sorry for the double post, but...
If any of you are wondering, here is my completed filter, it works quite well i think (although can be slow with bigger max depth...)
save this as "dropblock.py" in your 'MCEditData\filters\' file

What does the filter do?

lets assume you have a thing like this (side view)

you run the filter, and you want things to fall as far as possible, so you set max drop to 5 (1 less than height, you can set it for lower and blocks would still drop, but only up to the distance you specify) (note also that you can put it higher, but it will have the same result, only slower)
however, you can also specify a block that is immune to the "gravity", so lets say we say gold ore is immune, and a max fall of 2 meters (note that the falls thru liquid check box is simply that, it allows blocks to drop thru liquids if checked, otherwise they will kinda "float" on top)
anyway, results of the above stuff:
Does the new version not work when using on 1.2 maps? I was using v 84 while editing a map, When I was done i saw that v85 was available so i downloaded it, went to try it out with the 1.2 map and it no longer loads the map
No it doesnt work with beta 1.2 maps. If you want to use mcedit with beta 1.2 maps, download an older version of mcedit and dont download the updates. Hope this helps :smile.gif:

So if I were to create a sheet of say grass blocks above terrain, select them, run your filter and set max drop to say 64 it would cause all blocks in that sheet to fall and essentially blanket the ground?
in this scenario would I need to select just the floating sheet or the entire chunk they cover?
Hello! I updated to the newest version of MCEdit and now my maps lag to the extreme. Where are download links to older versions of MCEdit? It worked perfect before I upgraded.
Just made this account to post here, I really shouldn't be playing this game, it's so addictive, but I just want to have some fun with this MCEdit program.. I have it set on Alpha 1.0 (the highest it'll go, I think) when i do the brush right click option, and I'm running Minecraft Beta 1.2, on my eMachines Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit computer, now when I open up the editor, I see my spawn point, my current location of my player, but all around me is just black and stars everywhere, I can't see sand, grass, dirt, blocks etc etc, I don't know if there's something I should do to change this, I've not even played this for a week, so I'm not sure. I downloaded the exe. link, and the Winrar link, and the 3rd one that I might need for windows, so if anyone knows, please reply, will check this regularly.
hey please can you make these ? i just forgot some things
i would be really appreciated if you add these features to your program:
-co ordinate system and how many blocks selected
-select a building and a tool to make it empty from the inside only external blocks will view to make the enterable buildings and also select the whole model and delete from the outside blocks
-make it back compatible with ymod
-double select the blocks by pressing control then selecting it so when you build buildings it will be faster and move blocks faster to fix some side issues..
-youve forget to put the rotations features mirror, rotate, flip etc...not when you clone (when you select the blocks)
-ability to add all wools , red wool , blue wool.... theres no option for all wools only the white
-resize would be greate if you had a pyramid or a building you resize the quantity of blocks , so they will be less and the model will be smaller (because i import some things from binvox and they look big in game , and the code to make it smaller isnt very good)
-apply on corners an option if you had many blocks like a square and from the inside its not empty its full of blocks and if you want to make windows (like making buildings) it will take very much time just apply on the external blocks (the eye that can see) by selecting the whole model
i think if you do these options your program will alot aloot cooler because they are useful
I need some help with saving a chunk-errored world. When i play SSP i get a lot of
Chunk file at 14,16 is in the wrong location; relocating. (Expected 14, 16, got 13, 11)
Chunk file at 8,14 is in the wrong location; relocating. (Expected 8, 14, got 18, 18)
Chunk file at 13,14 is in the wrong location; relocating. (Expected 13, 14, got 13, 15)
Chunk file at 14,16 is in the wrong location; relocating. (Expected 14, 16, got 13, 11)
and if i happend to walk into one of these errors i will get stuck.
But the world seems fine in MCEdit, so i've tried to copy all of the blocks in my world and into a new and empty one, but it doesn't work. Is this even possible? if so, how?

yes, correct. (although, a drop rate of 64 will be verrrry slow)
what i do is i select the stuff i want to drop, and then nudge+z to get the selection boxs to go down to the terrain. If you were to select the entire chunk, it would effect caves, etc, as well
One suggestion though; please make it remember the path that you last opened. It's such a pain to have to type in the full path to the level.dat every time I go in MCedit. Thanks!
Hey,thank you so much for making this tool, it is mind blowing to be able to fly around in your world and see all the hidden caves, I'm not the kind to completely repaint my world yet...but we'll see.
I was playing a world I really liked and minecraft crashed on me, now it wont open the world at all.
I can still open the world with mcedit and see everything, is there a way I can somehow take that map data and put it on a working world to get my world back?
You might be able to go into the saves folder, open the world, and move the 'region' folder into a newly created world.

Yes, you need to go back to alpha80 if you want to use maps from 1.2.

Hi, I just updated to alpha 85 and now when using the brush it doesn't show the ghost image of the brush size making it almost impossible to use.
Any help?
Found the bug, it'll be fixed in the next release.

Been trying to setup a start menu link for this program but keep getting this error in the Terminal before it kills the process:
python: can't open file 'MCEditData/mcedit.pyo': [Errno 2] No such file or directory
If I open mcedit.sh directly it works fine... what am I missing?
Try messing with the "Start In" setting for the shortcut.

What version of MCEdit? You need to shut down the server completely before editing. If you use MCEdit alpha85 to open the world, it will run a chunk-repair routine that fixes exactly those kind of "wrong location" errors.

Is there currently any way to use different leaf and wood types with the fill/replace tool?
That's what I'm working on right now.

I made a tutorial video for this program:

Great work! I like the music.
I can't respond to all your feature requests individually, but I did read them and I'll take them into consideration.
after editing and playin for a while, i edited again, but after a few seconds of playing in minecraft beta, it crashes... and i moved my spawn point which i think was the cause... can i fix this problem?

From the top of the first page:
