Where has Zaneris said that zMod is dead?
Show me, please.
The OP clearly says he is updating it - and 1.3 is extremely buggy. I'm not surprised it's taking this long.
Don't go saying that things are dead until we get an official conformation, please.
Come on guys, you dont need troll so much about this,as 1.2 IS extremely buggy and zan must be having a hard time dont so. You dont need to get this angry about. How about you try and make a server mod that is this good. Its that good that i use it on my server, instead of bukkit or any other mods. So everyone just keep it together and zan will update it soon. Because if you talk so much on this thread about how badly you want the 1.3 update, show him support, donate or just keep on posting positve comments!
So I'm willing to take a look at the code and see if I can update it if someone is willing to post links to a decompiler since google is failing me.
zMod isn't open source, so isn't it illegal, or at least unethical to just open Zans code and alter it? I'm not usually the one to ask that, but yeah. I'd just start from scratch, make a basic mod with the essentials from zMod and write it. hell, I can even help you if you start from scratch. And if Zan returns from his vacation or is resurrected, then we can stop and use zMod again. But I wouldn't take his code...
Leon, just saying, if you could do that, I would love you forever.
But if you could do that AND make it bukkit compatible...
I'm an amature programmer in the extreme sense of the word. And Bukkit confuses me to no end currently.

I agree that it would be unethical to use his code and alter it. What I want to decompile his code for was so I can see how he wrote it and, like you said, make the basics of it work from what is there. I really only know C++ and from what I have seen, in the hour I spent trying to open it, you can't open a .class file in visual basic.
And if you are willing to help me with it and teach me a bit, I am more than willing to learn. Just be aware I am a full time student and my work load can get a bit crazy.

I'm in a programming class and have been for 6 months learning java. PM me an email or MSN info or something, we can talk later. I'm not sure how open source works, but I believe it would be better to find an open source mod and look at their code, see how they do it. I'm nowhere near an expert at java but if we put our minds together we can probably make a simple mod, and grow from there. Until Zan returns, as proclaimed by the holy prophet. then we can go back to zMod. :smile.gif: Anyone else able to help? PM me. I'll try to start some group... Until zan returns.

It is not illegal to decompile and recompile peoples work if your editing the code and posting both credit to the orignal code along with detail of what you did to the code.

Talking from experience working on code for a mmo from a major distributor (Nexon) working on mods for there game and they know there out there but they don't mind them they prefer people to use them tbh because they are really lazy.

If I have helped you or made you laugh return a token of your gratitude and +rep me. --->
If he still hasn't been seen in a week or so, I'll start updating it.
I wanna give Zan as much time as I can, though, because I don't want to be responsible for his code =/
