This program works great, but is there a way that you could allow more irregularly shaped mountain generation? As it is, only circular or square shapes can be raised out of the ground (that I've been able to figure out). It just seems that natural looking landscape could be formed more easily with irregular shapes. I don't know whether this would make it easier or harder, but you could add another tool that raises a patch of mountains within the radius of the selected region. Overall, this is an excellent design.

The thing is that if I made a very specific mountain tool, every mountain would look like that. The idea is to give some very generic tools so that you are flexible and can make mountains of any shape you want, even though it might be a bit more work. Try raising a mountain, and then dragging the mouse away from the summit while still holding down the button. You can make very realistic mountain ridges and ranges like that.
If you really want one click mountains, you could try finding a height map of a mountain online and using it as a custom brush. See this page for details about custom brushes. If you're going to use it with the Mountain tool it's important to make sure that the middle pixel is white (or at least very bright), otherwise it won't work well, or at all (although you don't have to use the Mountain tool, the Height tool should work equally well, at least if the surface is flat to begin with).
Cool program, I'm wondering if it's possible to erase forests or any other layers once you've started placing them. I've found that after I lay forests I've wanted to shave some of them away or create paths through them but found no way to actually do it.
If you right click with the layer you want to remove selected that might do it. Though every time I have tried it has removed all layers (biome forest ect).
No, right clicking only removes the selected layer. Although of course if you have automatic biomes enabled, the biome might also change.
Just for help with the Merge, I used it for the first time, and the only bugs I've noticed so far are that it made the caves a bit funky, and the trees are a bit off. But that's obliviously due to my flattening hills to make villages and such, so I don't think those really count. So it seems to work pretty well with simple tasks like that.
This bug will be fixed in the next release. It is caused by having an extremely low level world, so you can work around it by raising the level of your world a little.

I've been building high mountains, "walls", etc, and there is òne thing that is almostmaking me blow up.
And that, that is theSun, of all things!
So, I'm wondering, is there a button to remove the sun or do I just have to keep spending 50Minutes extra changing the direction, then change 3% before I change direction again for another 3%?
Hey, I was just wondering how it's possible to add custom made trees and litter them over the map by using worldpainter. Can't seem to figure that out. Does this go under the custom brush thing?

I'm not sure what you mean. Do you mean the sun in-game? WorldPainter has no control over that. There is no sun in WorldPainter, but perhaps you're referring to the directional lighting in the map view? I don't think it would be a good idea to turn that off. Think about it, without lighting it would be entirely black! And if you mean that you don't want the light to come from the side but straight from above: in that case there would be no shadows and therefore no way to see any differences in altitude. The entire map would be one solid colour with no way (other than the contour lines) to see which areas are raised or lowered.
It seems unlikely that you mean any of these things, so could you be a bit more specific?

No, you can do that with custom object layers, which you can add with the big + button on the layers panel. You can add custom trees in the form of both bo2 objects and schematics to your custom object layer, and then paint it on the landscape.
When I build tall mountains, the sun comes up one òne side, but the other side gets totally black from the shadow, making it impossible for me the see what I'm doing at that side.
I'm asking if it's a way to remove the shadow thing of the whole, maybe even the heated sun too.

If the side of your mountain is totally black, then you're making it way too steep. It will look like a spike in-game, not a mountain. But you can always rotate the light using the buttons on the toolbar or by pressing l or r. I think you're exaggerating a little when you say that takes 50 minutes and only allows you to do 3% more...
It is possible to have the water flowing after i export it, or do i have to go in minecraft and manually update every water block i want to be flowing? any help would be greatly appreciated.

I disagree. Me and my cousin are really into the idea of making public servers [has happened before too], and I make Huge-mega-mass mountains. But I think what Oddare needs help about is the rotating the light. I made a huge mountain range and needed to know how far down the stone would go [i prefer hand painted stone than the auto generated layers], so I found the light rotater very useful. its at the end of the tool bar at the top. And in earlier versions it made the mountains and hills look like they're inside out, so unless your using a version earlier than 0.11 or whenever it was changed, it'll work really well.

Nothing has changed about the way the lighting is rendered. The looking inside out is a psychological effect. Your brain is used to the light coming from above, so if you rotate it to come from below your brain interprets the shadows the wrong way around and the map looks like it's inverted. If you concentrate you can force your brain to interpret it the right way 'round though.

It should already be flowing. Note that it takes Minecraft a while (sometimes a long while) to notice that a water block should be flowing though, especially if there is a lot of it around.
i have notest a bit more lag with the new update what would that be form?
I don't know. I'm not aware of any changes which would cause an increase in lag. Could you be a bit more specific? Under exactly which circumstances (which tool, which layer or terrain type, which brush, what brush size, which biome scheme, custom biomes or not, etc.) does it lag?
One thing that causes lag is automatic biomes. Turning that off will make it noticeably quicker. If you still want automatic biomes in your map, you can turn it on just before exporting the map. It will ask whether you want to reinitialise the biomes. Say yes to have it calculate the automatic biomes for the entire map. Of course you will have to redo any manual biome modifications!
These maps can also be loaded onto a server.
It works fine on Windows 8, as far as I can tell. Are you talking about Windows RT, perhaps? Or maybe you need to use the other bit size?
