I am deeply sorry if this has been asked already. I tried to look around if someone had asked the same thing, but I can't figure out if you're able to create jungle the same way you can just paint normal and pine trees?
evoandroidevo is right, in addition I'd like to point out that by "paint a jungle layer" he means using the Biomes tool on the Layers panel to paint jungle biome. Don't forget to set the brush to a solid one and set the intensity slider all the way to the right when painting biomes.
%appdata% is not a valid file or directory name. It may work in some Windows programs, but it's not official or guaranteed to work. You need to find out what the actual directory is. One way you can do this is: press Windows Key+R, type "cmd" and press Enter and then type "echo %appdata%" and press Enter (everything without the quotes of course).
actually i believe that %appdata% is hard coded in windows just like %user% %windir% and %system%
it doesnt work for worldpainter as you cant type in the address to the file on the browser of worldpainter
I look to see if anyone had asked this and I didn't find a post so I apologize if it's already been answered.
I opened worldpainter.vmoptions with Notepad and put -Xmx1G in place of -Xmx512m. It says "access is denied" when I try to save. What should I open it with to be able to change 512m to 1g?

You have to run Notepad as Administrator (by right-clicking on it and choosing "run as administrator").
I'm running into a problem with the latest update. Whenever I go to make a new world file, I end up with a blank screen where the terrain should be. The terrain shows up in the 3d view. Saving, restarting and opening the world again still gives me a blank screen. Using the 32 bit on XP
EDIT: It doesn't seem to be going through the 'Generating World Image' phase. This happens on certain sized maps it seems. 40x40 tiles is what I was trying.
Hi i am very interested in this program you made, I first want to say thank you it is very unique and im sure it took you a long time to make :P. My question is, if i make 2-3 different maps and i want to load them all onto one server is that possible? What i mean is if i load one save into the world and that opens up and its there to play on. But then i want to load the next map without deleteing what already on the server. Is this possible? if not maybe you could find a way to include that in your next update?
You'll never be able to view from an arbitrary angle (45 degree angle isometric views are easy and fast to do, arbitrary angles are neither), but you can rotate the view 90 degrees clockwise by pressing r or anticlockwise by pressing l.

A few people have reported this. Unfortunately I have no idea what is going on. I can't reproduce it myself, and I can't explain why you would not get an error message. The fact that it happens with large worlds seems to point to a memory problem, but you really should get an error message if that's the case.
Regardless, have you tried increasing the memory allocation? Check this page for details of how to do that. Also, try updating your video driver to the latest version from the manufacturer's website.

I'm not sure what you mean either, but you seem to be talking about things that have nothing to do with WorldPainter. It has no control over loading maps into a Minecraft server, that is your own responsibility.
The vanilla Minecraft server can only load one world at a time. You can put different worlds in the server directory using different directory names, and switch between them by changing the level-name property in the server.properties file to the name of the directory of the world you want to play on. You have to stop and start the server to do that.
If you use CraftBukkit then there are plugins that allow you to have multiple worlds loaded at once, allowing you to move between them by walking through portals. Don't ask me how to do that though.
This is to let you know that I'm going to discontinue Java 5 support. It's just too much work and too restrictive, so from the next release you will need Java 6 or higher to be able to run WorldPainter. I know that some of you are on old versions of Mac OS X and can't upgrade to Java 6, and to you I apologise, but there are just too few of you to make it worthwhile, sorry!
Some people are porting Java 6 and 7 to older versions of Mac OS X at http://landonf.bikemonkey.org/static/soylatte/, you might want to check that out. I don't know if it will work though, and I can't help you out with it.
When I am exporting my worlds I keep getting error messeges every 30-60% complete. This has only happen recentaly and I have made maps before. These are the specific errors java.lang.NullPointerException and java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException.
Are you sure you're running the latest version? Check the version number on the About screen, it should be 0.6.12. If not, download the latest version from the first post.
If it still happens I'm going to need more information. Please use the email button on the error message popup to mail me the details of the error when it happens again. Without those details it's impossible for me to determine what's going wrong, especially since I am not currently aware of any bugs in the export process.
Yes I am running 0.6.12. and I have clicked the email detals every time, but I guess they haven't sent. If there is anything else that is strange I will post it.
The email button should open an email with the information I need already filled in, so if nothing happened when you clicked the button then nothing was sent. You need to have an email program installed and configured correctly. You can also send me the .world file you're trying to export (upload it to a file sharing site and send me the link) so I can take a look.

I think the issue with that is not everyone has say outlook express or has an email that can be pluged into an external program like it. I know hotmail and gmail don't allow you to use anything other then their sites to access email.

That's not true I have outlook 2010 and I use both my Gmail accounts with it and they work fine

Well it seems that upping the memory fixed the problem. I'm guessing that it's more memory intensive than it used to be.
I am deeply sorry if this has been asked already. I tried to look around if someone had asked the same thing, but I can't figure out if you're able to create jungle the same way you can just paint normal and pine trees?
Also, is it possible to change grass color like in normal minecraft between biomes. Changing biomes doesn't seem to change grass color.
It would greatly appreciated if someone could light up these two issues.
Painting Biomes will not change the appearance of grass inside of World Painter, not even in the 3D view, but it will be apparent on the generated map.
Jungles are nowhere near as simple as regular biomes, considering the number of tree types and the fact that most of the ground is covered in foliage as well, I can understand why it's been left out. (that is, unless that isn't an issue for some reason) However, painting the Jungle Biome and using the Populate Tool should perform the same function (logically). Either way, painting the biomes and letting Minecraft populate the terrain should do the same job. (Correct me if I'm wrong Chaos)
(I guess if you want jungle trees in your Taiga you'd be a bit stuck, but you could make the jungle, export, go in to Minecraft to populate the jungle (if you didn't use the Populate Tool), import, change the biome, and export only the biomes, then use a weather mod (Single Player Commands) to force rain/snow and then wait for it to happen. I wouldn't use the snow cover command, it makes it all in circles, which don't look natural. Anywho, hypotheticals aside...moving on.)

Like it's been said before, World Painter doesn't control that. However, since I do know how and I figure you aren't the only one who'd like an answer: you'd want to look into a Bukkit Server. You'd want at least the Essentials plugin set as well as something for world management and transportation between them. It would function much like the Nether, End, and Aether, with either a portal or some other form of trigger to transport you there. Large servers like VoxelBox and MassiveCraft build large ships and use a world management mod to place the triggers/teleports on them to make it seem more immersive. That's about as far off-topic as I'm willing to go, if you really want help, send me a PM.
Also, Chaos, I've been meaning to ask, when I recorded the video for the natural terrain tutorial, the Default Terrain options left me with nice, crisp edges at each height where the settings changed. That was the first update that included them, I forget the number. Then, two updates ago, I imported a map to apply similar settings and it seemed like there was a feathering or noise filter at the edges of each terrain type, namely on the coastlines. I tried with the beaches along the coast checkbox both unchecked and checked, couldn't get my crisp edge between grass and sand back unless I painted it manually. I haven't had a chance to test this in 6.12.
I've considered it being linked to the fact that the map was imported, as that has always been my issue in the past.
Another thing I've noticed is that, when a structure is on the map, and you remove the read only from it and change the terrain, it doesn't merge the new terrain correctly. The structure is there, but in ruins and meshed with the terrain. In my situation, there was also a large cavern I had made that was left mostly intact, but in shambles. My thought was that it would completely replace those chunks.

Is this kind of thing documented anywhere?

Not yet. Writing documentation is boring and a lot of work, I prefer to work on new features.

Having written my share, I agree...dead boring, but also damn useful.
Yep, I use Mozilla Thunderbird for GMail. Most e-mail providers allow some kind of external access.
A graceful fallback in case no e-mail is found would be a good idea though.
yeah... i know that problem, unfortunatly...
