Can you make it compatible with mac? If not please tell me a way of how to do it ? Please im mac user and installing mods is very hard for me
it should Just Work (tm)
if not, open up terminal, type 'java -jar ' (notice the extra space at the end!), drag and drop the jar onto the terminal, and hit enter. do whatever went wrong, then copy and paste what's on the terminal into a [code].

If this ends up working for multiplatforms I'll love you long time.
worked just fine in my simple crossplatform tests...
I'm designing it to Just Work cross platform, I see no reason that it shouldn't, aside from dumb bugs. for instance, it has an override so that it never deletes META-INF (which is required by the jar spec, and unsurprisingly required by some java runtimes - for instance, the mac one), but rather only deletes the META-INF/MOJANG* files.

Can you add a local package installer? I have a few mods that I can create packages with, but I can't install the packages. So maybe you could make a custom packages section, where there would be an add button, that would allow to select an archive? then the archive would be added to your list under the "custom" category.

approves of your work.
yeah, that would require the packages to have internal metadata. which I'll have soon. note that this is still WIP (sigh, it's been three weeks, I want something I can use already ...)
I may have forgotten to add a way to deal with mod upgrades. and it can't deal with minecraft upgrades either. there is one coming up, too. I swear this is fighting me to not get done :sad.gif:
at the moment what you can do is make an index using file:/// urls. this is how I've been testing.

This sounds great! It might even tip TFC off the mod manager throne.
No offence to TFC of course
this isn't a "mod manager". it's a "minecraft package manager", and I stick "mod" in there so people get the idea that it can be used for that. for all it knows, you're installing texture packs (can be done right now but are kinda icky to do), or hell you might even be installing the latest lwjgl.
this is about everything being right there, in mcpkg. you don't have to open your webbrowser to install a mod.

Lahwran:
You're doing fantastic. The problems I've always had with Minecraft management are getting stale. The only one that has worked for me so far is Minecrafter. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing this completed.
TimFromCollege:
Your mod manager is great as well. Reminds me of OBMM. But I'm not sure what goes wrong when I use your Mod Manager. I always end up with a black screen, even when the same mods work with Minecrafter. But alas, without an error log I've nothing to submit.
Both:
Both of you are doing amazing. It'd be great if the both of you actually pulled your resources together and worked on a culmination of both of your efforts thus far.
The way Lahwran's handles mods sounds amazing. But TFC's UI is very accessible and very user friendly.
You both would, without a shadow of a doubt, benefit from working together.
third release testing!
note that if it takes a really long time to back up, force close it, with however your OS provides to do so. it probably is backing up your saves if it takes a really long time - this will make it basically unusable. if this happens, please report it here.
-- you may also want to back up your .minecraft while this is in testing - should only be a few hours -- Link Removed
EDIT: note that this is not capable of dealing with minecraft updates correctly quite yet - waiting on the new launcher for that. there will be a new release when the new launcher comes out.

Ok, i hit RuneMinecraft up on top, it starts to do its thing. On the bottom left it goes, deletesignatures, modloaders, moreblockids, guiapi. After guiapi it gives this error and stops.
ModConflict: File 'GuiModScreen.class' conflicts with vanilla

This is on revision 3 btw of mcpkg.
edit: "Clean install of MC." - I managed to miss that ... so I'm not sure what's wrong, assuming it was really clean.
you had guiapi installed manually. you're going to have to go into .mcpkg/backups/ and delete the backup (don't worry, since it errored it hasn't touched your .minecraft yet). because of the number of times this has occured now (that is, needing to delete a backup and try again) I'll probably add a button for it somewhere. at the moment I'm working on my other mods because I've been ignoring them for so long.
anyway once you've deleted the backup (the backup is where it installs from, you see), then make your .minecraft vanilla. it won't work unless you do.
also, any issues you find, please check this list: https://github.com/lahwran/mcpkg/issues
if you find the same issue there, or a very similar issue, leave a comment or vote it up. if you don't find the issue on the list, then add it. you'll probably need a github account to do anything more than look at the list.

One thing i just thought of, so here's story time! :wink.gif:
I just installed MC about 3'ish day's ago i think. That is after doing my 6 month fresh install of windows i always seem to do. I saw this when it came up and didnt mess untill rev 3 came out. I had that error before, so i nuked my .minecraft folder, so thats where i was thinking i was "clean" at. I did have a .mcpkg with a backup of 1.2_02 and in the main directory a tmp1 and tmp2 which holds the the same files it apears.
So while my .mc was clean, there might have been residual from the .mcp that could be make the error continue, even tho its not really there.
If i can wake up ill dive into this more today (stupid dwarf Fort ).
A question for you tho. I know the update part work and is pending a new launcher or something from what i recall being said. When that does get put into a working state, are you going to let the user decide to update or hold off and play with there current version?
Ok I am confused I have in the queue modloader and deletesignatures and then when I hit runminecraft it does its thing and then it says "ModConflict: file 'basemod.class' conflicts with vanilla" if I am being stupid and missing somthing obviouse please tell me that I am stupid AND what I am missing. Thank you in advance-zorac56

that is not true his problem was "File 'GuiModScreen.class' conflicts with vanilla and mine is "basemod.class" conflicts with vanilla. I guess that may be the same in some programish way but I am not a progammer so ok. Oh and by the way could it be that I have Mo'creatures already installed? I saw a video on I think Ipodmail showing off plasticcraft and he also had Mo'creatures so I am not sure. ty in advance (again)-zorac56

When MCPKG is making a backup, it copies the saves folder.
This makes backups take OH-SO-LONG, as you know.
k, thanks. I'll get to it as soon as status colorcoding works, which won't take too long.
