What name is your world?
If it isn't World1(2,3,4,5) you have to manually open the level.dat file
Have you considered adding an option to edit/view the world's seed? That would be really useful with the new 1.3 update.
The seed is not stored the same way as it is entered when creating a world. It can't be reversed either as far as I can tell. It can still be edited or viewed but I doubt it is very useful.

It would be great if you could add scripting commands for putting something into the first available slots and for changing the stuff in the Misc. panel (health, time, position).
Also, opening an inventory file as a world causes it to crash.
If something can be done in Lua, I would prefer to keep it there. Try something like this to get an available slot.
function getAvailableSlot()
for name,slot in pairs(SLOT_TABLE) do
-- Only search non-armor slots.
if slot < 100 then
-- Check if an item is in the slot already.
_,itemType = GetItem(slot)
if itemType == nil then
-- Slot is empty!
return name,slot
end
end
end
return nil
end
name,slot = getAvailableSlot()
if slot == nil then
print("No slots available")
else
print("Slot named " .. name .. " with value " .. slot .. " is available")
end
Changing settings in the Misc. panel with Lua would be nice though. Especially setting time of day in conjunction with "Script->Generate Script From Inventory." I won't be adding it in this upcoming update though.
Can you elaborate more on your crash when opening a world? I'm unable to reproduce it. Are you using the OS X or the Linux verion? What's the name of the world you are trying to open? Are you opening the level.dat manually or using the "File->World X" quick load options?
I forgot to bump after releasing the InvGrid update for Minecraft 1.3 yesterday. Check the top post for InvGrid 0.8.2 changes.

can someone explain to me how to find your worlds in 1.3
With the new version I released yesterday, 0.8.2, just go to File->Open and it'll automatically show the "saves" folder containing your worlds. Then open the folder named after the world you want to edit. Finally, select the level.dat file in the folder you just opened and click the Open button.

The crash is a really minor bug, it happens when you open a .csv inventory file using the "open world" menu. And it is on OS X.
Interesting that it crashes, even when opening the wrong type of file you should just get an error message. I still can't reproduce it. I don't think it's significant enough to fix anyways.
Does this allow you to change what kind of mob a spawner will spawn?
No, you cannot change the type of monster spawned with a spawner using an inventory editor. You might be able to change the monster spawned using a map editor.
Hey i did this but when i opened the invgrid all i got was the sections and everything but the inventory was blank and if i had to go to the open world x thing where is it?
This might be kind of random, but i dont understand how to create a custom item. I dont know where the settings directory is and im trying to figure out if it is possible to make a useable plane cuz i made an airport and i thought it might be cool. Please respond and Thanks :smile.gif:!!!
No you cannot. It would be nice to add but not a priority. Patches are welcome!

I'm assuming you are on a Mac. With InvGrid open, look for the menu bar at the very top of your screen. Click File and then Open. You will see an open dialog with a list of your Minecraft worlds. Open the directory with the name of your world, select level.dat in that folder, and then click the Open button.
The "Open World X" isn't relevant anymore now that you can name and have more than five worlds.

Wont work on my mac 10.4.11 Suggestions?
InvGrid for OS X only runs on 10.5 (Leopard) and 10.6 (Snow Leopard). Maybe try a different Minecraft inventory editor?

You can't actually "create" custom items with InvGrid. It just has the ability to show custom items by type. For example, say you installed a mod that has a "Trampoline Block" with the type 350. You could make InvGrid recognize all blocks with a type of 350 as a "Trampoline Block." This way they can be added or removed from your inventory. Actually adding new items to Minecraft requires modding.
When ever i try to select a world it says "Does file exist and do you have permission to use it"? what is going on?
Are you using the Open World X (with X being a world number) menu option? Try just going to File->Open and selecting the level.dat for the world you want to open. See my post above yours for more detailed instructions.

I'm planning to add that. If you don't mind compiling from source, Joshtronic on GitHub has a fork of InvGrid that already has it.

I do not, sorry!
