Please note, this page is pending a major rewrite. Embarrassingly, It has come to my attention that we did not in fact have permission to release the package from the Bukkit Team. My gravest apologies to all involved, while I believe a miscommunication between Xaanos and I is at fault, I accept full responsibility for the situation. I am hopeful to hear back from the Bukkit Team soon, but be advised I am considering shutting the project down after it's final 2.0.0 revision. zBukkit's purpose has always been to provide a temporary solution to server owners in the absence of zMod's 1.7.x update. In light of this new revelation (and considering that I am largely ill), I have found that my attempt to help out has been doing so in the wrong direction. My intent has never been to steal the spotlight from hard working developers, but I feel that my effort to ensure that proper credit was forwarded to its deserving recipients was outlandishly poor in spite of my good intentions. Given the circumstances, I will take the responsibility for my oversight and continue to seek advising from the Bukkit Team on where my effort should be directed. I hope that fellow members of the community can forgive my regrettably awful handling of this project.
EDIT TWO: Apparently my deliriousness from being ill made its way into my previous red-text post. Sorry for the over-dramatics, I was very tired and at the end of my capacity for rational thought. I will be continuing this project, so don't fear just yet! :biggrin.gif:
We miss you, Zaneris! In your absence, we've put this package together to help the users of your awesome server wrapper. In the meantime, this pack will act as a replacement solution for zMod server admins. Of course, credit for the contents of this kit is due to their respective owners. We are attempting to acquire permission for it's distribution.
PLEASE ADJUST EACH PLUGIN'S CONFIG BEFORE RUNNING THE SERVER.
THEY ARE SET UP TO MATCH ZMOD's DEFAULTS. EACH PLUGIN WILL HAVE IT'S OWN CONFIG FOLDER IN THE PLUGINS/ FOLDER.
This thread was originally part of Zaneris's thread. We don't want to take over his thread.
These are the features that are working:
Plugin Support - (bukkit plugins and ModLoaderMpServer with bukkit support)
Ingame/IRC Server Restarts
Lava Flow Restrictions
Stats (Tracks time spent on server, blocks placed/removed, shrines activated) - Disabled by default, but yes
Grief Alerts (Choose what actions notify staff)
Realtime Inventory Access (though no editing yet!)
Button Teleports - This one probably won't happen unless I can find a plugin to do it.
IRC Server Control - built into EpicChat, not configured (also broken).
Additionally, new features have been added:
Automated Backup, (default every 7 min)
Dynamic Map (default off, can be turned on; just part of optional package)
Multi-world Support (now built in)
Mobile Administration (default off, part of optional pack)
SimpleJail support (default off, part of optional pack)
iConomy support (default off, part of optional pack)
Advanced logging, by Log0.5.1 (optional)
Furthermore, we are considering and attempting to implement a number of features and helpful scripts:
Migration Utility - for migrating your zMod configurations/areas/warps/etc.
Setup tutorials - in addition to our livestream, we are considering prerecorded presentations
Setup Utility - to assist initial setup of zBukkit, configuration may be left to user (but then again, maybe not!)
zBukkit - zBukkit Team [SuperDigDug and Xaanos]
zMod - Zaneris
Bukkit Server - EvilSeph, lukegb, Tahg, Dinnerbone, Grum, sk89q, and Cogito
WorldEdit] - sk89q
WorldGuard - sk89q
CommandBook - sk89q
HeroChat - DThielke
HeroicDeath - SquallSeeD31
Backup - Meldanor
OpenInv - lishid
Spyder - nickguletskii
HelpPages - ToastedJelly
MyHome - spathizilla
SimpleJail - imjake9
iConomy - Nijikokun
MobileAdmin - Kaltner
Please thank the appropriate developers for creating the awesome plugins and server used to make this alternate package (i.e. bukkit and the plugin developers).

Great news to share with you today. We've been attempting to contact the various amazing developers behind the plugins and server we use in zBukkit, and we've had some success. Several of the developers have responded with a resounding "go for it," which makes our two-man team thrilled. Of course, certain conditions and criteria will have to be met, but as far the developers have only requested credit within our package. We will be updating non-essential files as well as a few important ones in the next update: the update will also contain the new Developer Credits document. In addition, we will directly credit the developers in our thread's main post. We're grateful to have such awesome developers on our side, and we will continue to provide help and support in every way we can.
Additionally, we'd of course like to credit Zaneris. While zBukkit arose to answer to the impatience of fellow forumites, zMod was meant to fulfill a need for a simple, sophisticated server wrapper. zBukkit is, and perhaps may continue to be, only a temporary replacement for what zMod is. We may have some pretty cool features built into the package, but we cannot claim the work behind them as our own; Zaneris took time and energy to build zMod and all of its components. We are simply trying to provide his followers with a temporary solution as he takes a well deserved vacation, and we are hopeful that upon his return his followers can transition back into the familiarity of zMod.
That being said, we hope to also maintain zBukkit (once we have all of the appropriate developers' permissions) beyond 1.7.x. For those of you who enjoyed our deployment kit, you are welcome to stay with us if you so desire. However, please keep your zMod configurations if you do plan to return to zMod. We can't be responsible for configurations lost in favor of zBukkit configurations.
Lastly, a side note on area protection. We have removed EpicZones, as it conflicts with WorldGuard; we may include the former in the optional plugins repository if you prefer. The reason we have migrated to WorldGuard (besides compatibility) is that WorldGuard's protection system is very similar to zMod's protection system. In short, it will be easier to transfer area coordinates from zMod into zBukkit. We are working on a procedure to do so, and perhaps later down the line we may include scripts that perform this transitioning task automatically.
We're setting up a /help command compatible with the package. In the meantime, if any readers are having configuration issues or just want to check out what the server can do through live demonstration, please join our (still-on-the-air) livestream. Link below:
