Any plans for a resize option of the Layout window in Plain View, Freeform mode? The mat req windows is taking too much space and I have to zoom out a lot.
Yes - that'll be coming in 0.99.1. Would have been done this weekend but I've been laid up with 'flu for the past week.
If you have any more ideas for features or requests, please post them at http://minecraftstructureplanner.com/forum. There's a discussion group purely for new feature requests in there. I have so many threads going on so many different boards now that it's getting difficult to keep up with all of them, so I'm trying to centralize on a single forum for the application. If you've not visited it yet I'd be interested to hear your initial impressions of the website too. The tutorials/FAQ aren't done yet, again because of the 'flu, but everything else is hooked up.
[*:3o011wbw]Fixed exporting schematics containing Obsidian. You can now import them to your world through MCEdit without causing Minecraft to crash.
[*:3o011wbw]Implemented schematic import. You can now use MCEdit to export a schematic of a section of your world, then import it into the Minecraft Structure Planner Freeform tab for further editing.
[*:3o011wbw]Collapsable material manifest panel. In order to give you more room for editing on the Freeform tab, you can now collapse down the Material Manifest panel by clicking on either the panel title or the arrow next to it. If you want to see the contents of the manifest panel again, a simple click on the panel title or the expand arrow will bring it back.
[*:3o011wbw]Freeform editing and sizing controls. This is one that people have been asking for for ages! You can now resize and manipulate your work area within the Freeform editor. The editor toolbar allows you to:
[*:3o011wbw]Add and remove rows
[*:3o011wbw]Add and remove columns
[*:3o011wbw]Add and remove layers
[*:3o011wbw]Trim your design so that it reduces the grid to the minimum size possible
[*:3o011wbw]Copy and paste between layers of your design
[*:3o011wbw]Display of layer below upgraded. Previously any cells of the current layer that had blocks below them appeared grey. Now, cells with blocks below them show a semi-transparent version of the block texture, allowing you to see more details of the design on the layer below, and making it easier to match up your construction blocks.
I got it working on my old computer, but after switching to a laptop, I try run it and get a "could not find the main class: minecraft.planner.gui.StructurePlanner. Program will exit.

