Awesome mod installer. Tried it out now and it's just awesome.
But i have a problem.
I don't want to open up minecrafter to play minecraft with mods. Isn't there a .jar file i can put into .minecraft/bin folder?
So i just have to run it normally with all the mods?
Run Minecrafter once as Permanent (first backup your original minecraft) then start normally.
Thank you very much! Now i don't need any use for minecrafter unless a new super awesome mod gets released.
after doing some searching i found this to help me with my last question so my new question is what file should i copy and save once ive done the permenant import so that if i need to reload my texture pack ill have saved somewhere
I just tried to use your utility, and it worked fine for the most part, but for some reason the Spawn Block mod makes minecraft blackscreen after the login, and whenever I try to open the ModSettings section (from the Settings API mod) in the menu the game locks up.
Any idea why?
I think I am having the same problem as this person.
I can run a mod that uses the GUI API mod if I install the files manually without Minecrafter, but if I use Minecrafter, the game freezes (never get an error report) usually after pressing the "Mod Settings" button that comes with the GUI API mod three times. It also does it when Modloader and GUI API are the only things in the mod package (Modloader is required by GUI API). I've tried using all 3 "Launch Minecraft" options. Same result each time. If I don't use Minecrafter, GUI API works fine. This isn't a base folder issue. I don't know what the problem is.
This is interesting:
If I use the minecraft.jar that Minecrafter makes (after using the Permanent Launch option), after starting Minecraft normally, without using Minecrafter to launch it, it does not lock up with that minecraft.jar. But if I start up Minecraft using the Minecrafter launcher, it locks up.
My process this week has been:
1. patch the .jar for resolution required for texture pack to be used in step 2. Don't choose a pack.
2. minecrafter has texture pack and other mods in separate packages, only difference between packages is the TP.
3. If I want to use a pack that has a different resolution to that chosen in step 1, then I revert minecraft.jar back to original and rerun step 1 at the new resolution.
So far, this hasn't worked especially well, and certainly isn't as convenient as when HD patch was integrated into minecrafter.
I love minecrafter in that I can have sessions with different packs without manually patching the jar for each pack. Hopefully someone updates.

Won't the HD Texture Patcher inject the new texture pack as well?
This is the error I get everytime I add a mod, however texture packs work. Please help
Thanks

how do i get this to work? should i insert it to minecraft.jar? or if theres suppose to be a program in the zip? HELP!!! i dunno how to work this thing!!!
This program is awesome. Someone should really pick this up and continue it's progress.
As for running it, make sure it's in the same folder as minecraft.exe.
Hope it's ok to bump this, but I've been trying to use modloader in minecrafter, and every time I start the game I log in and then get a black screen. I've read the tutorial, but even when modloader is the only thing in the mod pack this still happens. Any ideas?
This is fantastic...I've been jealous of all the Windows mod managers, and now I have something to rely on. Great work.
I've been using this to iterate on my texture pack, and have a feature suggestion. Every time I update anything in the mod's folder, I have to remove it from the pack and reselect it, because Minecrafter caches the mod in a zip file. It's not too much work, but I think having a 'reload' button would be helpful. It would simply re-grab the folder from where it was last time.
This is also true for modders as well, so they can quickly test updates to code.

I can't seem to figure out how to work this either. I'm on a Mac.

You need to build an exact replica of Manhattan made of diamonds and when you're done then your diamond Manhattan disappears and in its crater is one lantern.

I also created a step by step tutorial (in my signature), but for the time being it is outdated until MoCreatures gets updated.

Any Mac friends having trouble installing forge on your minecraft_server.jar files? Check out my script that lets you do it easily with one simple click! For more info look here http://www.minecraft...-click-install/
I can't seem to figure out how to work this either. I'm on a Mac.
Are you serious? First of all, there's a step-by-step guide online. Second of all, it's an application. It's a .app, the kind you double click and they go? How can you not work it?
If you can't work this, maybe you shouldn't be modding your minecraft. Also, when asking for help, be more specific than "I'm on a Mac".
So any have any ideas on why modloader won't work? I get a blackscreen after logging in even when modloader is the only thing in the mod package. I can use some other mods though. running whatever the newest version of osX is.

The post above you says it is already, but the dev said he would stop updating it and has released the source.
Has anyone decided to improve on this?
Okay, so I first add textures with Minecrafter, then use HD-patcher afterward, w/o the textures? I'm confused.
1. patch the .jar for resolution required for texture pack to be used in step 2. Don't choose a pack.
2. minecrafter has texture pack and other mods in separate packages, only difference between packages is the TP.

Won't the HD Texture Patcher inject the new texture pack as well?
xau's? Nope, as I said in step 1 - don't choose a pack. The only thing to do is change the resolution, then click patch.
Thanks

Yeah, someone should carry this program on. It's very useful.
Did you guys follow his mac tutorial?

It is pretty straight forward.
