This is a mod that allows you to change the bin folder in half a second. I got fed up with either switching back and forth between updates and or incompatible modded bin folders, so I created this. Before anyone says "This is a tool not a mod" I just want to explain that it is a mod because it has to mod the bin folder so that it can tell where to put it.
We now have Windows support thanks dsvnoble.
PREVIEW
I recommend you all open the video so you can see the description of the video because I included a little description of both of the programs in there.
This is a picture of the new universal multi bin. The set release date is unknown at the moment
READ!
I am working on a release of this that will be for mac, windows, and linux. It will be written in java so that almost any OS can use it. I will not take down the current windows or mac version, but it will just be another option.

Since I don't use any adfly links I would like to ask that you all do me a small favor since I have worked on this for hours. All I ask is that you take a second out of your busy life and look at my youtube channel. I do mainly minecraft videos like let's plays, seed of the week, and mod displays/installation tutorials, but I also do some programming tutorials and show off some programs I have made.

Windows
Please understand that this is not nearly that same as multibin this is more a bin managing system that allows you to duplicate your bin folder and many other features.
Minecraft Multi Bin is a tool that allows users to easily create, copy, rename, view,
and delete personal .Minecraft folders in a neat and orderly way.
Having more than one .Minecraft folder allows a user to keep all their Mods, Textures,
Saves, and Options unique from one another.
Advantages:
-Users testing a Mod (personal Mod or other) can create a new Profile folder, and add
the Mods to the new minecraft.jar, rather than risk messing up the previous one.
-Users who share a computer with friends or family members who also play Minecraft on
the same computer will not be forced to share Mods, Textures, Saves, or Options.
Disadvantages:
-Having the ability to create many .Minecraft folders quickly and easily can use up
alot of hard disk space (current version limits the number of profiles that
can be made)
Future releases are expected and may feature:
-A menu bar
-a different layout
-Tooltips
-help files
-An updater
-Custom Skins for your multibin (you're in control!)
-A fancy splash screen (for added style points)
-options for; changing the default batch file, re-fetching the Minecraft launcher,
re-download the multibin program, and/or changing the font. -a loading/waiting screen for when it might take a while to copy a profile.
-more if I get (or am given) any ideas!
Version Downloads: -Current Version 1.1c -http://adf.ly/2Z13k
-Version 1.1b - Failed Horribly!
-Version 1.1 - http://adf.ly/2UW3F
-Version 1.0 - Deleted and can no longer do bodily harm to you!
Version History:
Version 1.1c notes: New Features:
-Changed the name to "More Minecraft Folders" to better reflect what it does.
Fixes:
-Fix the batch writing method so it won't go to the original .minecraft folder
Known Bugs/Issues:
-No new bugs
Old Version Notes:
Version 1.1b notes: New features:
-Progress of a current action is now displayed in the lower-left corner.
Fixes:
-Renaming a profile is now just as fast as renaming a folder (as intended).
-Duplicating a profile with many files in it don't seem so slow now that you can
track it's progress in the lower-left corner :smile.gif:
-Files found in profiles that are "Read-Only" now can be deleted/renamed.
-Batch files are no longer ran using "Shell", now minecraft will load even if
parentheses are found in the current directory path.
Known Bugs/Issues:
-If the file directory path name length is tremendously long, then Profile creation,
Duplication, or Renaming may not succeed. Make sure to place The Minecraft Multi Bin
as close to the root drive as possible (i.e. C:\MinecraftMultiBin) or on the desktop.
-the batch file still seems to refuse to be different from default values...
-Clicking Play Minecraft sent the user to the old .minecraft folder rather than the
newly created one
Version 1.1 notes: New features:
-The MinecraftMultiBin.exe is now the only thing that comes packaged
-New Button for viewing inside the selected profile folder
-The "Play Minecraft" Button has been replaced by 2 buttons,
"Play Minecraft (no GUI)" and "Play Minecraft (with GUI)"
for those who need the console to show errors and such for mods.
-Limits raised: Profile Max is now 100 (still not confident of infinite bins idea yet),
Profile Name Length Max is now 40 (if you suggest longer I'll consider for future),
-Copied Folder Subs no longer stack (i.e. "Profile Name(1)(1)(1)(2)"),
-minecraft.jar file is required on the first run of the program.
If the minecraft.jar Launcher is found missing after the first run was successful,
a shiny new one will be fetched for you.
Fixes:
-the Default profile is no longer a permanent profile, it can be deleted.
If no profiles are found on running the program, a new default one will be made.
-Deleting a profile folder while using the multibin will no longer cause errors.
-Clicking rename, copy, or delete profile, while there isnt a profile will not cause
the program to crash anymore.
-fixed error involving the copy and rename button creating
extra folder that aren't added to the profile list.
-batch files no longer change back to default if you edit them.
Known Bugs/Issues:
-Rename Button still sometimes causes non life threatening unhandled exceptions.
-Duplicating a profile with a large amount of files in it can be slow (as expected),
I need to add a waiting screen for users to know that everything is working
and not just frozen forever (seemingly).
-the batch file for launching minecraft still allows very little customization.
-found out that files set as "Read-Only" will cause exceptions.
-found a new one... batch files ran in "Shell()" where the current directory path
contains parentheses '( )' cause the program to do nothing when user clicks play.

