Very nice app, I created a fully generated map using 10000x and 10000z... and mapping it resulted in this 65mb png image...
yea, 65mb. (I had to scale it down to upload it lol, this is roughly 8% of the original image. lol, according to photoshop, the original image was almost 12ft by 12ft,
The world itself is 1.86gb uncompressed, 1.25gb at normal compression rates.
Rofl, this is just so much win that I archived my world, and am now making another 10k x 10k world to map. I wanna see how different or similar worlds can be...
So yea, Yoda, "Pure Win this application is, much force it has."
I just tried LandGenerator with BiomeTerran Mod, it worked as expected: desert 2000x2000
Actually when you run minecraft_server once, the only file you have to keep is server.properties, if you generate basic map you can keep everything but for custom map it will generate land with your special settings around a chunk of vanilla map which look weird when mapping.
I did what is explained in biometerrainmod readme (altinstall method), about landgenerator I just modified MinecraftLandGenerator.conf as follow:
Also land generation with BiomeTerran Mod takes more time.
true, true.
my basic steps are just a guideline. if you know what your doing, you can do more advanced things like this.

Got this running now lol, but I'm curious on something. the x and z values... when generating does it use these values to generate a number negative and positive of your spawn?
say i have spawn at 0,0, will it generate from spawn 0-10000x then 0-10000z OR -10000-10000x and -10000-10000z?
Granted I'll find out once it's done but that's like another 45min away lol. (I used x and z cause that's what it is, y is vertical where as z is depth, so as not to confuse anyone)
EDIT: I'm going to guess it may be generating -10000 to 10000 on x and z because.... it's got 30min left and saying my world dir is 1.5gb and going up lmao
a X and Y setting of 10000 will give you (roughly) 5000 north, 5000 east, 5000 south, and 5000 south of spawn

It will work on any computer that has java installed. Doesn't matter if its xp or mac or linux.
in theory, yes. due to differences in command line architectures, it only works in win 7, and the gui-based terminal in linux. (and probably mac as well, idk) the command prompt in XP and the real command line in linux (such as a server without a desktop or an SSH connection) doesnt work.
Edit: Win XP works, but not in NOGUI mode. Otherwise, post still valid.
I've tested this.
ANYWAYS, I'm glad everyone is enjoying this program!

Nice mod, bookmarking if my dream of owning a server ever comes true.

How to feel cool on Minecraft forums:
>New Feature is announced
>Begin claiming it ruins the game "MINECRAFT ISN'T A BED/DOG/HAVING FUN SIMULATOR, IT'S ABOUT STANDING IN YOUR HOUSE WITH NOTHING TO DO ALL DAY REMOVE EVERY FEATURE GUH"
I need help with getting this running. It might be because I'm not good with Java, but I just can't get this running. the installation steps aren't very clear. I've directed my command prompt to the folder I created but now what? I need this program, and thusly I'm very thankful for you taking the time to create it, but an installation file would've been useful.
Not working for me at all. I tried the instructions but when I generate a map it quickly races through the starting server sequence, never actually starting the server.
Minecraft Land Generator version 1.3.0
Uses a Minecraft server to generate square land of a specified size.
Processing world "c:\minecraft.world.generator\world", in 300 block increments,
with: java -Xmx1024M -cp BiomeTerrain.jar:minecraft_server.jar net.minecraft.se
rver.MinecraftServer nogui
Launching server once to make sure there is a world.
Starting server.
Backing up level.dat to level_backup.dat.
Spawn point detected: [50, -71]
Setting spawn to [-450, -571] (1/16)
Starting server.
Setting spawn to [-450, -271] (2/16)
Starting server.
Setting spawn to [-450, 29] (3/16)
Starting server.
Setting spawn to [-450, 329] (4/16)
Estimated time remaining: 0h0m1s
Starting server.
Setting spawn to [-150, -571] (5/16)
Estimated time remaining: 0h0m1s
Starting server.
The above takes about 1 second to run. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
I know this really isn't really related to generating, but does anyone know where i can find the mod that makes an invisible barrier around the perimeter of the world? So you can't keep walking/generating. You just hit a wall and can't walk anymore.
Just decided to post since it wasn't in the original post
If you are using a 64 bit version of windows then save this as a .bat in the same directory as the .jar, and instead of going through the command prompt run it instead
for the config file:
@ECHO OFF
IF /I "%PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE:~-2%"=="64" "%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe" -jar "MinecraftLandGenerator.jar" -conf
IF /I "%PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE:~-2%"=="86" java -jar "MinecraftLandGenerator.jar" -conf
PAUSE
To generate:
@ECHO OFF
IF /I "%PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE:~-2%"=="64" "%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe" -jar "MinecraftLandGenerator.jar" 100 100
IF /I "%PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE:~-2%"=="86" java -jar "MinecraftLandGenerator.jar" 100 100
PAUSE
ok im really confused with all this coding stuff, i want to make a singleplayer world with this but dont understand how all this directory path stuff works? can someone please explain this a little more simpler for a pc noob?

