ArtiMo, this app was designed against Java 6, not Java 7. That's why there are issues. Java 7 was still being developed when he started this app. Just be patient.
It's sad to hear you're working 60+ hour work weeks. 1.8 was released recently, hope we can use the new blocks in the program soon.
As soon as the 7a patch is out the new blocks will be a priority, definitely.
16 hours and climbing of work today :smile.gif: Hopefully I'll be done before midnight local.
"Unless you've played minecraft exclusively in your browser you've almost certainly got a Java Runtime Environment (or JRE for short) installed on your system. Still, it's not a bad idea to update to the latest version"
Because the Java Consortium changed the way that some of the Java methods work, specifically to do with fonts. That causes the code that worked perfectly well against Java 6 to fail with a Null Pointer Exception with Java 7.

I would really like to use this program. but I can't. never been able to.
I can open the program just fine, but if I were to, say, go to structures and click "circle" nothing happens. in fact, the only thing it can do right is close when I press "exit".
I'm on a mac, if that helps.
I finally got it to work on Kubuntu! :biggrin.gif:
$ java -version
java version "1.6.0_23"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea6 1.11pre) (6b23~pre10-0ubuntu5)
OpenJDK Client VM (build 20.0-b11, mixed mode, sharing)
Besides the necessary libraries (installed via APT), I needed to add some symlinks as APT is putting the libraries into /usr/share/java/ and the application is looking for them in /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk/jre/lib/ext.
Will the MinecraftStructurePlanner be updated for using the new block types available since 1.6 ? I've been using it by substituting other block types, exploring to a *.schematic file, importing into a creative world, replacing the proxy blocks and then re-exporting it.
This still works, right? I ask this while actually using the program, mind you; I'm not entirely sure if I'm using it right/to the proper extent. So far I'm just figuring it out, but being able to scroll between the layers of blocks (with it shading the blocks beneath in grey) is handy as ****.
I keep getting this message from MCEdit after trying to open the .schematic file that i save with Minecraft Structure Planner,
I get this message:
______________________________________________________________
"I don't know how to import this file: (filename).schematic.
Error: LoadingError('Multiple errors encountered',
NBTFormatError('Not an NBT file with a root TAG_Compound
(found 60)',), IOError('MCJavaLevel attempted for smaller than 64 blocks cubed',))"
______________________________________________________________
The schematic was just a structure like 10 by 10 by 10, but it wont load into MCEdit.
Can anyone help?
"(found 60)" means you tried to import a .xsp file (the Structure Planner's native file format). I've been getting occasional reports of this problem and I always respond "Use the 'Export Schematic' command instead of the regular 'Save'" but it's frequent enough that it might be a bug.
LankyBrit, do you know how likely it is that "Export Schematic" is creating a .xsp format file that's just named ".schematic"?
It's very very cool, and will let me make those cathedrals I want to, without needing a tree's worth of paper to draw things out on.
Oh, and I love the "required materials" list - now I can go away and gather resources before starting to build, and know that I'll have enough to see it through.
Just fiddled around with it a bit this morning, it crashed on me with a null pointer - I ran it from the commandline, so here's the stack trace. JRE crash log is below the stack trace.
I see the NPE happened in the addColumn method - unless this refers to drawing a column on the screen, I don't understand: The crash happened after I spent some time in other windows (browser etc), then when I brought Structure Planner to the foreground, it crashed instantaneously.
EDIT: In fact, it seems to do this pretty much every single time that I bring it to the front, when it's spent a bit of time as the background window.
The instant the window starts drawing it crashes. I think I'm generally in "plan" view when this happens, but not 100% sure.

I want to build a structure where the base is elliptical. So what I thought I'd do, is to make two half-circles, and separate them by short straight bits. It would only be an approximation to an ellipsis, but should be fairly convincing.
The problem is, structureplanner won't let me do this (i.e. generate a circle, then edit it).
So, the feature I want, is to be able to generate one of the pre-set structures, then edit it in freeform mode.
Also, if you could add an ellipsis as a pre-set structure, that would be great. A million times better though, would be if I could implement an interface / extend a base class you provide in the code, then register my new class as a new pre-set structure (perhaps by adding a line containing the full class name in a config file?). That way, I could add any weird shape I want, without everybody else's installation having to have a million options for pre-set structures.
Alright, I downloaded the planner and got it working and everything, but, the screen remains blank for everything till I mouse over. Somethings won't come back. Please help.
As soon as the 7a patch is out the new blocks will be a priority, definitely.
16 hours and climbing of work today :smile.gif: Hopefully I'll be done before midnight local.
Home of the Minecraft Structure Planner application.
Because the Java Consortium changed the way that some of the Java methods work, specifically to do with fonts. That causes the code that worked perfectly well against Java 6 to fail with a Null Pointer Exception with Java 7.

I can open the program just fine, but if I were to, say, go to structures and click "circle" nothing happens. in fact, the only thing it can do right is close when I press "exit".
I'm on a mac, if that helps.

How about that Java 7 patch D:
EDIT: Actually 6 is still installed, I got this.
Thanks for the program, by the way!
Besides the necessary libraries (installed via APT), I needed to add some symlinks as APT is putting the libraries into /usr/share/java/ and the application is looking for them in /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk/jre/lib/ext.
The necessary symlinks are:
I hope this is a problem, caused by the application and the symlinks will become obsolete at some point :wink.gif:
And here's the Bash script I'm using:
Maybe this helps somebody.
[EDIT] And if you search for the official icon. It's in the JAR archive (minecraft/planner/ressources/icon.png).
You can File-->Export it to a schematic file, and load that via MCEdit :smile.gif:

Sweet! Thanks!
Watch my Let's Play "The Hessmix Chronicles"!!

The schematic was just a structure like 10 by 10 by 10, but it wont load into MCEdit.
Can anyone help?