Please post any Ideas and/or Issues you have with the program!

Create a shortcut on your desktop, leading to minecraft appdata. Copy an paste the bin folder to whatever you want. Play by naming the selected one "bin", rather than "bin1", or "bin2".
I do understand that you are trying to help the community, but this is kind of useless in the sense of its purpose.

Well you can't call them nearly as easily this creates the specific folder you want to call it and then it allows you to move it in a lot easier. (I know it might not server the greatest purpose but it helps me and hopefully it will help everyone else)
Thank you lord! I have been needing something like this for forever!
Also, why don't you make it a dmg instead of a zip?
EDIT: It gives me the error "/Users/~Username~/Bin Switcher/customize/mainpage.txt: Not a directory". If you give me your applescript code I'll try to help.

I kind of like this... it works ok. However I would love if there was a way to create an alternate loader for each bin file. Like on PC you can create a bat file so you can edit witch .minecraft folder the minecraftloader.exe uses. This way you can make a custom loader for each version of the game. I know that it takes up more space but I've wanted this for awhile and If you new how to make one that would be steller. I know Adventure craft dose something like this with its own custom loader and jar and MyCraft also dose something similar so its not imposible. I just would have no Idea how to accomplish this. If you could do that I would be so happy :biggrin.gif:

That is actually originally what i tried to do, but I couldn't find the file that tells were the directory it uses is
Third party tool != a mod. Go to the Third Party Tools forum or whatever its called and post this there
But it does mod minecraft so it should be considered both, but to please you I will put go and a make a mod right now and post it in this forum topic so no one can complain about it being in release mods
Sandstone to Sand
Here is just a quick mod I made that tweaks the game so you can craft sandstone into 4 sand. It is modloader compatible
(I will be updating this soon) Pictures
Installation
mac users just copy this code into terminal, run the installer 1, drag in modloader and the mod, and run the installer 2
Code:
cd
cd desktop
mkdir "Installer By Alec_"
cd "Installer By Alec_"
touch "Installer 1.command"
echo "cd ~
mkdir installer
cd installer
jar xf ~/Library/Application\ Support/minecraft/bin/minecraft.jar
cd
open installer" > "Installer 1.command"
cd
cd desktop
cd "Installer By Alec_"
touch "Installer 2.command"
echo "cd
cd installer
rm META-INF/MOJANG_C.*
jar uf ~/Library/Application\ Support/minecraft/bin/minecraft.jar ./
cd
rm -r installer" > "Installer 2.command"
cd
cd desktop
cd "Installer By Alec_"
chmod +x "Installer 1.command"
chmod +x "Installer 2.command"
Windows Users:
1. hit the windows icon in the bottom left corner
2. search run and hit enter
3. type in %appdata%
4. go into the bin folder and unzip minecraft with winrar
I made the same thing a few days ago but it moves just the jars and allows a preset list to be made.
Oh and mine is for windows.
Thats what it looks like.
Only thing I don't like about yours is that you have to copy the entire bin folder for every version you want, the method I use allows you to have one folder with as many jars as you want in it and they can be named anything.
Then you run McLauncher, pick what one you want from the list and go.
I would like to know if you all think I should add in an automatic updater or if you think I should just release it as soon as possible.
Also if you would like to get a pre-release of it apply here http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/708719-multibin2-apply-for-a-prerelease/
