Unless you want to use WINE, I expect this wont ever get a full port to Linux. Especially if Gameslinder don't change how he attacks problems(No offense, think it as constructive criticism).
I will reiterate my problem. I was using Cartograph G before 1.3 and everything went well. My world is 444 MB. I have used the latest version of Cartograph G. When I press on render, the render log apears for about 10 seconds, then it closes down and I'm taken back to the .exe screen. Then I can press render again, but it does the same thing. I'm using Windows 7 x64 and I have 8 GB Ram. I'm lost.
EDIT : I tried indexing or cleaning out the cartograph G folder.
What's the name of your world?
If you used a custom name that may narrow it down.
Does the statistics file show up? It should be named after your world when trying to render it and is a .txt.
It may give a clue
My world is named world2. It shows up in the tab, no problem. The only file it produces is a world2.txt. When I open it up, the only thing written in the text file is : Error: Could not calculate dimension.

This is a new version that should not have the "only custom shows in world list" problem on Windows Vista or Windows 7.
For everyone that had this issue, please try this and report if it works.
If it does i'll release it as "latest version" on the first page, otherwise it's back to the drawing board for me first.
The updated version is reading my worlds properly. I still have the problem that the only map I can render is with the default settings. As soon as I change any of the features, the map fails to save although it shows the log screen as before. I'm running Windows 7 with the saves folder and all subfolders switched to allow indexing. Not sure what the problem is now. Can anyone help?
When I click render, it creates a renderjob0.bat file, which closes as soon as it is launched, but if screenshotted quickly enough, it says that "The system cannot execute the specified program." amongst other things. Any suggestions?
I figured out my custom world name issue. Seems I actually renamed the folder in my saves of one of my worlds and it's being read, the rest are just world1, world2, etc like normal.
So it seems Minecraft doesn't care if you rename your folders and neither does Cartograph, and it makes it a bit easier to figure out which save is which.

To tell them how to live is to prevent them living.
Yup. It was that exact same map that worked well before 1.3. It doesnt work in Normal and Oblique. Just tried isometric and it's not working either.
EDIT : Same error with Feb. 25th version.

When you say that before 1.3 everything went well, does that include rendering a map this big or is this the first time you try?
Before rendering it calculates the size of the final picture, if the width or height are calculated to be less than 1 pixel it quits with that error.
There may be an error in the calculation of these sizes that only manifests itself with huge numbers.
Does this happen on "Normal" style or just "Isometric"?
When I render my world, it just gives me a windows batch file named 'renderJob0'
When I open it, it just goes to command prompt and closes again.
What do?
I like this program so much, that I'm posting in this thread just so it will pop up in my ego search.
Seriously, I think the biggest thing I like is that how much of the guess work was taken out of the interface. Along with those advanced options that take out the manual work I had to do in image editors.

I figured out where to turn off automatic file delete now it will ask me every time. I just installed a new version of Norton and had to learn where everything was.
I can't use it, my Norton keeps deleting the render.exe file as a suspicious file. :sad.gif:
You get a big screen telling it that it got removed right? There should be an options tab at the bottom. Click that then restore the file and check the box "Exclude this file from future scans" or something like that.
I'm getting a C++ Runtime Error while rendering my map. The progress text file brings me to 99.47% completion every time before the program crashes. I'm running Vista using the Feb 27 version of Cartograph G, and am using the proper GUI, not the outdated one. The custom path to my save file was copied and pasted correctly, and another map renders just fine.
The map I'm trying to render is 500mbs. Is this too big for the program to handle? Is there any more information I need to provide?

Ah, so it's a RAM issue. Guess there's nothing to be done, thanks though. I'll try again on another machine with 4 gigs of ram, unless you know that won't be enough. Thanks for the quick reply!

I'm rendering my map piecemeal by having only a number of the mcr files in the world folder at a time. Each batch of region files I render overlap one another so it'll be easier for me to stitch the map together at the end.
Just an update in case anybody else is rendering a map this size. There's probably a more efficient method to do this...
