I think keeping guests out of chests is more important than them being able to read signs. You can always set the !motd and !rules for info for guests. You can have a bunch of signs worth of text with those two commands.
Out of my experience I can tell ya, only 5% of all players reads the motd. Not even 1% the rules...
Perhaps more players would read the motd with coloring? (But I think it won't go over 20%...)
PS @SpiegalPwns: You got a donation for the great work. :smile.gif:
I downgraded from 9.3 to 9.2, and then 9.0 but it threw a lot of exceptions. So i've just turned off the API for now. If you are still using the OLD version of the API (7.0) then you're fine. Just keep using it. If you've upgraded, please take the downgrade path. Apparently there are issues with map corruption.
Great to see warp points being added. You're making great progress and this wrapper keeps getting better!
Coloured text in the MOTD would be great. Has the spacing fix with titles/names been sorted?
Sorry if this is stupid, but how do I set the the spawn point? There is no /sethome command in the command list?
You cannot currently set the spawn point using this wrapper. Eventually I may create a plugin that allows you to do this.
Also FYI this is the only wrapper right now that even has warps so ;D

Yeah I'm looking into the colored text thing.
There wasn't a "fix" for the spacing on titles/names. Instead I implemented a msgFormat and msgTitleFormat into simpleserver.properties which allows you to set the format for names with and without titles.
Hi, I've recently buy minecraft and i'm totally new to this, but I'm trying to have fun with a server ^^ I've play a little with your server, but i've some problems ^^ I want a server where i build everything I want and where nobody will destroy my constructions ^^ I can play single player for that, but I want to play with my friends ^^ I've take your server and run it. No problems with that. I've set "defaultgroup" to "-1" so everyone was a guest and when I make me "OP" I can't destroy what i want. I've created some groups in "group-list.txt" but I don't know how to put account in groups. I know it's a totaly noob problem ^^ but, I want to learn ^^ Thanks you in advance for your help ^^

You have to set yourself as an admin in member-list.txt
If you haven't changed the groups in groups-list.txt, then admin is either #3 or #4
so in member-list.txt add a line:
YourName=4
Where YourName is your minecraft name. It is case INSENSITIVE. So capital letters don't matter, but I suggest using all lower case.
If you do this while the server is running, you have to type !reload into the console in order for the changes to be loaded.

Even after set me as an admin in "member-list.txt" the server see me as a guest. When i'm using the chat, "[Guest]" was before my name.
EDIT : Oh wait, I think I found my error.
EDIT 2 : Alright now ^^ many thanks ^^
EDIT 3 : I give you some $$ for helping me and for encouraging you ^^
Need help! I did what the Readme file said, but when I launched "launch.bat" for the first time, it said it could not access Minecraft_server.jar.
All other times after that it states the same, and when I press enter.

when I press a key to continue, it just shuts down.
Please help! I am so tired of programs like this not working for me, and I just really want to play online on the downloaded client with my friends.
1) The program isn't working for you not because of the program, but because of you. You have to understand that if you are one person having a problem out of dozens, then it is most likely YOUR fault.
2) Let's solve the issue. Did you download minecraft_server.jar from minecraft.net?
I just redownloaded minecraf_server.jar AND SimpleServer, and followed the readme file to the point. Same **** happened. Is there something I should write in the properties file, because I dont understand half of what stands there.

Properties look OK, and doing more than skimming over your error (sorry, thought it was network earlier), it looks like it's having access problems to the server's file or to it's own directory. You may want to confirm you have write permissions to the directory it's in and that the file is not read-only. Also, what OS?
I unchecked the read-only box in the folder properties and launched simpleserver.
Failed to load Main-Class manifest attribute from minecraft-server.jar
[SimpleServer] Minecraft process stopped unexpectedly! Automatically restarting...
Then I press enter and recieve the list of errors from earlier

FWIW, here's what I'm using for the simpleserver.properties file that includes a space and also colors the opening "<".
Hey spielgal, I have a problem, when ever my server does something simple server doesn't like, simpleserver tries to restart the server, and thus shuts down the server. But I guess it cant find the file to launch it again, is there anyway I can tell it where the .jar is or where do I place the .jar so simpleserver can find it?
I'm having what I think might be a Java issue, but I'm not certain.
I can launch minecraft_server.jar and it works okay. I can connect remotely and play with no issues.
When I launch the batch file for simpleServer.jar nothing happens. The command prompt is blank. I have turned echo on, and it shows the command line and arguments, and nothing else. Nothing loads, nothing is executed, it just hangs and does nothing. If I use ctrl-c to abort the file, it will exit, and the java process is left hanging.
The same thing happens if I just double click to execute the .jar files. The normal server works fine, but the simple server does nothing. There is a pause, and then nothing happens.
I'm using the latest version of java (jre6). The server host is Windows XP. I'm using windows firewall (exceptions are in) and behind a router (ports are forwarded). Just a reminder that everything works remotely for the normal server, so it's not a router or firewall issue.

windows xp has a lot of problems with simpleserver (and wrappers in general) due to some weird incompatibility in java where windows XP doesn't launch the main class until STDIN is closed for some reason.
So...
Use linux : ) or upgrade to 7

it will try to launch whatever jar is in alternateJarFile
Also if you have exitOnFailure=true then SimpleServer will shut off during a failure, rather than attempt a restart. Just FYI
