@Krelos There is a problem if you create a very dense forest if your comp can't handle it. I believe this is because of the light calculations. Try creating a scarcer forest.
@BigD145 - are you using a very old map file? I think Notch changed the level generator scheme a while ago, so if you delete an old map it will regenerate.
Humm, maybe I should also make a tool to smooth out edges like that and make it look more natural...

Yes, it's a very old map. I liked much of what I built and wanted to keep it, so I used your utility to shave off much of the exploration I had done.
I was vastly underestimating the density of the forest, making it generate at only the 1st notch made forests that were as dense as I really wanted.
If the game had been able to run the one where I made it generate on the 8th notch, I probably wouldn't have been able to hardly see between the mass of trunks.
I so wish that you were planning to continue working on this, just for the tree-ability.

Can you please make an .exe of this ? The .jar won't launch. I've the latest java version installed, but double click on it does nothing.
Uninstall and reinstall Java. Java is a fickle beast.
Already done, same problem. " Main class table " blablabla error. Can't do ****. And if i launch the .jar with " java.exe ", a DOS screen quick appear, and then nothing.
I'll look into making an .exe and look more at compatibility.
If you're having trouble running it and feel like helping it would be great if you could give me your version numbers.
To do this on Windows open your Control Panel -> Java -> General Tab -> About
Then post the version like Version 6 Update 21 or build 1.6.0_21-b06 <- note that is what I'm using.
Those pine trees burn really nice... Accidentally* caused a really nasty forest fire by lighting one up... Just generate a forest on dense, light er up, get some distance and watch it burn.
For those having problems opening the world. Just open the path to your World map.
So in the File Browser window just have it say something like C:\User\Chuck\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\World1
You don't need to selecting a .dat file just the directory itself.
@Brandov That's odd with the leaved cutting off at the chunk. I thought I fixed that issue a while ago...

Select chunks with a size (lets say 3x3 to make it easy, selection doesn't have to be a rectangle)
Hit copy
Unselect -> select another area with the same size that you had before (3x3 in our case)
hit paste
save
So I used your mod, made a cool snow world. It looked awsome!
So I went mineing...... I come back up to my cave and the WHOLE WORLD IS BURNING!!!! ALL my trees are on FIRE! So...... I was wondering if this is like something you put in the mod????
If I knew how to take a screen shot id show you guys....
D: I don't remember setting all of the trees to catch on fire ;-;
Did you have lava somewhere near the trees? Since I think that sets trees on fire now.
My forest one time turned into a smoldering mess and I didn't do anything. Of course that's when I was testing with a server and other people were joining. So I have a rough idea what happened...
Iam playing on single player, its a small map, cartograph didnt show any lava on the ground, but iam trying to collect all the wood i can before all my trees burn... lol
I went over a hill and ONLY the tres that i put in with this mod are burning.... the trees that where there are fine...

Generated some very dense forest around the place:
And then copied some of it into the middle of the ocean:
It might not be the most fancy editor out there, but it's still pretty nice :biggrin.gif:
Vivianvideo.com is my website, check it out! ^^ Playing since alpha version 1.0.3!

Select the directory of your world and hit open
