I want to generate an amplified map with a certain seed. But I cant get it to work. It does not generate an amplified terrain. I've tried changing the server.properties. Nothing. I've tried to use a world i already made in minecraft (copied the entire folder over). Nothing.

What am I doing wrong?
First, i'm assuming all of the following are correct:
Vanilla minecraft
the correct minecraft server in in the MLG folder. (you removed the 1.5.2 server it auto-downloads.)
MinecraftLandGenerator.conf points to the server correctly.
MLG generates a normal world using the default settings.
The first step is to make sure the server is generating a amplified world.
Note: this setting (along with the other generation settings like "level-seed", "generate-structures", and "generator-settings") ONLY apply for the first launch. after that, they are written into the "level.dat" file, and the "level.dat" file supercedes any settings in server.properties.
So basically, if level.dat was made with DEFAULT, the world will be default even if you change the configuration.
so, with our changed server.properties, we launch the server and make a new map. if it is NOT amplified, then something went wrong. either server.properties is messed up or it wasn't a brand new save.
All good? run MLG. check the new areas. they will be amplified. if not, then something went horribly wrong.
taking an amplified single player map:
level.dat will say it is amplified. the server.properties setting for this doesn't matter.
make sure server.properties points to the right world. (thats the level-name setting) its easier to rename your world folder to "world"

Thanks, did all of the above, but tried it again step by step, and it workd. Thanks!

Whoo!
i suspect that the key here was that your level.dat had default instead of amplified in it.

Morlok8k, what ever happened to the other script that teleported a player instead of setting different spawn pints?
i have a simple demo of it made, but it has no error handling, and if you teleport too quickly, the server can crash.
honestly, because of the lack of server response, its not the greatest way to generate. but i guess for people that have a lot of mods, it would be better than using MLG due to the startup time.
I was actually thinking about working on that again. actually, i'm surprised nobody else has done this yet.
I've seen a few mods for world pre-generation here and there, and even an in-game commandblock script that teleports a player around.

Are you working on making this compatible with 1.8? Would love to get it setup on my server. Server keeps crashing when chunks are generated and I'm not sure why; I have 4gb of RAM dedicated to it.
How many times must it be said? If the Minecraft version has a MP server version it has a 99.9% chance of working. Please for the love of god quit asking people...

I keep getting the "OutOfBoundsException: -X" (where X is a different number, this has changed as I've tried removing/adding mods etc).
Yup, I'm trying to run it with mods. MLG throws me this error, but running it with Minecraft itself works perfectly. As of the fact that I have closer to 220 mods installed, it's not easy to track down which mods are doing it. However, if these mods turn out to take part in the world generation, I must have a fix coming from you, otherwise I will not be able to use the tool (which would be annoying considering the fact that even with my high-end PC I'm experiencing internal server lag spikes which can last up to an hour if too many chunks are generated at once).
Thanks in advance.

lets delete (or rename) any existing worlds.
lets look at a default "server.properties":
"level-type=DEFAULT" makes a normal world.
change it to "level-type=AMPLIFIED"

Yes, but I'm wondering about the 1.8 blocks being generated: Andesite Granite, Diorite, etc
I generated a bunch of chunks but could not find any of the three in the area generated.
Edit: replaced the minecraft_server file that came with it with the 1.8.3 server file. works.
