I'm going to look into a little bugfix for 1.6.1 before i release the package.
I've done a lot of testing with my new scripts on Windows, OSX (snow leopard - its all i have access to), and on Ubuntu.
Does anyone have any other linux distros i should try it on? Maybe something not Debian-based?

I've noticed a couple more bugs/annoyances. I'll work on these before releasing a new major package.
I've run MLG successfully on Mint, openSUSE, and Fedora.
I tried to install Gentoo - but failed. the kernel (and initramfs) compile keeps failing. So, i gave up after 2 days trying to install it. MLG most likely would work on a working installation. I just cant test it myself.
(Note: I have successfully used Gentoo in the past. I just found it too annoying having to compile everything on install and update, so it didn't last too long.)
I also tried Slackware, but it wont boot after installation. I haven't tried fixing it yet.
Also I booted an Arch installation CD, but got bored with manually selecting every package i wanted to install. Gave up without installing.
I still have a few more distros that I want to try out. I still welcome any suggestions.

I've tried PC-BSD and OpenIndiana (a fork of Solaris), for a more unix-like test. they worked.

Just an update: I've updated the .jar on github to 1.6.11.
Not all my changes are there yet, but i've updated the estimated time remaining to be more accurate - it now uses every launch of the server (including the initial check launch), instead of the last 4 launches. While it does show an estimate on the first pass, it does take a few launches to become really accurate.
I've fixed a couple minor display bugs, and added how long it took to generate at the end. I also updated how the time is displayed so its more readable, and made it a function so there is less duplicated code.
I intend to fix a couple more things, such as adding some memory error notifications. (if, when in non-verbose mode, the server is launched, there is not enough memory for the server to initialize, there is no notification, and MLG will just rush through and try the next pass. -- other java launch issues will be added as well. -- if you currently are affected, or think you might be, use verbose or alternate mode to get these messages, and/or specify less memory to be used.)
does anyone have questions/comments? its just me posting my occasional updates on here lately! I'm getting a lot of downloads, but no posts... I guess no news is good news!

I'm surprised as well that there's not much feedback here, this is kind of a must-have tool!
Good to see that it's still active, i used it quiet often some time ago.
Going to try this one out with a Marcopolo's Better Ore Redistribution modded server to be able to preview the modified Ore generation.
yeah, i don't play much Minecraft anymore (don't have the time) but i still maintain MLG, and add new features when i have an idea, and/or some extra time. I know how MLG was so useful to me when i found the abandoned project, so i'm just keeping it around for others to share and use! (Its also been really helpful for me to learn Java.)
I try to check the forums at least once a day on weekdays (at lunch while at work). I also verify that all the snapshots and releases of the server work with MLG when they come out.

I'm thinking about localizing MLG using localization files (default will be in English if no files are found).
thoughts? anybody want MLG in their own language?

I can't seem to run it for some reason. I'm looking to expand a world using Exalm's NBXLite before I install mods which are incompatible with his (and therefore I will not be using his terrain generator when I use the mod), so I want my world expanded a lot before I do that.
I am running 32-bit Windows XP. I installed Java (1.)7 then the mod, as well as the server exe in MLG's folder. I ran the server and then replaced the server's world with my current one. I did not remove the headless=true thing because I installed Java 1.7. I ran Update_MLG_(windows), Update_server_(Windows), but when I ran Run_Server_(Windows), it flashed for like a millisecond then nothing happened. So I though "I've already ran the server, so I'll go ahead and run Run_MLG_(Windows)". I let it run, which it did ... for a millisecond, then closed. I waited a few minutes and still nothing happened.
What's going on? How can this be fixed?
try putting the command "pause" at the end of "Run_Server_(Windows)" this will let you see the problem.

So what exactly is the point of this program? I dont see anywhere in the OP about what this program does/is about...
it expands your world.
there are mulitple reasons - like reducing server load, or for mapping, etc.

Oops! my first test of 1.6.3 broke the main function of MLG! I'll update it tonight (5/31/2012, ~10pm Pacific Time) after i get off work. in the meantime, don't update with the update scripts!
(if you have updated, then remove the comments from "MinecraftLandGenerator.conf" and "server.properties" - lines that start with "#" - this will bypass the error.)
its a simple little fix, just a couple lines of code. (I forgot to add code that checks the validity of the location of "=" in the files. (#comment lines usually dont have an "=" sign, thus causing the error))

in case you were wondering, MLG does work with the newest snapshot 12w23b, along with every server released (except the buggy 1.9 servers) ever.
1.6.3 has been released, but i'm still adding more features. I'll push another update tonight probably. it will probably be the last 1.6.3 update.
1.7 is comming soon - it will have the last few features i want to add before creating 2.0 (at least this is the plan) which will have a GUI.
I will continue keeping the 1.6 version while I keep reorginizing the code to make it more readable. The source code had been in one giant class, so i'm parsing different sections into their own classes. this makes it much easier to work with.
If i want to add a GUI to MLG, I'm going to need this. every part of MLG in its own section of code.
MLG's GUI will be part of the existing program - not two seperate programs. I plan to have it work in either GUI or text-only within the same program.

they just worked for me. they go through adfly - it shows you an Advertisement for 5 seconds, and then you need to click [Skip Ad] in the upper corner. Maybe you use adblocking software?

I'm assuming this works with the latest version of Minecraft (1.2.5)?
Does this generate a world like the standard Minecraft Generator? Still going to get Random Villages, Dungeons and anything else that might be made by default? If so I might have to set this up to build a fairly nice sized map for my Server! that and I just want the Chunks to be generated already! Current map on Local Server seems to have Moutains that seems like they been cut in half and I know no one went and did that to them and its annoying so assuming it just generated wrong when someone got into range.
I'm guessing if I did a world like 10,000 x 10,000 if a player went past that point the world would get auto generated on the fly again? Not just going to end?
Only playing with around 5 of us on a server at once though so I don't imagine I need to generate 10,000 at once but not sure what would be good maybe 4,000? Also does something like ExtraBiomesXL work? If so just a matter of having the mod installed to the server when generating?

yes. if it's really old like alpha 1.1, you will need to add: to the command. For example:
