Wow, I've not seen that one before! It looks like something is going very wrong deep inside the Java 3D support DLL's. The only thing I can suggest is that you try updating your graphics card drivers, and if that doesn't work then try uninstalling and re-installing Java 3D.

It's saying that it can't find the Java 3D install. Uninstall EVERYTHING java from your system, install the 32-bit Java JRE, then the 32-bit Java 3D install. That should fix it.
So this doesn't work with 64 bit java? I'm not going to install 32 bit java just for one application, I went through too much trouble to actually get the 64 bit JDK installed and the JRE and plugin working with IE and Minefield.
why not just use minecraft? in the time that you think and plan this out, you can do so in minecraft. Just think about what your doing in a 3d enviroment. I mean, seriously, its not that hard to think ahead.

It works perfectly fine with 64-bit Java. Java 3D's 64-bit installer does NOT work well. If you want to manually install the Java 3D jar files and DLL's in the bin/ext and lib/ext directories of your JRE then you're more than welcome to. For most people, switching down to the 32-bit versions of both is the easier route.

Thank you for your valuable insight. If you wouldn't mind, go log in to Minecraft and create a voxel-perfect radius 30 sphere. It's OK, it's not that hard to do if you just think ahead. We'll wait for you.
To be honest, it's clumsy, laggy, crashes alot, and is useless to me.
I don't like it, and I won't be using it alot.
How will I ever live my life knowing that my application doesn't meet with the approval of Request990? Please excuse me while I step outside and end it all now.

Interesting. I hadn't been able to get it to work with 6u22 or 6u23, both were throwing the class not found exception that indicated it could not find the Java3D API, even after I merged the /bin and /lib folders from Java3D into my JRE folder. 6u24 is working fine however.

Java 3D is (was) in my experience really touchy about the 64-bit JRE's and JDK's. I had it working with, if memory serves me right, 20 through 23, but didn't bother doing the manual configurations past that point due to the flakiness. If you go to the Java 3D site (which used to be http://java3d.dev.java.net) you'll find that the project has now been pulled under the Java.net beta projects umbrella as of December 2010. The source code has been made available, so I think I'll download and incorporate the Java libraries directly into the main jar/manifest. There's also a set of WebStart binaries for Java 3D now which I'll take a look at.
Honestly, if I could get rid of the Java 3D installation quirks that'd be one of the biggest thorns removed from the side of this project!
Hey im probably just blind, but i can't seem to find a way to install the thing. could you please help me with this? I just need to know where to put the files and stuff. Thanks man.

Install a Java JRE. Install Java 3D. Double-click the MinecraftStructurePlanner.jar file - it's a runnable JAR file so it should just start up.
thanks for replying, but im not sure what Java JRE is. Sorry for my lack of knowledge though.
Please reply,

i found it out this program's great, but i didnt understand a few of the posts that stated creating it into your world. How would you do this? Thanks again for helping

Glad you got it running! I'm actually putting together a website in my spare time to cover exactly how to use it, but here's the basics:
1. Design whatever you want from one of the planner tabs.
2. When you like what you have, select "File-->Export Schematic..." and save the schematic file.
3. Run MCEdit, import the schematic you just saved, and save your changes.
When did the save format change from .msp to .xsp? Since I made a building in .msp and now I can´t open it to export it :sad.gif: Is there any way of changing the extension?
Did I not include an 'all files' option in the file dialog box? What a bloody amateur! I'll fix it for the next release. Meanwhile you can load your file by renaming it from foo.msp to foo.xsp :smile.gif: The file format didn't change.
Here's something that I've been meaning to do for quite a while, but didn't have the spare time for it until now. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to http://minecraftstructureplanner.com! It's the central location for the very latest Minecraft Structure Planner download link, a development blog detailing releases as well as what's coming next, and (eventually) a host of tutorial and FAQ information gleaned from the various web forums that I currently use for communication with the Great Web Horde. Pop across and let me know what you think/what you'd like to see there.