join the cow protecters, and take the pledge, for the benefit of cows:
I tried 1.2.0, didn't realize this thread existed. I modified the few places that required it, simple, since it was just a matter of changing the search string and learning about the .class file. I'm a C++ programmer, never fiddled with Java. Anyway, found this version and realized my work was wasted mostly, interesting intro to java I suppose. This program is handy.
Just as an example of how to use this jar file to generate maps with BiomeTerrainMod, here is how I have mine setup, there are other ways that work just the same. Just get the MinecraftLandGenerator.jar file, and make these two files in the folder with the jar:
Change all the settings to match your server setup. Takes about 4m to generate 2000x2000 with the latest biomterrainmod and .ini settings I've got. I'm using the latest JRE7 available online.
Seems to have worked with Win XP x64 but I had to run one additional step.
Before Launching the jar file with "java -jar MindcraftLandGenerator.jar 100 100"
you first need to run "java -jar MindcraftLandGenerator.jar -config"
so it can create a config file which then lets the previous command run without a hitch.
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\Minecraft Server>java -jar Minec
raftLandGenerator.jar 100 100
Minecraft Land Generator version 1.3.0
Uses a Minecraft server to generate square land of a specified size.
Could not find MinecraftLandGenerator.conf. It is recommended that you run the a
pplication with the -conf option to create it.
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\Minecraft Server>java -jar Minec

MinecraftLandGenerator.conf file created.
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\Minecraft Server>java -jar Minec

Minecraft Land Generator version 1.3.0
Uses a Minecraft server to generate square land of a specified size.
Processing world ".\world", in 300 block increments, with: java -Xms1024m -Xmx10
24m -jar minecraft_server.jar nogui
Launching server once to make sure there is a world.
Starting server.
Stopping server.
Backing up level.dat to level_backup.dat.
Spawn point detected: [15, 36]
Setting spawn to [-35, -14] (1/1)
Starting server.
Stopping server.
Finished generating chunks.
Restored original level.dat.
if this has been posted before I apologize, but this proves this can be run on SOME versions of XP :tongue.gif:

you know how they said its possible to get a surface area of 7x the size of the earth? i dare someone to attempt this , especially with the chunk updates.
That desert is amazing! Can you upload it for the single player crowd (and the lazy?).
I will most certainly must learn to make maps like this.
I didn't keep the first world so I generated a new 5000x5000 one : world.zip (217.37 MB), Map here
For this one I added Lapis Lazuli which is not in default settings.ini, but all credits go to dave11 who made this Desert Rivers settings.ini.
If you go out of this 5000x5000 map and you don't have BiomeTerrainMode Minecraft will generate basic landscape.
Many people love you right now. I will have you know I shared this with another forum and we are all very happy.

Thanks for this! I tried it but it still doesn't resolve my, "races quickly through server starts without actually starting the server".
Basically what I'm finding is that it sets the spawn point, says it's going to start the server ... then never actually does. Instead, it just leaps immediately to starting a new spawn point, continuing to set spawn points until it completes its route and ends. :sad.gif:
