Yeah, that was easy for me to understand, but when MLG downloads the newest available minecraft server, it downloads 1.5.2 :/
yes this is normal the way MLG download the server file is the same as the OLD launcher so it can't download the newest one you need to download it yourself (here for the newest https://minecraft.net/download (the minecraft_server.1.7.5.jar link)) name it minecraft_server.jar and delete the one who MLG downloaded than do the same thing you did after the post of evilsupahfly and you should be ok
Alright, I ran MLG, downloaded the newest jar, deleted the old one and gave the new one the correct name. Then I clicked on Update_MLG_Windows and Update_Server_Windows and the new one I downloaded got replaced with a 1.5.2 jar. Why?
Each time you run one of the Update_* scripts, it will replace your existing minecraft_server.jar with the one it downloads (which is 1.5.2, at least until MLG can be told where to find the newer ones).
If you ran Update_MLG_Windows, then all you would have to do after is manually replace the server .jar and use Run_MLG_Windows from then on out and each time a new server is released by Mojang, download it yourself from The Official Download Page and replace your old one.
MLG will work with every Minecraft version. Even modded server .jars. All you need is the right version for your needs, and in point of reference, you can read my response to a similar question by clicking here.
The newest server version (1.7.5 as of this post) can always be downloaded from https://minecraft.net/download and if you want other versions, click the link in the first paragraph, just above.
The way you run MLG may differ depending upon whether or not you've modded your server, but it will work. I believe Page One of this thread tells you the various ways you can run MLG, as well as MLG having a very extensive built-in help system which can be accessed like so:
java -jar MinecraftLandGenerator.jar -help
And if you're still stuck, just ask here, though I would highly recommend reading the last ten pages of this thread first, as whatever issue you're likely having has probably already been solved.
i saw that but it wouldnt use the mods i gave it if i used minecraft forge

Sorry I'm so late getting back to you - life has been a little hectic lately with sick kids, sick wife, work, etc!
If you've modded the .jar with Forge's server version, MLG should incorporate the mods as they are part of the server runtime itself. All MLG does is place repeated calls to the server saying "Player Spawned at XXX/ZZZ" and Minecraft does the rest. So if your Forge mods aren't running, check their settings because as long as land is being generated, MLG is working properly.
That being said however, you may have to run MLG with the "Alternate" setting because some mods produce a lot of output which may confuse MLG. Details are in the readme packaged with MLG and on page one, as mentioned earlier.

ok Thanks for the help and why it wouldn't start was because wordpad kept reformating the config file hoping this works
i think it is so yay less lag on world gen also does this work for the deepdark and twilight forest dimensions?
If Deepdark and twilight generate their dimension only when you go on them then it will not work since MLG don't generate other dimension like for Mystcraft. But if the dimension generate a the same time as the server start up yes it will work (I think)
me having the same problem but people said on the feed the beast forums(modded minecraft latest build is 1.6.4) and it worked for them idk why it only generates a 1.5.2 world. but i need this program
i figured it outs its that you have to submit your own .jar for it to launch

Hey, i have no idea what the hell im looking at when i read the instructions, can someone like, make a tutorial on how to install, and use this? i just need it for single player.
Sorry to say that, but in the current form this tool is just crap. It is very difficult to use, if you do not run it exactly as intended by the author, it fails with various errors (partially silent), and it can't handle Forge servers.
Actually, it runs forge servers just fine. You just have to rename the forge server file to minecraft_server.jar and put it into the MLG folder along with the other files and folders that the forge server installs.
As I type this, I'm generating a 10k by 10k world with both the highlands mod and underground biomes constructs.

if you understand it well and keep having probleme with forge add -a to your command line it should help
So far, I can't get this to work with the latest Resonant Rise (using MC 1.6.4) on my single-player world, using Biomes O'Plenty. I'm probably doing something dumb. I copied my "save\ResRise01" world to my MLG directory and renamed it to "world", such that there is a "MLG/world/level.dat" and all that. I copied all of the files from the Resonant Rise instance's "bin" directory and renamed "minecraft.jar" to "minecraft_server.jar". Using this command line from the MLG directory:

I looked in the minecraft_server.jar file, and there is indeed no "net.minecraft.client.Main" class, even though the manifest points to it. No clue how Minecraft works. I thought I saw earlier in the thread while looking to see if anybody else had this issue that you use "-alt" with modded/Forge-ified MC. Didn't work without "-alt" either.
How does MLG find any mod jar files that's needed like Biomes O'Plenty or Thaumcraft?
How I can change the center point for my range when using this?
I'm stuck because my 20k x 20k map has been generated the most west column only ... and then it aborted.
So instead of retrying time by time taking the risk to always start over again, I want to split off everything to a 16 cell grid, doing each cell seperate. When giving only X and Z coordinate, how to manipulate the start of X and Z (top left position coordinates). Will it might orientate the center on the set home spawn point, or how does it work?

Assuming your 20k x 20k map starts at 0,0 you could break your grid up and determine the centre point of each section with a little simple math:
20,000 / 16 = 1,250
1,250 / 2 = 625
If your map starts at 0,0 you should be able to determine the centre point of each section by adding 1250 to the previous 625. Start your generating at 0,0 for 1250 blocks. This first section will go from X/Z -625 to X/Z 625.
Then add 1250 to the last boundary, making your next centre point X/Z +/- 1875. Keep going like that for +X and +Z and mirror it for -X and -Z by simply adding the "-". Once you have those done, you'll need to work out the diagonals.
Once you have the math done, make a batch file or shell script to run MLG at each centre point sequentially until it fails or finishes. If it fails, you'll know which section is the problem. If it finishes, you'll have a 20k x 20k map.
The specifics of how to start MLG at specific coordinates are located on Page 1.

Glad to help! Let us know how it turns out!
As long as MLG is calling a modded server .jar, then, yes. See Page 1 of this thread for options in running it with mods.

Well now... I'm curious to know how else you SHOULD run it, if not as intended...
