Yeah I can't get this to run at all, even after a fresh install of Java. Tried the command line, resetting what opens the files (was winrar for some damned reason) and clicking the link in the thread just makes it redownload itself over and over. This is going on in Windows XP Home SP3 Java 6 update 21.
All a .jar file is is a zip file with the java classes and stuff inside. You should also beable to run it by right clicking and open with Java(TM) Platform SE Binary.
I did, it was very buggy and often crashed my maps. I think I figured out the solution but I'm very busy now and I've lost motivation for this project.
I am trying to edit a 350 MB world map. It loads the whole map and says map loaded but nothing displays. I tried a single player game and it loaded fine. I have removed the Players folder from the world directory. I added XMX 1000 to my Java properties (as I only have 2GB of RAM).
I just randomly selected and deleted 100MB of data and it won't open still. I selected another bunch of random folders ~ 100MB and it still did not open. Private working set memory does not approach anywhere near 1 GB and phsyical memory is never exhausted.
So I just need more memory even though it appears to only be using 2/3 what is allocated?
I've tried Googling with no result, does anyone know if there a way to fool Java into using swap (I know tis will prob be mega slow but not really concerned about that)?
Really nice, I deleted some chunks (about 4/7th of my map, since I migrated so far away from spawn I set it to my house and I don't need the giant distance anymore) but my map file size didn't go down at all.
If the chunks were deleted, why does minecraft still recognize them as there?
Does it just make it so that when I go over that area again it will generate slightly differently?
Is there any chance you will make this have large map support? Currently our map has over 80,000 files and is over 300mb in size. Right now it takes about 10 minutes to load the map but then nothing happens when it says its complete :/
I only have 2 GB of RAM at the moment. Trying to borrow some. I ran this via command prompt so I could see what was happening in the background. I tried xmx1500 which manage to have the entire 350 MB map apparently load, with ~400MB working set in Task Manager, no where near max memory usage. Then all of a sudden lots of crap went flying through the command prompt. Memory usage ballooned out to ~1 GB and got Java Heap Space error.

Your app is good because it simply allows you to select the region of the map that is unwanted and delete it in bulk all from a cartograph without having to fly through the world or zoom or anything. None of the other applications do this.. in others, when you zoom out the graphics don't render because of max view distance or they only allow you to fly through the world or move in small increments, etc. They are in no way the same to me.
Anyway not much we can do.. guess I either borrow hopefully or otherwise buy more RAM (I did have some but I had to give it to my sister.. :/ )
then it's all .class files and 3 folders
While the map is loading I get these errors:
It won't load beyond 80%
Awesome tool :smile.gif:
Edit:
Solved!
Apparently the app didn't like the players folder. O.o
Me and a couple other people got this error when trying to run persistor.jar and hey0 ended up fixing it for us. Not sure how though, sorry.

Is there another map editor that can lower terrain?

Any ideas?
When I Open "Run" What do I type in
E2:HOW DO I OPEN THE MINECRAFT DELETER
E3: Wooow, NVM I found it out

So I'm getting Java heap space.. Task Manager shows ~950MB used. Pyshycal memory is @ 88% but I have managed to give Java 1536MB at run time.

Go to Control Panel -> Java -> Java -> View -> Add the parameter -Xmx 3000m <-- Allows Java to use up to 3000 Mb of ram.