Any help?
Yeah - it's going to be the Java 3D install on your laptop. Your best bet is to uninstall all Java components from the laptop, then follow the instructions on the download page at http://minecraftstructureplanner.com.
nothing works. Installing the 64-bits did not work. Your instructions are very unclear. Not everybody knows what binary files are etc. i'm hella nub when it comes to this and I've been trying to make it work for an hour now. Java3D for 32-bit seems to install fine but when I try to install the 32-bit version of JRE it gives me this.
"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable
Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'jre.1.6.0_22-c-l.msi' in the box below"
Use source: (then i get the option to browse, the source that's already typed it is "C:\Users\AVDV\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\jre1.6.0_22\")
I'm really annoyed that you have to download so much other crap just to get one other crap to work.
I'm sorry that installing Java and Java 3D annoys you so much, but it's kind of necessary if you want to run a Java program that uses Java 3D.
1. Click the 'Download Java JRE' link, or the picture to the right of it.
2. From the table that says 'Java SE 6 Update 24', click the 'Download JRE' button.
3. Choose 'Platform: Windows' (not Windows x64), check the 'I agree to the license' box, and click the 'Continue>>' button.
4. Click the 'Windows offline installation' link and either save it or run it. Alternatively, you can use this direct link to the download.
Note that if you've installed any Java 64 components then things will likely not work. The Java 3D installer gets chronically confused if you have two different versions of Java installed, so I recommend using the Control Panel to remove any x64 Java software before you start.
Ok, first post on the forum ever. But anyways. I've used this app for a day now, didn't have any problems with it because i read through this entire thread before even installing it. And i have to say, i ADORE this program. It's a alot of help, great job on it LankyBrit I just want to come with a small suggestion, because i couldn't find this function in the program and i think alot of people would have some use of it: Copy/pasting, or some sort of ability to move the entire structure or layer (maybe both?). 'Cause I sometimes find out "Oh shoot, i don't have enough space on that side of the building to keep expanding, and adding another row/colum won't work since it's on the other side..."
Again, i may have missed out on this function, but i atleast don't THINK it's already in there. It would be a great help, to me atleast :tongue.gif:
Kudos on the programming, really well done.
Rookie~
EDIT: Also, a "Replace all *material A* with *material B*"-function :smile.gif: For example "Replace all with "
Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'jre.1.6.0_22-c-l.msi' in the box below"
Use source: (then i get the option to browse, the source that's already typed it is "C:\Users\AVDV\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\jre1.6.0_22\")
I get this message when I try to install OR uninstall Java(TM) 6 Update 24. Apparently I've already installed it but when I check Program Files(x86) there's nothing in the jre6 folder.
The Java3D is no problem, it's the other thing.
I decided to go to C:\Users\AVDV\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\ to see what's up and I found a file that I used to manually unzip and extract jre1.6.0_24 directly into Program Files(x86). It didn't work though. Why is it looking for Java6update22?
What operating system are you trying to download Java for? All of the Windows Java installers that I know of are .exe based, not .msi. I have absolutely no idea right now what state your machine might be in.
Note that if you've installed any Java 64 components then things will likely not work. The Java 3D installer gets chronically confused if you have two different versions of Java installed, so I recommend using the Control Panel to remove any x64 Java software before you start.
Cheers,
LankyBrit.
Thats a shame, im one of the unlucky few that has the game crashing every few minutes with the 32bit version of Java so going back to that to run this program is out of the question, was looking forward to an easier life with building too :sad.gif:
OK - note that I didn't say it couldn't be done :-)
What you need to do to get the 64-bit version running is:
1. Find the location of the Java JVM that's being used to run your Java applications.
2. Ensure that the 64-bit Java 3D JAR files are copied into the /lib/ext directory within the JRE or JDK you installed. The required JAR files are j3dcore.jar, j3dutils.jar, and vecmath.jar.
3. Ensure that the 64-bit Java 3D dll files are copied into the /bin directory within the JRE or JDK you installed. The required DLL files are j3dcore-d3d.dll, j3dcore-ogl.dll, j3dcore-ogl-cg.dll and j3dcore-ogl-chk.dll.
If you do that, and the gods smile on you, then you should have the MSP running with 64-bit Java.
Hello LankyBrit, been a happy user of your planner for a while. I've just recently discovered this fine program as well, and I was wondering - is there any way to make your program able to open the .binvox files which it generates as a freeform schematic? If so that'd basically be the second coming of Jesus. Thanks!

Looks interesting. If I can reverse engineer the .binvox files then it shouldn't be a problem. I DID notice that the current version of binvox allows you to export as a .schematic file though, which the current version of MSP should be able to import just fine.
EDIT Scratch that - you can EXPORT in .schematic format from binvox, but you'd like to be able to load existing binvox files. Just found the documentation for the file format, so should be easy enough. I'll see what I can do!

I didn't even know binvox could export to schematic files! That's also something to chew on. But thanks for possibly tackling it from the other side too!
^^^^ Thats what I have been doing for my builds, but lately I have had to resort to transferring every layer to graph paper for building on SMP (hence why that print feature would be of great help).

It might not be implemented yet, but I'm still blaming you.
:-P
I see how it is....but I agree, it's definitely my fault XD.
Thanks to an interesting request from terzaerian, Release 0.99.2 of the Structure Planner has just been made. You can download the latest version from the Minecraft Structure Planner download page.
If you now select 'File-->Import Schematic...' you'll find that you can select "Binvox Schematic" as one of the file types. Simply select a Binvox file, and the material that you wish to import it using, and a Freeform edit tab will be opened with your model. At that point you can edit the design in all the normal ways, as well as export in MCEdit format for direct import to your worlds. As an added bonus, the Structure Planner will also remove all hidden voxels from your model, and resize the model grid to fit the schematic exactly.
Not yet. It will in 0.99.1

If you do that, and the gods smile on you, then you should have the MSP running with 64-bit Java.
Let me know what happens.
