Does this work with the new minecraft update (even if I have to convert the maps)? Also, everytime it starts generating, it says that the program stops responding. Is this normal?
I could not get a 256 map to generate. Crashed at stars and lights near the end every time.
Enjoy the 128 version. no stars, has lights, 1/2, 1/2 air/water
AND
I deleted ALL of the bedrock surrounding the map, as requested. Let me know how it works out.
I'm playing RIFT too much to play MC for now.
I will make a post in the map generation forum with more maps of other stuff.
This is one of the coolest map generators I've seen (except maybe your other ones).
Unfortunately placing/mining at the edge of the bubble causes water to flow in. I flooded two islands just chopping down trees for wood.
Then i tried building a tunnel between two of the islands, which mostly worked, but when i went to make a second one i flooded that island too.
If there's no way to make the water stay put could you add an option to have a layer of glass to keep the water out? That could look cool on above water islands too.
EXACTLY i don't like open sky maps mostly cause you lose your stuff when you fall but having bubbles of glass is perfect.

Now you can edit things like island radius and air pocket size, among other things.
I tried to add multithreaded generation, but I decided agianst it due to a time constraint.
Big props to original author. If you do not trust this file, disassemble it.

:wink.gif: i was building lighting by putting trenches of water floored in jackolanterns and i thought hey! i know! this could be added to the mapgen. maybe like 1-wide glowing streams that go over in waterfalls, as an alternate or additional source of light (this produces a really cool effect. try it! :biggrin.gif:)
You are like the Risugami of map generators.
Maybe when you get lots of generators up, you could have a jack-of-all-trades generator where the first thing you select is which generator you want. That way people can have 1 generator for all of your generators (speachfail).

I I am the darkest shadow, the brightest light, the most dangerous advesary and the best ally. Choose your words wisely, for they may be your last.
Sorry that took so long. I had a funeral and a wedding to go to in there, and I ran into a stupid problem with compressing a stream in memory that took me a while to figure out.
The plan is to give Primordial Desert the same treatment next (it satisfies the same interface, so plugging in the new file engine is trivial, and I've been wanting to add some extra rooms and traps). Planetoids will likely follow, and then maybe Golden Tunnels if I can make it work (that one and the forest are tricky because they generate holistically).
After that I'll get back to the big new generator I've been planning.
Let me know if anyone has issues with this, especially if it crashes. I'm pretty sure I've ironed out all of the major bugs at this point.
This uses GZip compression (V1 compression for people who know the file format), which is fine for MineCraft and most tools, but seems to be incompatible with any of the tools written from the C source posted on Notch's blog (since that one discards anything compressed using that style). Minutor is an example. Chunks will show up in those tools as soon as you've "explored" them in the MineCraft client.
I'm using the GZip compression style because .Net has a built-in stream class for it, and I'm not wanting to distribute extra libraries with this.
Oh nice, Didn't know you had made this generator. I like the desert one so far the most but I still need to try this one out. Nice work and hope you plan to make more! :smile.gif:
Generating one right now.

Could be as simple as vertical chunk-shaped cliffs around a non-square border, or as complex as overhangs.
The underwater map is just stunning. I'm sad this will be ur last one for a while. But it's prob better to keep the current ones updated :smile.gif:
Here's me playing for a bit

But then again, I love all of your generators, so who knows ^^

Stormbyrd will prevail!
You have to have the generator INSIDE a folder.
