Why is it that blocks don't delete instantly? I'll select them, press delete, nothing happens, then it'll either delete when I'm doing something else or not at all. :S

That happened to me yesterday. It does seem to do the delete. It just doesn't sometimes immediately update what you see. It did it to me when I had view distance set to max. So, maybe lowering the view distance will cause less lag in graphical updates.
Yes, by importing the Classic level into your Survival world.

DUDE, I've tried installing it like 10 times, I keep getting this message when I tun it.
Dunno what to tell you, except that someone else who has the same problem is getting back to me on a possible fix.

If I crop the edges my map with this tool, will it generate new chunks? I ventured too far from my base and I want to reduce it some.
After cropping, the game will generate new chunks if you go close enough to the edge.

I can't find a URL to anything newer than 75.3.
Newer version of Python isn't backward compatible with your code? That wasn't very smart of them, if so.
Apparently I don't always post a full release, and you need to use the autoupdate for some versions.
The shift in python versions was planned for a long time. There is a 2to3 converter and a __future__ module in python2.7 that lets you use features of python3. I just don't want to bother, because it's much easier to stay with one version.

Is there a way to select a certain layer on all chunks within the level to change something, without having to manually selecting each section?
Select All, then Nudge the top and bottom using the blue/yellow Nudge buttons.

But would there ever be a freehand selection mode? I think this would be a must have for anyone.
It's a must-have, but I'm not sure when it'll happen because of the sweeping changes involved. I'd have to rewrite most of the editing suite in terms of a "masked selection" instead of just a bounding box.

The graphical update isn't immediate. I've been meaning to draw boxes around to show you which ones are still updating, but like a lot of things I've been dragging my feet on it.

black screen on first run ubuntu 10.10 all requirements are installed
I'm a Mac user using 10.5.8 and I'm having some trouble getting MCEdit 75.3 to work using shockburner's installation instructions for 'older mac users'. I cleared out my devtools and installed Python 2.6.6, logged out and back in, and followed the rest of shockburner's instructions to the letter.
Yet I'm still getting an error that FUZZY COBALT mentioned earlier where, after entering ./mcedit.sh into the terminal, the terminal says ImportError: No module named OpenGL. There didn't seem to be any later comments in the thread indicating a resolution of the issue, so I'm stuck.
Any suggestions, or better yet, a working build for 10.5?

Actually, I just noticed Shockburner's instructions are for 10.6 and aren't really needed because of the 10.6 app build. It's slightly different on 10.5.
All you need to do is reboot after installing Python 2.6.6, and then install the other requirements. OS 10.5.8 only includes Python2.5, so unless you reboot, you're just installing the requirements into the old python.

CyanSnow: You used 'Water' which is the ACTIVE variety - the game will lag and take a lot of time to start it flowing, and then convert it into 'Stationary Water'. Only use 'Water' if you need it to start flowing down a hill or something.
Here's a thought: how about renaming them to "Water" (still version) and "Flowing Water" (active version). Or give them both suffixes ("Water (still)", "Water (flowing)"). When faced with a choice between "water" and "stationary water", I suspect a lot of people would just choose "water" without thinking about the consequences.
as an addition in would be useful if you add "generate" in selected zone. For example you select giant flat surface and ask editor to generate here forest. Or you select gigantic box and ask to generate here mountain...

Anything in the console?

Edit: Ah. You have to click where it says [VERSION] is available (top-left).

Thanks! Lowering the view distance helped.

(Not sure if this will affect blocks in the process of burning up, but it should get rid of "stuck" fire, I think.)
