This release improves water rendering. Several water-related rendering bugs have been fixed, and the performance has been significantly improved. For scenes with a large amount of water the rendering speed has increased by more than a four times.
There is a new tab in the Render Controls dialog that groups together all water settings. The new water tab has settings for water opacity, visibility, and color. The default water settings can replaced with your own configuration.
A setting for Y cutoff has been added. The next time chunks are loaded blocks below the Y cutoff are ignored.
Change Log
Added Y cutoff setting (blocks below the Y cutoff are not loaded)
Added new tab in the Render Controls dialog for water related settings
Added slider for water visibility
Added slider for water opacity
Removed the "clear water" option (which is made obsolete by water
visibility slider)
Added custom water color setting
All water settings can now be stored as custom defaults
Removed the visible sea border in water world rendering mode
Lily pads now cast shadows
Display a warning when a scene from a newer version of Chunky is loaded
Saving a scene with a different name no longer hides the old scene by renaming the old scene description file with the .backup suffix
Added scrollbar to Render Controls dialog for small screens (only visible when the whole window does not fit on screen)
Thank you for this program, Nrub. Helpful to people who can't handle SEUS shaders like me.
Here's a sample Volumetric lighting/Godrays render. Took 3 hours tho. Worth it.
The problem is the camera is not looking at the blocks. Try spinning the camera around a bit. If that does not work try the "Center camera" button on the Camera tab.
So I am using this program on a linux box that is running a minecraft 1.81 server. I'm using it to map the world as the characters go through it but it seems that the compass direction in the map do not line up with the direction in Chunky. It seems to be out by 180degrees. Anyone else seeing this?
I have the following problem. The tabs in the render settings window keep getting larger each time the window is opened. It's gotten bad enough that now the content scrolls off the page. This persists even after the program is closed. I've also uninstalled without any success. Do you know of a way this can be fixed?
Hey nrub, I hate to ask, but is there any way to deal with the almost exact 8k chunk limit? Depending on somewhere between 2GB-4GB of RAM allocated I can load between 6.5k and 8.7k chunks This makes it impossible to load my 78k+ worlds.

If someone in an S class cuts me off, I don't get upset. He obviously has important things to do. Now, someone in a Toyota? We're fighting.
These forums are dumb and break my links. I'm bubbleawsome on steam too.
resource packs arent loading properly for me? I add the pack and the map reloads but on the preview window or final renders show conquest, just remains default... Anyone have any iras as whats going wrong?
Hi guys, I made a quick two-question form to see which OS and Java versions Chunky users are using! If you have time please answer the questions here: http://goo.gl/forms/TRFg7Gy64S

It is difficult to optimise memory usage further, unfortunately. Chunky is already fairly efficient at compressing the data it needs for each chunk, at least when rendering.
I'm so thankful for all the amazing work you've put in to give all of us such an awesome tool for free.
Question though, and I'm sorry, I believe it may have been asked before, is there any possibility of adding in support for mob heads, not npcs, just heads?
So if using the armor stand, head, and torch trick for lighting, the heads will be rendered as well? -yeah, pretty specific situation, I know.

Hi, I'm working on mob heads right now. Armor stands are not supported yet though.
I'm trying to make a rendering that covers about 60-65k chunks, using clouds. Since, with my laptop I can load at max 25k chunks, I'm trying to make this rendering through several renderings which results will be combined together with an image editor as GIMP.
The problem is that even if I reload the .dump file of the first rendering and I load different chunks to make the following rendering, I realize that the clouds are everytime in a different position, and even if I would replace them in the right position using the offset commands, I can't do that because the limit is 100 (I'm not sure what this value means).
Is there a reason why clouds are always 'spawned' in a different position?
That might be a bug. They should appear in the same position where you set them, but they might be reset for some reason. Will check it out!
This has been fixed now in the latest Chunky snapshot (1.3.6-alpha4). The clouds should now be rendered relative to the world origin, so loading different parts of the map will leave the clouds in the same relative position.
I have run into the issue of not being able to allocate more RAM to chunky when it is running. Any amount of RAM over ~1350 causes it to crash with this Report. Error occurred during initialization of VM Could not reserve enough space for 2097152KB object heap Chunky exited abnormally with exit value 1.
For whatever reason it is trying to allocate more RAM Than i have stated? i put 2Gigs as i have 16Gbs installed. I havent had this issue before until installing chunky on my Desktop, My old laptop allowed me to Allocate more. Any suggestions?

Specs if needed:
Intel i5 @3.50 (OC'ed to 4.00)
MSI Z97 Gaming 7 MB
Corsair vengeance RAM 4x4 sticks
MSI GTX 970
This is usually caused by your Java version. I suggest trying to upgrade your Java installation.
Can you add support for models and connected textures?
I came here wondering the same thing, so I'd like to add to it a bit.
I'm a resource pack maker, I'm not interested in Chunky for conventional reasons, but I think as a rendering tool, it could be a very good to benchmark resource packs (rendering time, CPU stats, etc.), possibly pack makers some insight onto how much impact their pack has on the game. At least those who make models and are wondering if given models to common-ish blocks (like cacti or dead bushes) is a good idea.
Specifically with render settings like the game has. I'm not sure if Chunky supports video (even image sequences of simple flybys) but that would certainly help doing a benchmark on something that might actually not have much of a difference with a still image. If not, maybe using a large scene might work.
