Well I brought it down to 121 because I kept getting an error at 120 and got it flipped right side up and imported it~! Buuuuuuuuut it got cut off half way through building it. lol, any suggestions of good map builders that I can make the world SUPER short? heh...
One option is to use the Clone tool to move the terrain downward. You can also use WorldPainter to create a new world.
no I haven't used mcedit before and there is not another error when it crashes. Is it because I have minecraft 1.6.6 instead of 1.7.2
Sadly, I can't tell what's going wrong just from that info. It's definitely not the Minecraft version. One thing you could try is to uninstall and then reinstall the Visual C++ Redistributable 2008 (there's a link in the downloads if you need it).
But still, actual MC Extended support would really be appreciated.
I'll have to try out that mod someday so I can find out how much work it would be. You don't happen to have a download handy for a MC Extended-enabled world, do you?
Smashstick: You're welcome! I'm glad you're having fun with it.
Voxel Day: Until you get that command, you'll have to approximate that with something like Clone-Replace-Clone. Right now I'm expanding the Brush tool with more shapes and modes of operation. (One of the new things in Stable11 is a limit on the vertex memory, so it should help to prevent out of memory errors!)
I'm having an issue with installation/getting the program to work.
I'm running Mac OSX 10.5.8 and Minecraft Beta 1.7.2
When I get to the downloads page, I downloaded the first mac option and got the application. When I tried to open it, it would immediately close. I figured I needed to install X11 like the page mentioned, but even after doing that it still immediately closes as soon as I launch the application.
What am I doing wrong? Any help would be appreciated.
I thought up some filters you could add that would be pretty cool.
Age-er: Randomly changes cobblestone to mossy stone in the selected area as to make buildings look older/decrepit. There could be an option to remove some blocks.
Ruins generator: Would make the selected area generate ruins similar to the omen ruins generator. Im guessing you could also choose what blocks the buildings would be made out of and be able to set parameters of the buildings allowed or something.

You failed to do two things:
1. Extract the zip file using Archive Utility
2. Check the Console app for error messages.

It still doesn't work I have installed visual c++ again and tried stable 10 and 11 but it says the same thing please help. I'm using windows XP 32bit and Minecraft 1.6.6
1. Extract the zip file using Archive Utility
2. Check the Console app for error messages.
Oh I had already extracted the zip file using Archive Utility (how else could I have tried to open the application?)
I found the console app, when/how should I check for error messages, and what error messages should I be looking for (if any)?
Thanks again.
EDIT: When I open the console app it only shows "messages from 6/25/10 to 8/10/10". I've never used this application before, is there something I need to do to let it show me current error messages and not outdated ones?
EDIT 2: Okay, I found some error message that would appear in console every time I tried to launch MCEdit:
"Jul 7 19:46:32 my-computer-3 [0x0-0x1a81a8].com.davidvierra.MCEdit[4320]: /Users/allan/Desktop/MCEdit-stable11-OSX-10.6/MCEdit.app/Contents/MacOS/MCEdit: line 9: exec: python2.6: not found
Jul 7 19:46:32 my-computer-3 com.apple.launchd[125] ([0x0-0x1a81a8].com.davidvierra.MCEdit[4320]): Exited with exit code: 127"
I noticed in there it said python2.6 not found, even though I just installed not only python 2.6.6 but X11 and numpy as well.
I saw a few days ago you seemed to be playing with scaling / resizing options. Is that still in progress? I have a giant statue that's about 120 high, and I'd love to make a half-size version of the thing, but it's such a giant pain. If I could scale it down 50% that'd be lovely. I realize it'd probably butcher some of the details and shapes, but it's substantially easier to reshape and retouch a thing than it is to try rebuilding it half-size from scratch.

Make sure python2.6 is actually present, usually at /usr/bin/python2.6. Python2.6 is supposed to be included with 10.5.8, as far as I know. Also try reinstalling python or restarting your computer.

I added the scale option to the Clone tool in stable11 but it can only scale up, not down. I'm going to add the downward scale soon.
I hate to be bothersome but I can't get MCEdit to work. It downloaded fine but when I click on it nothing happens it doesn't even show up on my dock, can anyone help me out?

