Using Build 29 whenever a dialog box opens I cant move my mouse, exiting out of the window of mcedit (alt-tab, widnows button, etc) crashes. (such as trying to import a schematic.) Using Windows XP 32.
stable30 is posted. This one adds several more of the new blocks from 1.8 and adds graphics for stairs.
stable30:
- Added all three variations of hidden silverfish blocks: Stone, Cobblestone, Stone Brick
- Added graphics for all four kinds of stairs
- Added rotation info for the new stairs, Chests, and Vines
- Replacing different types of stairs will preserve the stairs' orientation.
- Fixed the Move Player tool not working correctly
- Fixed the Topsoil brush not working inside caves
- Fixed a problem where the window wouldn't remember its size correctly
- Fixed a problem where the mouse control became unusable after resizing the window
- Copy/Import operations now create chunks and copy blocks in a single pass
- Added more progress bars
Trying to do this, but Save doesn't highlight when I mouseover it - instead hovering over both Save and Delete just highlights Delete. Anything I can do to fix this?
You need to download and reinstall MCEdit to replace an old version of a supporting library.

Try the latest version, then take a screenshot of the crash and of the misbehaving dialog. Tell me if you can navigate the dialog using your keyboard.
Here's a minor footnote. The feature that preserves stair orientation when you replace e.g. Wooden Stairs with Brick Stairs does a bit more than that. It should also preserve orientation when you replace Chests, Furnaces, or Dispensers with each other - since they use the same data values for orientation. Same goes for Wooden / Iron doors, Torches / Redstone Torches, and any other blocks that have the same data for block rotation.
when i enter imports, nothing freaking happens. IT FREEZES!!!!! im trying to bite back my anger, but its tough. FIX IT!!! im sick of this error!
From the wealth of information you've provided, I have two possible solutions for you.
- Download and reinstall MCEdit
- Reformat your hard drive and reinstall Windows. (I'm not kidding. I don't know what state your computer is in and this is the easiest way to get you into a known-good configuration.)
If you want to be taken seriously, there are four pieces of information requested of you at the top of the original post. Minecraft Version, MCEdit Version, Windows/OS X/Linux Version, and contents of log window or error log.
After hearing a dozen complaints about the thread not loading, I tried loading the thread in both Firefox and Chrome. It seems to only load in Chrome. A blank page is shown in Firefox. I removed the poll from the thread and it looks like it loads in Firefox now. Let's see if that fixed it anyone else.
I can't do anything with the Forester. I Click Filter, but nothing generates. I have a box. I get an error int he console about Invalidating Box. I'm trying to do the floating island. Nothing the filters works. I'm using the 64bit version. Should I try the x86 version?
codewarrier, I love mcedit and I use it a lot, I also have some suggestions which I would love to see in future updates.
I was going to say graphics and rotation for stairs, but that was just added
Graphics and rotation for redstone wire
Editing schematic files separately, rather than importing, editing, re-exporting
"Wildcard" or "Anything" blocks in the schematics, as a way to differ between air blocks and null blocks. What I mean by this is, certain things I export as schematics are odd shapes, rather than square. I want to be able to import them without having air blocks surrounding them. I would turn off "copy air" but then the inside of the structure is filled with dirt. So basically, I want a way to import it while keeping the interior air blocks, but not the exterior ones, so when imported, it doesn't take out huge chunks of ground where it doesn't need to.
The last one might not make sense, but I don't really know how to explain it well...

Yes fixed it for me, I had firefox and was unable to view thread, thanks Codewarrior!
Okay, I'm having trouble finishing my map.
I need to make a spawnpoint in a room above ground, I change it, and I don't spawn there, instead of I spawn on the top of the bedrock walls I made surrounding the area.
I saved it too.
I am using the Stable v30 release of 32BIT MCEdit.
I'm trying to finish my farm survival map, but I've had this problem ever since the first version.
It's really annoying, I cant put my spawnpoint anywhere.
Oh and I'm using 1.8.1 of course.

No, you can't put your spawnpoint just anywhere.
Did you disable the "Spawn Point Safety" option?
If not, can you give me the XYZ coordinates of the attempted spawn point? It would be best if you could post a screenshot after pressing '0' for the debug display and pointing at the attempted spawn.
I can't find the spawn point safety option, if its on by default, then its already on.
I've never even knew there was an option for spawn point safety..

I've got a Farm Survival map, right here..
Check it out.
Do I put it in the block I want them to spawn in, or above (I've tried both)
Oh and sometimes (most of the time) when I go like 1-5 chunks out of where I start in MCEdit, it's lag villa.

Well, here's the root of the problem:
Minecraft won't let you put your spawn point anywhere.
We've already figured out that you can't put it below Y=64, and the "Safety" option will prevent you from doing that. It looks like you found another place where Minecraft won't let you spawn. Why don't you do some experimenting for us, and try to make a short list of places where you can and cannot spawn in your map. ("Cannot spawn" meaning that Minecraft moves your spawn point over to the bedrock wall.) For each place, find the XYZ coordinates, the types of surrounding blocks, the light level, and anything else that you think could be notable.
I tried making a small room like yours at the coordinates shown in your screenshot, but couldn't reproduce the problem - Minecraft respawned me there without issue.
Have a very complicated question to ask: Is it possible to remove a building I build in a saved game for 1.7.3 and transplant it into my saved game for 1.8.1? When all the mods I previously have get updated, that would be well worth donating to see.

Try the newest version and do the same thing again. It should get as far as printing "RELEASE:" with this one.
