Thanks for the suggestion, mdt7734 :smile.gif:. I'll start work on it now, but you probably won't be able to choose the drive letter of the java folder (for portability reasons), so you'll need to keep the java files on the same drive as Minecraft.
Don't need drive letters, relative paths are all i'd want, like ..\..\java
I'm not sure how I can better explain it, sorry :sad.gif: It's completely situational and not really something that's done step-by-step. Maybe someone who's better at tutorials can help out...?

In relation to the new java path variable, unless you have a special need to conserve space, then you do not need to do anything beyond what you've already been doing thus far to use this application. It sets it self standard by default. I put basic steps below on how to run it this way, as originally intended.
Download minecraft portable,
Put it on a memory stick
Run it and exit
Download the Java Portable
Extract the java portable link provided to the mcp_data folder.
From here after, run minecraft portable from your memory stick for minecraft on the go!
I wish this worked with ZombieCraft.... Could you get it too somehow?
ZombieCraft runs Minecraft itself (as well as it's own Java program), so unless the creator includes some way to use Java Portable, I don't think it's possible, sorry.
Anyway, working on a rewrite of the code, removing old functions, simplifying it, etc. The next version will also download the launcher from Notch's server on first run instead of including it in the .exe (so I won't have to manually update the launcher myself). It'll be non-intrusive - the launcher will just be contained in a 'launcher' folder inside 'mcp_data'.

Updated again, as I said I would, 2.5.4 :smile.gif: :
- Now downloads the launchers from Notch's server, instead of containing them inside the EXE, and thus removing the need to update them manually when Notch updates them. Don't worry, this won't affect your current installation; they will be stored in a 'launcher' folder in 'mcp_data'.
- Complete rewrite/cleanup of the code. Run 'minecraftp.exe -decompile' from the command line if you want to take a look.
gentlemen, i got all the files required to make a portable minecraft running
i can't seem to get it running and i have some questions [>>-i>]
1. i do not have minecraft.exe, but i do have minecraft.jar. what do?
2. i run minecraftp.exe, and some error pops out with a statement that says its an invalid win32 app.
thanks in advance
This is a really weird issue, and I'm also seeing it on my other computer. Can you show me what directory minecraftp.exe is in?
Are there other problems, like:
- INI settings aren't working
- 'launcher' folder isn't created at all
Also, strangely enough, the same computer that has issues with this also has issues with older versions of Minecraft Portable. The other 2 computers work fine. I've just got no idea about what could cause it.

I'm trying to set this up for school tomorrow and I have a question.
Is it only portable if you run the minecraftp.exe file? Or can I launch the game from mcp_data/launcher/minecraft.jar?
Exe files are blocked from executing at my school. As are bat files. Yet, jar files are not.

Nope, sorry :sad.gif:. The 'minecraft.jar' is just the Minecraft launcher - it's exactly the same as the one downloaded from Notch's site.

Is it possible to make a jar file that launches minecraft like a bat file, only it's a jar? I believe you can launch files and use arguments with Java... but you probably have more experience under your belt than I do
Would this by ANY chance allow Minecraft to be played on saaay....my PSP?
Nope! Sorry, that's not what it means by 'portable'. This allows Minecraft to be installed and played in only one folder, instead of having to be downloaded to AppData. This allows you to say, play the game at work, or at school where you might not be able to access minecraft.net, or something like that.

Thanks for implementing it!!!
My mcp_config.ini look like this in each minecraftp setup
I set EnableLog = true to make sure it is picking up my java path. Log generated is mcp_log.txt
I could, but for just installing? Or changing java path?

I have no idea where to find that jar...
It's not much, but feel free to use it.
MediaFire link to .ico file.
Are you sure you're connected to the internet when you run Minecraft Portable? Make sure a firewall, etc, isn't interfering, too.
Otherwise, I have no idea what's causing this. I might just ditch the auto-download function and just go back to an internal launcher.
