someone should make a pack for TerraFirmaCraft, that would be great ^^

If you can't, don't post the damn km-long thing.
It is REALLY annoying for everybody.
Here's an "xray" type of settings file to use to find dungeons. Basically makes everything invisible except for mossy cobble, chests and monster spawners. To use it, run Minutor, then go to "view" then "manage definitions". Hit "add pack" and select this file from the dialog, hit OK, and the Dungeon Finder pack should be at the top of the list, close back to the main window. Open your world and look around for dungeons. To get back to normal, go back to the definitions dialog and remove the dungeon finder pack, reload your world.
Not as nice as the old texture color settings use to be, which let you change on the fly, but it works.
Also would like to see the hide obscured function come back, that was really handy.
I've used the 1.6 version for some months now, and I really did search the web for a good map "viewer" beforehand. I landed on Minutor, and I was really pleased. Only thing missing was that I could not export the file or save the file. So instead I did print screens and stiched our server world together, this was however very time consuming and could result in some glitches. Not to mention not something you do for every new project on the server.
I was very pleased when I saw this new version had a good export option. The program itself flickers and shows just about nothing if you change from the default small view, but that is no problem as long as I can get a good PNG file to post to my server mates.
Sadly the program crashes at exactly 75% rendering each time, tried also a different computer. And with this new version I cant screenshot either, as its so small it would take days to stich our world together.
Our region size is about 1 GB
My system is 64 bits win 7
16 GB ram

Anything that can be done here ?
To answer myself a little.
I did a new backup of the server, 1 GB, and tried again today with Minotor, now it managed to render the entire world, landing on about a 15 mb PNG file.
Tried also to put on lighting to get a night map, but then the render prosess crashes the program after a few seconds.
Just tried the last version of Minutor on my server's world, and it didn't go that well. If I don't resize the window, it seems to be OK. But once I maximize it or stress it a little too much, it struggles to render the whole picture, displaying "randomly" placed fragments, clearing them afterwards before finally crashing.
- Do you have logs somewhere I can provide you with ?
- The overworld is around 440 MB.
- I run it with 2 GB of RAM available.
It uses too much memory to run full screen, you have to keep the window at a certain size (experiment until you find it) when zoomed out all the way. If you zoom in, you can run it full screen, just don't zoom out or it will hit the memory barrier and crash.

I have a problem with the "Open World" action in 2.0.
I have ~340 worlds saved on my computer. Mainly because I review seeds as a form of entertainment. Some of them I actually play on a regular basis.
In 1.6.3 "Open World" produces a single column that I have to scroll down through for minutes, it seems, to finally get to the world I wish to view. This is slow, but at least I can get to all my worlds this way.
In 2.0 I get a full screen of world names but it ONLY shows the first 240 worlds and there is no horizontal scroll function.
That means I have to use the open file option that seems to keep going back to the folder where Minutor.exe resides so I have to keep navigating back to my saves folder. This is quite annoying.
What other kind of file would I want to open?

for me it more looks like 32-bit limitation -> 32bit Intiger for caching much over 2M pixels to draw
Yeah, it's compiled as a 32-bit app on Windows (64 bit on Linux and OSX). Another problem is that I think I've got the cache size set a little too low.
In chunkcache.cpp there's a cache.setMaxCost(5000); which means it'll cache 5000 chunks or 1,280,000 blocks.
I'm thinking at the very least, that should be set to 8200. That would be a large enough cache to cover a 1080p resolution if each pixel were a block. (If the view window gets larger than the cache, problems occur)
I've been looking at making a 64-bit version on Windows.. I'm not entirely sure how to do that with Qt. If I get it figured out, I'll push out a new version that also doubles the size of the chunk cache.
If you're feeling adventurous, you can make the change yourself and compile it. The README tells you how.

This same thing happened to me too... however, Minutor is now not working at all!!! I quit the program and opened it again several times, but it is still refusing to render anything!

I'm really glad to see this still around! I used it ages ago, then for various reasons hadn't used it in a year or so - was really pleased to find it still working and updated! Thanks a lot, it's a super handy tool =)
Hey, I've used minutor in the past and just got it again since the recent 2.0 update, but I have a question.
Do you still use the level.dat files? I'm trying to map a server that I host for my friends. I go to file => open and then find where my server worlds are saved, enter the folder and try to select the level.dat file, but it's grayed out. If I try to select it anyway, I get the error "<insert file location here> is not a valid Minecraft world."
Having a problem with the 2.0 version of Minutor. I'm pretty sure this version used to work, and I've tried it on two different Win7 computers. It does still work on Win XP, so I think a recent security update or some other update in Win 7 has broken Minutor. What happens is nothing, run Minutor and it appears in the task list for a few seconds then goes away. The UI never shows up. Minutor 1.6.3 still works fine though.
I was trying to view a world with the new snapshot biomes. 1.6.3 will show the map fine, but list the biome as unknown.

I have a near same situation, except I am still on Winxp sp3. I click on the exe and: Minutor.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
This occured only after I started checking out the snapshops. But even when the MC 1.2.2 launcher is set to the ver. 1.6.2 profile, it still will not boot up. The older Minutor 1.6.3 does still work for me also.

I don't know since when this problem occurs. The last time I used Minutor is a few weeks ago, today I wanted to see how much I have discovered in my world and it just crashes.

You must be right. I was playing a bit with the latest snapshot yesterday, because I was curious about the new biomes. Deleting the snapshot world resolved this problem.

I deleted my one snapshot world and Minutor 2.0 started just fine. So it seems just having a snapshot save wont allow Minutor to load up.
