I am having the same issue. Running Arch Linux 64-bit with Java 1.7.
So I've recently downloaded this tool and used it to make a render of our server map. I have to say it turned out very nice. Thank you for making an easy to use GUI for Tectonicus
So my question is, does anyone know how to add blocks from mods with this tool. I've seen that there is a complicated way to do it with Tectonicus, but I don't know how to do that with Minetographer. and if anyone has already made these files for Industrial Craft 2, Buildcraft 2, or Redpower 2. I would greatly appreciate any help.
If you need help making a custom block file then I'm happy to help - I'm sure jakester can provide some way of using it in Minetographer.
I'd quite like the custom block files to be a community effort, from both users and mod makers. I don't have the knowledge of each mod to support them all myself, but I can try and make supporting new mods as easy as possible.
Maybe shoot an email to the mod authors and point them in this direction too?
the problem we might have though, is that all three of these mods use MCForge which means that each block not only has a block id, but also a damage value to determine which block it is. so for one block id there could be 100 or so blocks to it.
as for the mod authors, I really wouldn't want to bug them with this. all three of the authors are very busy and have several thousand people to please.
See that's exactly the kind of information I need to know, which is why I'd like to get users and mod authors more involved. It should be pretty easy to add in support for that too. Is there a page or something with more info on the actual blocks and how they look/behave?
the best i can do for you is posting the link to their forum post.
Have Windows, but no interface. It may be a shortage of RAM making Windows kill it before it starts, but with ~1.4 GB free, I doubt it. Any advice? I really want to find the nearest village (if there is one) in the seed ROCKRAIDER and generally have a map to avoid getting lost in the tundra that one spawns in.
How do i insert the HTML file to my web site Ek.s Http://mywebsite.com/minecraftmap
Couse i got a server and wanted to create a map så every one could see it.
But when i open the HTLM it openes in the webbrower but loades it from file:///C:/Users/ "my computer"
so if any other try press the link they can't open it
Is it possible to remove the buttons in the bottom right? I just want the user to view the map and nothing else. Also is it possible to remove the diamond ore block link to Tectonicus? Thanks!
Not through Minetographer. Although the map is an HTML file and therefore infinitely customizable.

Im stuck. It works great, then doesn't generate the map. Here's the end of the log:
Creating camera
TileRenderer init complete
StartingRenderer
Starting tile renderer
Loading level.dat
Loading textures
Cleaning up...
Writing player skin cache info (0 skin to write)
100%
Player skin cache written
Finished
And that's it. It never generates a map.
OSX 10.7.2
EDIT: Found the problem. I had extracted minecraft.jar and made it into a folder named minecraft.jar. It works fine with the game, but I just undid it and this works now!
Love this map renderer, but I'd love it if suppport for worlds greater than 128 could be rendered properly. Thanks to things like Dynamic Height mod and the like, it's easy and awesome to create a taller world.
I'd love to have a good map render of my 256 block high world.
@jakester2
First off I wanted to thank you for making this, I have been using it for quite some time but I have been a horrible tester. :smile.gif:
1) I was wondering if you could clear up what the "Draw distance" is; I cannot find anything on this, and I'm not sure if I want it at 300 for a large map or 50.
2) I believe the minimum Camera Height is broken. No matter what I put as the variable (when x>24) the map will have the closest zoom set to 24(in the log, and it will not save in the settings). This is only a problem because my server has 2 maps and they are about 2Gb+ together and when I render them they are 4Gb+ together!
Also for anyone else who has their own game server, if you are rendering your map and posting them on a separate website I recommend zipping the files and then unzipping them on your web server via ssh (if your server allows SSH)
First of all: this is a great map renderer, good work!
Is there a way to change the output folder? Default output folder is under AppData and rendering big maps in that directory is starting to tax my drive space.
Yes. If you choose the 'Other World' tab, you can manually specify the input and output for a map.
hmm... I tried opening them in Firefox, and it worked. (I was previously using Opera.)

Where can we get the source code? I am a Java developer and with the source I could probably find a fix for the above bug pretty easily...

Just edit the .html file to change the map.
Try starting in manual mode. Instructions in main post. Then post any errors it gives you.
Same as above ^^^

I lost my safe house; but with this I can go back to my home (and use a bed for respawn in the House FTW)
Thanks! Keep that good work.
