Umm. for some reason on my 128x128 when I walk in certain areas certain ways, my game crashes. If a walk to one volcanic cone forwards from my spawn, it crashes, but I found out that I could walk to it backwards or take an indirect route. Whats happening? I deleted the world because it was giving me so much trouble and I'm generating a new one now.

Sounds like a corrupt chunk or something, there is a tool to find them and replace but I am not sure how it performes said action.

I built my base of operations inside of a dungeon volcanoe and at the bottom of the volcanoe are the mines, which have lapis lazuili, Diamonds, red stone, iron and gold
Looks awesome; I've played with entire desert maps before (using the biometerrain mod) and this sounds even more interesting. I plan on playing on hard as well. Generating a map now; it says that there's only 8 trees in the 64x64 chunk map, so it looks like I have some searching to do...

Why, in my 64x64 map, were all the pyramids and tunnels obsidian, and in my 150x150 map, sandstone?
Moss tone scares the HELL out of me.

This looks really nice, but takes much ( mean really really much) longer then your Planetoid generator.
I'm just doing a 32x32 test map, it works ~10 minutes and is only at 51%. Planetoid finished a 128 map in less then half an hour.
Is it something on my side or does this generator has more to do?
Beautiful generator, loved finding the a oasis and imagining the possibilities of a great sandstone city near it. Might I suggest to have it generate partially buried mossy cobblestone ruins, from a great civilization destroyed by drought and war? Would add some more character to the map.
doing a 248 by 248 ill let u know how it goes i love ur generators by the way.
if u have the time can u make an island chian generator generates random small-medium-large islands in a vast ocean? a couple with volcanos XD

DONT RUN THIS WITH OTHER MAP GENERATORS IT WILL CRASH UR COMP if its not realy good and mines decent
i will try again but with 1200 by 1200 ill let u know how that one goes with a youtube vid

1200 by 1200 did not work so i did a 128 by 128 i spawned inside a volcano somehow and the lava pourd down onto me so i deleted it im now doing a new 248 by 248 i will still do a youtube vid

only 40% done SOOOOOO CLOSE but still soooo far. well i guss my laptop isnt as fast as i thought it would be
@talon i attempted to create 512x512, it starts then doesn't say anything for like 8 hours then it tells you you got like 8000 or so unconnected rooms then it is confused what to do with 8000 dungeon like rooms in 200thousand or so chunks at 1000 or above it would take over a week before seeing some progress
If it hangs for more than a minute or so saying that it's waiting for files to compress just kill the process. The map will work, but it will have a hole in it somewhere since one of the chunks failed to compress.
I already fixed one bug regarding the way compression happens, but GZip still hangs sometimes, and I haven't figured out why yet.
As for the speed - I now have a plan to fix this, and should be able to address it in the next day or so. I'll be increasing the memory requirements significantly, but it should be a matter of going from 2MB to maybe 64MB, which I don't imagine is a problem for anyone.

i have a rather decent laptop so it doesn't take long for me to do 248 by 248 and i have left my laptop running for a month before just to download something.... that was on a really crummy internet service
It would be nice for me to get some good example code to work from, so I can see how to create and modify minecraft worlds.
Also, if its open source, you could ask around for people to help add stuff to make it even more amazing :smile.gif: Or at least someone could identify problems in the code that were slowing it down?
This would be nice. Some of us who are learning programing (I currently learn C++) could learn much from it.
But on the other hand, many kids would just "steal" the code, change some lines and claim it's their work.
So whats next, Tundra, floating islands, hell?

I dont want to wiat another 6.10 hours for an obsidian version.
