I have a bug... When i go to save the settings for stuff like backup destinantion ans such i receive a warning, i can ignore the warning or give up using the program, except ignoring it is useless because it comes back and stops me from saving the settings.

My single player games are in the normal place, but my SMP world is in a folder with the server executable, and it has a custom name. Your tool seems fantastic, but if I can't tell it which world to backup, I can't use it =(
Is there an option to put in a "custom world" box like Cartograph has?
EDIT: Also, is there a way to have a backup start automatically? I'd like to put this on a scheduler. Thank you!
Not sure if this program is even being supported anymore, but I figured I would try anyway.
I happen to really like this program, but after not playing MC for about, oh, two or three weeks, I came back to find that I can no longer use my save files or MC backup assistant. I have no idea why, as every thing was working just fine last time I used MC and MC backup. Now the issue I'm getting with MC backup is a fast one. I try to open the program, and with no fanfare a window pops up telling me "Minecraft Backup Assistant has stopped working. Windows is checking for a solution"
And that's it. No more details on if a solution was found (which is a peeve of mine with Windows), no info from MC backup, nothin. I redownloaded the files from codeplx, and that didn't' help at all.
If anyone is still monitoring this program, or happens to know where it is being updated and such, please post a link or comments. Any and all help is appreciated.
I'll try to fix it on my free time, since I've been busy the last months.
Thanks, Omer.
By the way, you can find updates at http://minecraftbackup.codeplex.com/
Sorry for not responding, this buggy forum should send an email message whenever someone posts in this thread.

Try deleting all of the folders at %appdata%\MinecraftBackupAssistant

It seems the program thinks you have no backups in the folder - Please try to delete all of the folders at %appdata%\MinecraftBackupAssistant
I'm coming up against an error when clicking on the "restore" button. I'm on windows 7 64bit and have .net framework 3.5 (as far as I am aware it comes with windows 7).
It reads "Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection. Parameter name:index." It also gives the following:
Does anyone have any suggestions?
I was having this problem too. I downloaded the source code and ran it through the debugger and found the problem. Your saves must be named World1, World2, World3, World4, or World5. Open your Backup Folder and rename all of the saves (or at least the one you want to restore).
For example, rename "My World_04-11-2011_22-46-05.zip" to "World1_04-11-2011_22-46-05.zip".
This app works good, but when I restore a backup (I have the Minecraft portable option enabled for: D:\Minecraft\Data\.minecraft\saves), it backups to: D:\Minecraft\Data\.minecraft\saves\saves\World1.
P.S.
Can you add support for McRegion mappers? Cartograph doesn't support McR.
You need to select the .minecraft folder, not the .minecraft\saves folder.
I'll add support for McRegion mappers in the next version.
Anyone wants to volunteer to test the next version?
Okay, MBA v2.3 is here! All issues should have been fixed.
[*:22j00ld7] Removed Cartograph support, added c10t support - McRegion mapping
[*:22j00ld7] Removed useless mapping options
[*:22j00ld7] User can now choose the restored world destination's name
[*:22j00ld7] Fixed bugs that happened because of Minecraft update 1.3
[*:22j00ld7] Save list in the main form is now sorted by date
[*:22j00ld7] Added option to check updates when the program is launched
[*:22j00ld7] Renamed date-time format to timestamp
[*:22j00ld7] Restore form now shows all backups, and not only the ones named World(1-5)
[*:22j00ld7] Readme file now opens when the program is launched the first time
Just found this today, I'm loving using it to back up and restore worlds from my Dropbox folder (which I use to get my worlds between my desktop and laptop.)
I do have one feature request, which should be fairly easy. The automatic names are nice and verbose, but not always the best for the situation. Could you add a dialog that allows the user to edit the backup filename to use? This should probably be something that can be disabled in the settings for people who don't care as much as me, heh.
I fully expect to enjoy looking at the source code once I finally finish with this semester, on an unrelated note. Nice job.
Features:
Minecraft Backup Assistant v2.5:
.NET Framework 3.5 is required.

If you got any ideas how to improve/add, please let me know of them!
Thanks, Omer.
The release will be a bit buggy then.
