Thanks a lot, by the way, for troubleshooting this with us!

Thanks for uploading! You appear to be right, I don't have any issues opening your level.dat file. I'll do a quick code review and see if I can spot anything. In effort to help track down the issue, can you please post your version of OS X (Leopard or Snow Leopard) and CPU architecture?
I'm using Leopard (10.5) on a MacBook Pro - I'm not sure, though, exactly what information you're looking for in terms of "CPU architecture", but I'm happy to give you any information if you nudge me in the right direction.
This is the console output, btw, when I try to open that level.dat file I posted:
You usually would upload to your own site or something like Megaupload. Although, you can hold off for now. nate451 already uploaded one and he is having the same problem.

You can see an example level.dat that makes InvGrid v0.2 crash for me at this URL:
I suspect it's not a level-specific bug, though, as it happens any time I try to use the Open World X shortcuts, too.

Can you please run Console.app in your Applications->Utilities folder and post what shows up right after you run it? Also, what version of OS X are you running and which CPU architecture?
this is what popped up in the console
Oct 5 16:33:21 Totsy crashdump[283]: InvGrid crashed
Oct 5 16:33:21 Totsy crashdump[283]: crash report written to: /Users/taragatto/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/InvGrid.crash.log
oh i think my version is to old my version is 10.4.11
How about an app icon? I'd help, but I'm an iOS developer so no idea what size icons you OSX fellows use.
Well this guy has a photoshop template and tutorial: http://tutorialdog.com/how-to-create-icons-for-mac-os-x/ -- OS X icons, like true type fonts, have renderings at different sizes so that things scale well. 512 x 512 is the largest size.
Oops, maybe you were excusing yourself from the task..
Why not simply a screenshot of the inventory screen?
Works like a charm for me. Thanks a bunch! This is great.

Hi, new user/lurker here - just wanted to say mine was crashing on load too, but the new version runs great! Thanks!
I'm happy to hear it's working now!

I was planning to go ahead and release 0.3 but an icon is a good idea. I'm not much of an artist though. If someone wants to step up, please do! :wink.gif:

I think shrinking down the inventory screen would look just like a gray block. Although, I guess that's better than the generic icon.
One problem I have with InvGrid though, If I make an item in an infinite number (255) and pick that same item up before I place it, the item turns from unlimited in quantity to 1. Not sure if you can help.
Thank you for this, I felt like I owe you something, have an icon.
It very simple tell me what you think

Thanks again for the software.
Thanks a lot for the icon! I'll go ahead and insert it for the 0.3 release.
That's just an issue with Minecraft. It doesn't want stacks of items over 64. The underlying data structure supports up to 255, which is useful for placing lots of blocks, so I set it go that high.

help lol
every time i use the editor - even if i use it on a world with inventory stuff - it just says -empty world- when i go to it. any solutions
Is it a relatively new world? Try cycling some items in and out of your inventory and wait a couple minutes for the world to generate. Then, with at least one item in your inventory, save & quit out of Minecraft before using InvGrid.

Thanks for the report, I'll investigate. Your world should still be there even though it says it's empty. If your world is there but Minecraft crashes, post your level.dat and I'll try to repair it. I'm not going to repair them for everybody but you've been helpful.
@PanasFANBOY
This was fixed in version 0.3-rc1, which you can download here. I'll update my top post when 0.3 goes live.
@everyone
It's not recommended to add minecarts or chests to your inventory with InvGrid until I've investigated the crash.
@scgreg
I could not reproduce the crash or problem with Minecraft. Can you please post the level.dat next time you have problems?
In the mean time, here is an updated version of InvGrid. Download InvGrid-0.3-rc2
Changes sinces 0.3-rc1
-Added Lachy17689's icon as the application icon.
-Added automatic backup of level.dat on save.
-Added debugging output to console when loading items of unknown formats.
Suggestions:
If the maximum amount of stackable items would be 64, why not make it a standard? Typing in the maximum amount every time by hand is just a waste of time.
New item to mutiple Inventory places or duplicate item option.
If you inventory edit (use invgrid) the maximum is 255 but it appears has infinite, (if you don't exit the game). Though a good idea it shouldn't be standard. My suggestion to that would to create a preferences menu, where the option to always make item's quantity 64, 255 etc can be selected.
Might as well use this post for some suggestions, it is time consuming having to go Library>App Support etc, if you're selecting a save file that is saved to the desktop for example. Why not have Save to world 1, 2,3 and so on, under the file menu?
Another suggestion already said by others would to have a combined search & drop down menu (if at all possible).
And finally I would love to see an option that if enabled would make the given inventory automatically in use when starting Minecraft, basically every time you open that save in game, it will use that inventory you've chosen (without the need of opening invgrid every time). Just suggestions, not very practical.

Yeah, I'm sorry potatoman1234. I can't support anything older than 10.5.

Changes since 0.3-rc2
-Fixed corruption of files on save if the file was originally opened with an empty inventory.
It's listed as "White Cloth."
Maybe I should add a way to search for items by name?
That would be much appreciated. I get impatient trying to scroll through that drop-down list.
