I can do the same thing with this that it took:
45min
Cartograph
PS CS5
to make something that yields similar results, and mine only used about 10 layers.
Great program, mrkite. I love it. The slider really increases interactivity and makes it easy to visualize cave systems, deposits, etc. Thank you for writing it!
Near as I can tell, sounds like its only showing up in XP, though not many Vista users have responded with similar problems. The issue is only caused when one right-clicks coal ore, the box with the name appears, but not the name itself from my tests. Everything else seems to work, fine; is there any variation in how the text is parsed between it and other ore?
Is there any possibility that you could make the layers get progressively darker as they get further below the selected layer? I am only thinking a very slight change in brightness just to help distinguish depth, the current topographic lines can make it hard to see depth especially underground.
Either way, very cool and useful program!
I use a mac and I'm having some trouble opening minutor, I've tried downloading Xcode but can't get it to install. Is there anyway I can install minutor without using Xcode?

Well, since it's a halloween update I think it'll be something Halloween themed like Skeletons, Zombies, and Spiders, and maybe something new and creative like a walking green bomb.
I just installed this program for the first time and I am getting this Error:
Couldn't load world: Unable to load DLL 'MinutorMap.dll': The specified module could not be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007E)
The program itself will open but when I click 'View' (and it's set to view world 1 and I only have 1 world) that is when the Error message comes up. Downloaded approx 10 Minutes before I made this post.
OS: Windows 7, 64 Bit.
Ask for any more information on my PC not sure what you need.
I really like that you actually care and that you're fixing bugs as soon as you can (It looks like this is the case by all your responses to bug posts).

In the folder where Minutor is installed, is MinutorMap.dll actually present? If you downloaded the zip file, make sure you've extracted the dll file into the folder as well.
Anyway, sup to mrkite77. Awesome little tool you have here. Not sure if this has been picked up by anyone else yet but I've found a little issue. Basically after touching the delve slider (or pressing Tab, which will select the delve slider, but you can't Tab select to the next thing since there isn't one), you can't 'reselect' the screen and Pan using arrow keys or Zoom using PgUp/PgDn, as pressing any of those keys will only move the slider. Only mouse interaction will still work. I'm using Windows 7 which may or may not be associated.
Though this got me thinking of a suggestion, maybe hotkeys for moving the slider independently too? Comma (<) and . (>) keys perhaps? And maybe the number keys can hotkey to specific levels, 1 for absolute top, 0 for very bottom, 2-9 for equal sections in between? I reckon instead of having the layer number pop up only when you're holding the slider, you can have it displayed somewhere conveniently.
Also for the Inspect block function, having it displayed somewhere automatically as the mouse runs over it rather than right click would be brilliant too. Oh yeah, and some sort of limit for the viewable area, since you can keep dragging or panning the map away and beyond till you lose it in the whiteness.
Another minor thing I picked up was that you couldn't go diagonal with the Arrow keys (as in pressing two at once ie up + right).
Hope that helps in the dev!

Animator, artist, asian, australian, bookworm, brother, christian, dancer, drummer, gamer, graphics designer, muso, ninja, programmer, traceur, web designer. Sup mate. Go ahead, ask me a question. Something random ;D
Awesome program! It's great to be able to just dive into the map like that.
But..... I'm also getting the crash on right clicking coal. Not a big deal, I'll just not do that ... :-) (Patient: "Hey, doc, my arm hurts when I do this....." Doc: "Don't do that then...." Lol)
I sent a error report to microsoft, but I don't know if that will help at all. I'm on Win XP SP3 .....

I'm pretty sure xcode isn't required. (Can't guarantee it since the 2 macs I can test on both have xcode installed). You should be able to mount the dmg, and drag the app into Applications.

Thank you very much, This fixed the problem entirely.
Very much appreciated, Thanks to anyone else you tried to help me as well.
I would like to request this program show flowers/plants on the map.
One reason is that they can serve as very good beacons for mapping programs, and that seems to be one thing this program lacks (shows torches and all, hopefully that means flowers could work, too)

It could show flowers. I had made it not show them because I thought they were distracting. I can add them back though.

Perhaps an option to toggle them for the user? I know I don't really want to see flowers, because my map has a LOT of them. That's all I'd see. >.<

I like this idea a great deal. If Minutor was easy to use now, it would be so simple there would be no reason not to use it! (Re: limit the viewable area - perhaps a button to center back on your spawn/a location you bookmark?)
Is there any way to mark the spawn location? I've kinda forgotten where mine is...>.>
I also have the right-click on coal = crash bug. Win XP 64-bit.
Awesome program. I used Cartographer and Minecraft X-Ray, and didn't like them very much. This one is very easy to use, and I found a mob spawner. :biggrin.gif:

I do plan to add a toggle-able icon overlay that would mark your spawn and chests, and other things (flowers were also part of that.. if you download the sourcecode, and look in Minutor/icons you can see some icons I put together for it).
Until then, just remember that the map always starts centered on your spawn.
0.2.3 is out.. fixes the missing ore problem.
Still don't have any idea what's going on with the coal ore right-click bug for some windows people.

Nope. It's identical to any other block.
