I just downloaded the 1.7_01 version of the mod without reading any posts, and if I had I probably wouldn't even have tried the mod. But to counter some posts, it works for me =)
Just have to play the waiting game with "e" pressed in standing a couple of chunks away from my chunk-wide lit room for some more slimes to spawn =D
no, they count as hostiles and share mob limit with them. however, they differ a lot from the rest.
so they don't spawn on peaceful.
but also, they don't despawn when switching to peaceful.
this can be used to force more slime spawns: just switch from anything to peaceful and back every now and then.
at some point in the code it seems like they wanted small slimes to spawn on peaceful. however, the algorithm doesn't even get that far if you're on peaceful.

Thanks =)
Are there any other tips and tricks to force them to spawn? I've heard something about making several floors where slimes can spawn. Like from layer 4 (or 6 seen from the eyes of the player) to layer 9, with one block thick floor/roof, then build the same room above from layer 10 to 16.

the best way to build floors is to start at y=16.6 (your f3 coord), so that you stand on y=14 and the air block above is y=15 (lowest spot for them to spawn). then make 2 high rooms and go as low as you like. i think it'll be 4 floors before running into bedrock, maybe 3.
you can't make 1 high rooms. you'd need the ceiling to be of glass or anything non-opaque. but then they won't spawn on the room above, since they need opaque blocks to spawn on. so you could do this on the top floor, but medium slimes will just get stuck. so, just go with two high :wink.gif:
there's also a general issue with spawning and slimes. they don't despawn in mid-range (32m-128m) randomly after x sec. so if you idle long enough, slimes will mass up in caves.
either block all slime spawning spots or walk 250m and back to force those slimes to despawn.
Hmm. Am I doing something wrong here? I used the mod to locate a slime spawning chunk and dug out the entire 16x6 chunk. The spawning floor is at level 9 and the whole room is 5 blocks high. Do I need to enlarge the room to surrounding chunks? I got extremely lucky that I only ran into a little bit of lava but I know if I expand on two sides I'll be dealing with a lava lake. I have a feeling I may be too close to my hostile mob spawning area. I know they overlap but there's a 36 level difference between them. I may try to locate an area I found using the online app that in a 4x5 chunk area has about 7 slime spawning chunks. Time to start making some TNT...

you probably have to wait longer. but i think your hostile farm should even speed it up a bit.
did you double check? just use the online thing, set your seed and your coordinates (any coordinate inside the chunk) with distance = 0. that way, you'll only see the chunk of those coordinates.
you can walk around in minecraft as much as you'd like, just stay within 128m. if you go further away, they'll despawn.
Im not getting any slimes :sad.gif: I found three adjacent chunks that the mod said slimes spawned on, and hollowed them out 2 high:
Then I stood 30 blocks away and waited for an hour, but none appeared... Ive checked, and cleared out a few caves in the area too
I'm now getting an error when I try to load Minecraft.
It loads, gets to the Mojang Logo, and then gives me this error:

Hope that info might help :smile.gif:
EDIT: Didn't delete my META-IMF after new install. Shows you the importance of doing so!
Great mod, now for my slimes, please! :wink.gif:
ran into that too while testing it out :tongue.gif:
I've used the online one and found a 4 chunk area and I have actually no idea where exactly it is. I wish you could get like a coordinate to everyone of the grids. I have actually tried but until I get a fly mod or something else that makes me walk very fast I'm not trying to find it. lol
After letting it run over night, I got 2 slimes :smile.gif: And then they fell into the lava when I realized that and panicked trying to fill it in :sad.gif: Still, only 2 slimes is sort of wierd...

sorry i dont get what youre trying to say.. just use f3 and compare the coords. if it's too far away from you, find something closer. you dont need multiple chunks..
btw, mods seems to be working with the new update. it does, however, overvwrite the version that is displayed with f3.

It's just that when you're using the online one I can't really pinpoint where the chunks actually are because the range is too wide and I have no idea where is where. I guess that's for me to figure out later on. :tongue.gif:
is there any difference between single and multiplayer? can i find slimes on both?
yep.
well, if no other hostile mobs are spawning, it'll most likely be because of slimes elsewhere that don't despawn..
did you try going 260m in any direction and back again? this should despawn everything that there before.
on smp, it might be more complicated. if someone just keeps idling, more and more slimes will appear which could after a long time, take up most of the hostile mob slots, no matter how big the world is.
Just have to play the waiting game with "e" pressed in standing a couple of chunks away from my chunk-wide lit room for some more slimes to spawn =D
Btw, does slimes spawn on peaceful?

are you an peaceful? if so, change it.
otherwise try removing the torches to see if hostile mobs spawn.
My world seed is -9028489474908844496
it doesn't show anything if it runs into a problem at some point (wrong file, corrupt/outdated level.dat, uploading problems, ..).

That's exactly what I did after uploading. Still nothing.
yep.

this should really be fixed..
