I don't have any distros of Linux on my computers so I don't immediately have the resources to compile for Linux. Also, 'approving posts' is a part of Minecraft Forum and is just an anti-spam feature until you get enough approved posts. As far as I know it's done by Minecraft Forum staff and not by users.

You're using a very old version of Java and ginbot86 appears to have compiled it against a newer one. Just update to JRE 7 and everything should work fine. (You should do that anyway, JRE 5 is extremely outdated.)
Ok, since the 1.6.4 i keep getting booted off the server everytime an effect wears off? The error is not always the same but it is always when a potion expires... ??? Any thoughts? (running Vanilla 1.6.4 with Gin's 1.6.4 Build on Win)
Actually I was running JRE6 (due to another issue) - I have installed JRE7 and you were correct - it now runs
SimpleServer is still JRE6 compatible. Gin is just building with a 7 JDK enforcing the requirement of JRE7. I went ahead and pushed a fix which builds the binaries as JRE6 compatible.

Looks like someone did report that a while back. I've been looking into fixing this, but right now, fixing this bug is beyond my current knowledge of Java.
Ok, So, now with 1.7.2 out, and it having the new commands and other features... How long do you guys think it be before SS is "Up to date"? I have several "features" i am waiting to implement on my server that require the new "tellraw" and "setblock" commands... REALLY excited to get them going Woot! can't wait!!
I REALLY need to learn JAVA, lol
And again, thanks to all you guys who keep this going. I really appreciate the work you put in!!

They redid the entire Protocol, this will take awhile. That being said, I finally joined a 1.7.2 server via SimpleServer last night. It crashed within a few seconds, but its progress. I need 1-2 weeks more.
I'll be in here: irc.euirc.net#SimpleServes until I figure this out. If anyone wants to join and exchange conversations, come on by.
EDIT: Here is my REPO before getting merged into master. I have about 40 packets to go and then I have to fix the entire Bot file. https://github.com/i...ommits/protocol
I think I can safely say I speak for many of us in the SS community when I say "Thanks for the fast work!!!" I know I at least really appreciate it. 1.7 holds the solutions to several of the problems i have been trying to "work around" and I am excited to be able to update to it.
So again, Thank You for you dedication and hard work!!
... Now if I can just figure out a way to display the value of a scoreboard objective in a tell ... I'd be golden!!!
This protocol rewrite is taking a long time. I'm thinking of just disabling some of the features (warp, instant destroy, teleport, bot). Until I can fix those up. This would allow a workable release to get out quicker.

Quick is nice, of course, But i would rather the release just be whole, even if it means it takes a bit longer... just my $ 0.02.

That would work for me, since I am mostly interested in user management.
What system specs are you running for your server? Also, are you using the vanilla Minecraft 1.6.4 jar or one like Bukkit?

I also incremented the version for the minor release and pushed an official update, see below.
SimpleServer 8.4.11 (1.6.4 MC) Official: http://ibotpeaches.com/simpleserver/1.6.4/SimpleServer.zip
Still does it... Any ideas guys?

On it. Give me a few hours.
EDIT: Fixed. Will push new jars soon.
( I linked bug reports and corresponding code commits so everyone can learn)

(Still 8.4.11, just hotfixed with those two)
