Ok so I got it to work just by uploading my level.dat file, but I don't know what the coordinate plane translates to in my game. I have a HUGE save file (60 Mb) so it could really be anywhere. Can anyone tell me how I can determine the location of a chunk from the plane into my world? Or is there a way I can see what my spawn point is as a central location?
(btw I saw something about there may be a problem for Mac users, but I did this on a Mac and it worked fine)
What happens when the World Seed has been changed at some point on my SMP map? Do the slimes spawn according to the new seed or do they spawn according to the old seed that generated the terrain you're standing in?
This is a fantastic mod! I accidentally deleted my world and had to start over just as slime balls became useful, so I was sort of stumped as to how to find slimes again so I could play with pistons. Thanks a bunch!
Could someone please post a picture/tell me some co-ordinates of where slimes will spawn in the ever poular "glacier" seed, I would do it myself but I am currently at work and don't know the numeric value of the seed.

no, they count as hostiles and share mob limit with them. however, they differ a lot from the rest.
so they don't spawn on peaceful.
but also, they don't despawn when switching to peaceful.
this can be used to force more slime spawns: just switch from anything to peaceful and back every now and then.
at some point in the code it seems like they wanted small slimes to spawn on peaceful. however, the algorithm doesn't even get that far if you're on peaceful.
Actually, Tiny slimes can spawn in Peaceful. All other slime sizes require Easy or higher difficulty levels. You can see this in the code just above seeding the random number generator.

Been idling the slime spawn room for some time now (I'm sure it's the right chunk, checked it)
Gone 24 meters away: Nothing
Gone <24 meters away: Nothing
Gone >24 metres away: Nothing
I am on a MP server btw, if that has something to say
:sad.gif:
I have some pics of the rooms, if there is anything wrong please tell me!

No, they can't - not naturally at least.
The code is something like this (MCP isnt out yet):
Main Spawning Algorithm:
for every mob type (neutral, hostile, water):
if (mob type == hostile AND difficulty != peaceful){
continue
}
....
So in other words, the (natural) algorithm doesn't even get to the point where small slimes are handled differently.
The check however, might affect other things, like slime spawning mob spawners. These do indeed only spawn small slimes on peaceful, because they don't go through the normal algorithm.

EDIT: Here is the F3 Menu, if it is necessarily.
maybe your hostile spawning is jamming. see if hostiles are spawning there if you kill the light.
in that case you should get spawns, about 10% of the amount other hostiles spawned there.
dont know what to say other than wait.
for ssp testing, you can also try putting slime spawners there, they go through the same chunk and height check.

not sure how changing seeds works, but i think it gets overridden for the whole map. so slime spawning chunks should change.
i dont get it,i've installed the up.class file, i play with the F3 presed and when it says slime:yes, what do i do next? start digging till i find slimes? plz reply back
You need to make a large room at layer 16 and below encompassing the entire area that shows as "yes". It also needs to be well lit.
After that just visit the room periodically and check for spawned slimes, but don't sit and wait, it's like watching water boil.

for clarification:
your y coordinate must be 16.6 or below. (the air block above the ground must be less than 16, so the ground they spawn on must be 14 or less.)
i updated the first post for some troubleshooting.
glad to see it turns out to be working in the end :wink.gif:

It has worked for me so far so if anyone else has trouble with the proper conditions met it still worked for at least one person.
YES it worked i made a room for the slimes took awhile went to go home to wait went back 1 big and medium slime awww yeah but they didn't drop any slime balls yet still waiting for more to spawn now.
It's not working. The mod works, but I dug a 16x16 cave where slimes can spawn, but I waited for a while about 40 blocks away, but when I came back, the cave was still completely empty. (The cave is sealed off. Is that what's wrong?)
However, monsters are still spawning everywhere, and there are still zombies in a natural cave that killed me.
And skeletons are spawning in my mine too. Am I doing something wrong?
did you do everything mentioned in the first post?
it can take reaaally long.
@Grewwwsum: did the medium/big slimes split? only small slimes drop 0-2 slimeballs, just like other mobs behave. big and medium slimes will split into 4 smaller slimes, but only if the last blow damages them exactly to zero health.
so dont attack them with a diamond sword or the like. Not sure though, which weapon works best, but fist is safe :biggrin.gif:

Thank you in advance

What browser are you using? Do other java applets work for you?
Eg try this site: http://www.w3.org/People/mimasa/test/object/java/clock . Clocks should appear there.
Normal mobs spawned there, almost got blowned up by a couple of creepers xD

Didn't work, no slimes spawns, ever :/
There is something wrong with your slime chunk detector mate :/
EDIT: Well ,after 2 hours of idleness, 2 slimes spawned :tongue.gif:
