Took me a while to get this working from the command line until I tried the GUI's batch mode to see what it was doing. :smile.gif:
Yeah, I ran into the problem of requiring at least 2 arguments when I was first coding the GUI, had to add the world and perspective options before I could get it to work, which I thought was weird because one of the earlier versions would just output world 1 flat if you just ran with no arguments.
Didn't know it wouldn't work without proper capitalization and extension though, but the code to start an external process through C# requires the extension, and I had given it the proper capitalized file name anyway, and it just takes what it would have sent as a new process and ships it to the bat file when writing to a batch.
Having a lot of issues running the executable on multiple operating systems:
Server 2008 Enterprise x86 (clean install):The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more detail.
Server 2003 Enterprise x86 (clean install):
This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.
Generally the same errors for Server 2008 Enterprise R2 x64 as well. Any ideas? What is weird is I had this working at one point in time on a Server 2008 VM. Once I moved it to a new server I can't seem to get it to run again by double clicking it or running it in a command prompt.

Is this for AlphaVespucci or my GUI? I'll assume AlphaVespucci.
Looks like it's an error in the .manifest file, but it could be for another program that's interfering with it, or a .NET redistributable installation issue.
Is there any chance that signs in the game could be placed on the openlayers map as markers or extracted into a csv so that I could have a script place the markers? That would be spectacular. Thanks for considering it! http://dev.openlayers.org/docs/files/Op ... er-js.html
+1 for parsing specially formatted signs to generate markers. I currently use Minecraft Overlayer and scan for all signs with text as "#Some Text" and output to a markers.js file as a marker with text "Some Text". (This isn't built into Overlayer, either, but I leverage its source to do this as post-production.) Would be awesome to have this in AlphaVespucci. Recommend that the marker key ("#" for me) be configurable.
EDIT: BTW, tried to do some post-processing with AV as well, but it seems that 0,0 is not constant at all zoom levels. :sad.gif: Could 0,0 be placed at the map's Spawn Point? (Could this also be why double-clicking does not properly zoom to the clicked location?)

Already reported, and OrangeXP will be fixing the zoom issue when he has time. Placing spawn at 0,0 is probably harder because the only dynamic input to tile mode is a png, which I doubt is enough to identify the spawn point.
I am not a computer expert but i would like to make a batch file to run some of these commands to see my world in different ways. I am able to make the batch file but it seems to not want to find the location of my map. Anyone want to give a quick word on what to do to make a decent batch file for those not so good in code?
By the way i use xp so im having to use -p but its what is giving me problems i believe.

You could try AMS PE. I used it for Minecraft Backup Tool which works with AlphaVespucci by default. (You can check out the source for examples, although that source is way more advanced/complicated than what you need.)
You could make a really nice command interface very easily...just toss some buttons on a page (I like the xButtons because they use the standard Windows theme), and make each one run AlphaVespucci with the args you want.
Running AlphaVespucci can be done with a single command:
You can change the SW_NORMAL to SW_HIDE if you want to hide AlphaVespucci's window.
You can get the path to the world folder with this function:
-- get the full path to the location where the world files are saved
-- world: the name of the world folder, i.e. Worldn where n is a number from 1 to 5
-- example: worldOnePath = GetWorldPath("World1");
function GetWorldPath(world)
return Shell.GetFolder(SHF_APPLICATIONDATA).."\\.minecraft\\saves\\"..world;
end

What arguments are you using? You need to specify at least 2 arguments, and IIRC you need to specify -obleft (or one of the other commands) with the -p command...e.g. this worked for me:
AlphaVespucci.exe -obleft -p <worldpath>
...replacing <worldpath> with a valid full path to the world folder, of course. :smile.gif:
Placing spawn at 0,0 is probably harder because the only dynamic input to tile mode is a png, which I doubt is enough to identify the spawn point.
Include the spawn point information as metadata within a PNG ancillary chunk. If I'm not mistaken, sharing a common origin should also solve the zoom-centering issue, shouldn't it? But with regards to my earlier post, it would allow the accurate use of the OpenLayers MapMarkers functionality.
V.1.09 Oct.31,2010 (Halloween)
-Added (-hell) for rendering the hellish-looking dimension that was added for Halloween. The region is basically a large cave, so there isn't an efficient way (yet) to display the features in it without exposing some of the smaller cave areas.
-Hopefully fixed the zoom in/out bug on OpenLayers maps (inconsistency with the picture tiler).
-Removed the border CSS styling for the HTML body of an OpenLayers map, since it conflicts with mouse coordinates in Mozilla Firefox at the moment.
-May have fixed the error with one parameter not making the program work.
Kinda in a hurry to get this out; surprisingly, I fixed the zoom bug. The white/blacklist names for the new blocks are currently named:
"Pumpkin",
"Brimstone",
"Glueblock",
"Hellpowder",
"Portal", and
"Pumpkin lantern"
You should be able to guess which ones they represent for now. Will be revising some things over the next week, hopefully. Currently making a -whereami function (it's broken for oblique maps atm). Maybe I can finally get annotations working since the locations are fixed now.
Thanks for the update I appreciate it a lot, works great only minor issue i'm having is fullname opperand dosn't seem to be working right anymore, it just gets renamed to .png .... odd issue nothing major but odd, the name opperand works fine thou so i'll use that for now untill it's addressed, just figured i'd let you know.
Hello, I generate the map for the web, but apparently the interface does not allow it.
Solution.
Thank you in advance.
English is not your first language, is it? Let's see if I understand correctly. What you do is you click the little button with "..." to browse your hard drive for a png map for each map layer at the left. Then you name each map layer in the middle column, and set it to be an Altmap, Overlay, or Dualmap at the right column. The Main Map is required. You can give the map a title at the top right with the check box and text box, and set the output folder at the top right.
Once you have selected all the maps and done whatever you want to them, you click "Build Conf" and then "Run Conf". I think Run Conf will automatically build the Conf as well if it's not there, but it's been a while since I looked at that section of code.
You must generate maps at least once before you can add them to build the conf.
By the way, why are the boxes blacked out? Did you do that or does it start up that way?
No actually, I'm French and I use a translator, sorry if my messages are not understandable.
I do not know why the areas are black, I is not touched.
I took a screenshot of the console, even if it closes quickly.
I think I see what could be the problem. It's might be with how the GUI writes the conf file, or it might be with the web maps functionality of AlphaVespucci itself. A character in your user name, an é or an è I assume, in Michael, is apparently causing difficulty in it's ability to find the directory to take the maps from or export to. Or it could be something to do with Win Vista or Win 7 user permissions.
Try doing it in a directory that you have made yourself at the top level of the drive, i.e. C:\AV\, instead of in your Desktop. You will want to export the maps there and import them for the map from there and export the web map to there. Also, delete the already generated webmap.conf and alphavespucci.bat before hand, as it adds any new commands to the end of the conf or bat file and does not overwrite it. Tell me if that works.

I used to use Cartograph, but this is faster, and I can generate all my maps on a playlist-type thing!
I'd high-five you Orange, but I'm probably not close to worthy.

fullName leaves the name blank (produces a file named ".png" and "-stat.txt")
replaceName is just ignored entirely...
