLoader compatible this should only be necessary for mods which aren't ModLoader compatible.
I hope you understand where im coming from
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Updates need to be a thing we want, not despise.
1.8, bring it on!
haha I'm glad you like it so much! :biggrin.gif: If you do think of any better ideas, please do let me know. I want to make this thing as complete as possible.
btw, completely unrelated, but I lol'd at your avatar. I've seen it before, but that just cracks me up. haha
Glad you appreciate me! :biggrin.gif:
Anyway, If you need any help or anything let me know, although I can't do programming or anything of the sort, so I don't know how I would be able to help...
BTW I think you should go with xDivineInsanityx 's idea. Notifications about compatibility issues would be amazing!
It's very possible I will never see this thread again, unless you quote me. If you need me to see something, quote me on it.
Hey, hey you.
You know that plus button over there?
Yeah, the one above the MultiQuote thing.
If I made you laugh or was helpful or I'm just awesome like that, press it.

autoupdating maybe?
Already planned. :wink.gif:

I have a few ideas, but they'll have to wait until I figure out the Wi-Fi problems at my place.
