Even leaving it there an extended period of time it never gets past that. It is my guess there is a problem with my java install although updating to most recent java yielded no such luck.
uhm, I tried this tool and something's wrong.
It renders all tiles as supposed, but at the end I don't get any html file.
Why?
EDIT:
Okay, tried it 3 times now, still the same.
it renders the highest zoom level and then just stops without rendering the other zoom levels and without creating the html file.
This really annoys me.
EDIT 2:
Here's the Log
so obviously it runs out of memory... I'm rendering just a small map and it's already running out of memory.
maybe you should raise the memory limit or offer some option for it.
Also it doesn't save some settings like color depth and sign rendering
How many tiles is your map? If you're running out of memory, try running the Linux version of Minetographer through command line so that you can manually set your memory usage.
Even leaving it there an extended period of time it never gets past that. It is my guess there is a problem with my java install although updating to most recent java yielded no such luck.
Any ideas?
Looks like your graphics cards either doesn't support OpenGL or it's not configured for it.
Any reason why the cardinal directions are wrong in this program. I am astounded by absolutely everything else in minetographer, it is far and above the best mapping program out there but the fact that north in this program is actually West is really disorienting. I am of course referring to True north as being 90 degrees clockwise from where the sun sets in minecraft and as being the top (or normal north) part of a map when crafted in minecraft.
Is there any reason for this orientation? It confuses some people on my server when they are looking at the map (which I have oriented to true north) yet the compass heading reads "West" at the top.
edit: Also a really awesome option would be to let us alter where it outputs the map. Currently it outputs my map to my SSD which is crunched for space because it isn't for data its just my main boot drive. At a whopping 10 gigs (HUGE map I'm rendering) this can be rather frustrating.

This is AWESOME. The only problem i have is that the final map.html does not generate and all i'm left with is the hundreds of part pictures.
Is it possible to have it run every so often so it updates the feed to the .html? I was trying to configure something but failed. I have a website I host as well, was hoping to auto feed it to the website.
This happens when Minetographer cannot read your minecraft.jar file. Have you modified it in any way?
I updated it to the weekly snapshot of at "Minecraft Dev Snapshot Week 50" and expanded it so I could change the font that shows when enchanting to the regular font rather than the SGA font. I left it as a folder after that but I will try compressing it back to a .jar file and see if that solves it.

I'd just like to second this guy's post. North in Minetographer is West in Minecraft.
I know North was changed in-game a few patches ago, so could you change it in Minetographer as well? Thanks!
So far the map size ends up about 2x the size of the game world so if you have a 100MB game world you need about 200MB of storage some where on the web, how ever thats not what is going to get pulled every time some one looks at your map its what ever they zoom into.
I originally had problems getting MC to run last month and one of the things I did was to uninstall and delete all versions of Java and then install the latest 32 bit version.
I found that my MC crashing problems were due to not having FOV set to "Normal". Prior to that I was lucky to get MC to run for as much as ten minutes without crashing. Now MC runs just fine on my machine.
Right now, 10:05 EST 12/15/11, Minetographer won't go beyond "Initializing" so I'm going to reboot and try again.
I'll report back here shortly.
EDIT: 11:40 EST 12/15/11 OK, I found out why some worlds won't map.
I've been saving copys of my worlds by copying the world folders and renaming them.
I got too many in SAVE folder so I moved a bunch of my earlier saves into a sub-folder. When I first ran Minetographer it searched the MC Save folder AND sub-folders for saved world folders and made folders for them in it's own output folder. Apparently Minetographer can't process a world whose folder is not in the first level of the MC Saves folder. I made a copy of one of my saved world folders and put it in the first level of the MC Saves folder and Minetographer built the map with no problem.
BUT, it then crashed before opening the map in FireFox. I had to double click on the map.html file to get it to display.
EDIT: 0805 EST 12/16/11 Changed "directory" to "folder" to be more modern. Sorry, I lived with DOS for a LOOOONG time. :wink.gif:
update to Java 7, that fixed allot of problems on my XP machines.
Is it possible to have it run every so often so it updates the feed to the .html? I was trying to configure something but failed. I have a website I host as well, was hoping to auto feed it to the website.
Thank you!
This might not be a good idea considering the amount of space and CPU/RAM usage of a Minetographer Map Update.. but if you know how to code i guess it would be possible to mix a Minetographer map and a realtime map to get players position. And update the actual map once in a while.
Today i spent some time rendering a map with my toes and fingers crossed praying for the program not to crash like it did the last times... Anyways, the map is not that big (39 Mb) and everything but sometimes Minetographer crashes and i have to start all over again. Another thing ive noticed is that i cant find a way to save the map or i cant see where the map is saved after rendering so everytime i need it i have to reder again and again. Any suggestions?
Thanks.
Ps: I use MCworldmap too from time to time but since the ammount of people requiring their world maps, takes A LOT OF TIME (ive been waiting more than 15 days) so i tryied to do it myself using Minectographer.
I personally love Minetographer as a mapping tool. I've been using it for quite a long time, but I can't seem to get the newest (0.7.7) update working. I downloaded and extracted it to my computer, but whenever I try to run it, nothing happens at all. If I use task manager, I see a new process of "javaw.exe", but other than that, nothing happens. Any idea what is happening and how I can fix it?
Edit: Nevermind, I fixed it. I just had to go into my %appdata% folder and delete the Minetographer folder inside of it.
I have the following problem
I hit render and it gets stuck on
"Initialising display...
Drawable: org.lwjgl.opengl.Display$3@18ba2b6b "
Even leaving it there an extended period of time it never gets past that. It is my guess there is a problem with my java install although updating to most recent java yielded no such luck.
Any ideas?

Says it's finished in no time though nothing happens.
Trashed the Application Support folder thinking something might be corrupt.
Still just hangs there with the bar no matter how much time is given.
The Log:
This happens when Minetographer cannot read your minecraft.jar file. Have you modified it in any way?
Is it possible to have it run every so often so it updates the feed to the .html? I was trying to configure something but failed. I have a website I host as well, was hoping to auto feed it to the website.
Thank you!
Thanks!
Aye, would be thankful for this change as well. :smile.gif:
So far the map size ends up about 2x the size of the game world so if you have a 100MB game world you need about 200MB of storage some where on the web, how ever thats not what is going to get pulled every time some one looks at your map its what ever they zoom into.
update to Java 7, that fixed allot of problems on my XP machines.
Cheers!
Edit: Nevermind, I fixed it. I just had to go into my %appdata% folder and delete the Minetographer folder inside of it.