Hello. I wish to use MCEdit but sadly... it's not working :sad.gif:
I went through all the steps(Moved it to a personal file, made it run-able, ran it)
and it doesn't do anything. When I try to run it, nothing.
i just downloaded mcedit v10.6 with me v10.6.7MacBook for Minecraft v.1.7.2 and when i open mcedit, it bounces in my bar a few times then closes. :sad.gif: how do i fix it?
WARNING: YOU MUST EXIT MINECRAFT COMPLETELY BEFORE EDITING. If you leave Minecraft running while using MCEdit, the clash will corrupt your saves. Why this happens. If you ignore this warning, your map will become laggy and your character will stop moving.
Before You Reply: Be sure to include the exact version number of MCEdit (don't say "latest"), the exact version number of the Minecraft game (don't say "latest"), your Windows/OS X/Linux version, and anything present in the MCEdit log window at the time of your issue. Thanks!
What's new:
Version History
stable11:
- Added block names and rotation info for Pistons and Sticky Pistons
- Brush tool's "Surface" option now places blocks at a fixed distance from the block under the cursor. Use Mousewheel to adjust the distance
- Clone tool now supports dragging on one, two, or three dimensions using the SHIFT key and/or the Mousewheel. Try using the Clone tool's "Place Immediately" option to get a better feel for it.
- Added a time of day setting to the world info window (Ctrl-I)
- Added a "Vertex Buffer Limit" setting to limit the amount of memory taken by the renderer, in megabytes. Default setting is 384.
- Fixed transparency for brush and clone previews (again)
stable10:
- Updated for Minecraft 1.6.5
- Added block info for webs, tall grass, shrubs, and hatches
- Worlds created by Primordial Desert Generator and other generators should load and import correctly.
- Tried to make renderer errors non-fatal.
MCEdit has been in development since June 17, 2010.
If you appreciate the work I've done, please donate.
TrynePlague has made another stellar tutorial, this time showing off the Forester filter.
About
MCEdit is a versatile map editor, designed for moving blocks from one level to another. With it, you can open a level of nearly any type and fly around in glorious 3D with multiple levels of detail! Select millions of blocks and clone them anywhere else in the level. Fill a boxy selection with the block of your choice, or replace one kind of block with another. Export blocks to a "schematic" file for later use. Import a schematic or an entire level into any world using the crane. Move the player or his spawn point. Create and and remove chunks from the world. Fill blackened areas with light. Find bugs!
Remember: Control-Z to undo, Control-S to save.
Tools
Here's a quick overview of a few of the different tools we have:
Selection: Make a selection by marking its corners. Press again to switch corners. Delete blocks or entities, or export the selection to a .schematic file. Brush: Click to fill a shaped area with blocks. Choose brush size, shape, and type of block. Clone: Copies the selected blocks. Click to set the copy down, then press "Clone" to clone. E R F to transform blocks.
Fill: Fills the selection with a chosen block type, optionally replacing another type. R to start replacing, E to swap materials. Filter: Use one of the predefined filters to smooth terrain or change the topsoil, or create your own filter plugin using Python. Crane: Import a Schematic file or an entire level. Use this to convert older levels by importing them into an Alpha world. Player: Click to move the player. May move the player to and from the Nether. Press twice to teleport. Spawn: Click to move the player's spawn. Not available in the Nether. Press twice to teleport. Chunk: Create, delete, and light chunks. Prune away all of the chunks outside the selection.
Your personal schematics are kept in your Documents folder, in a folder named 'MCEdit-schematics'. These are your working copies of the default schematics included in the MCEdit download. Your personal settings for MCEdit are kept in your Documents folder, in a file 'mcedit.ini'.
There are a few Nudge buttons scattered around. To use them, click and hold down on one. While holding the mouse button, use the movement keys (defaults: WASDQZ) to move the related item around. Hold Shift to nudge further.
If you have a powerful computer, press Control-F to see farther.
Note: Most of these pictures are really outdated and the descriptions incomplete. Proceed with caution.
Selection tool:
Mark a selection using blue and yellow cubes. Here is a selection in progress.
A selection.
Brush tool:
Click to place blocks in a pre-arranged formation. Current shapes include Round, Square, and Diamond.
Clone tool:
Quickly copy blocks within the same level. The selected blocks are cloned into the green box and will follow your cursor around until you click.
Click once, and your duplicate blocks are set down and will begin pulsating. Click again to pick them back up.
Use the keys E R F to rotate, roll, and flip the blocks.
Press ENTER or click Clone to expand public housing. The clone is finished when the selection is moved to the newly cloned object.
Fill tool:
When you pick the fill tool, choose a block to fill with. Press ENTER to confirm, or press 'R' to go into Replace mode. In Replace mode, the previous block becomes the block you're getting rid of, and it asks you to choose the block to replace with.
Crane tool:
The crane tool lets you import blocks from different sources: It can place blocks previously saved by the pencil to a schematic. It can import .inv files created by INVEdit as chests. It can import an entire level into another level. It will ask you to choose a level or schematic. After you've chosen, the level or schematic will appear in the green box. The blocks are fully loaded and ready to use, even though they appear slowly. Click to set it down.
As before, you can click to pick the blocks up, and use E R F to rotate, roll, and flip them.
Press ENTER or click Import to construct. Constructions of up to 64 million blocks should take less than a minute. The copy is done once you regain control. You should press Control-S to save your level now. The lighting recalculation for this city took about 3 minutes on a Core i5.
Et voila.
Chunk tool:
When you pick the Chunk tool, the visible selection is automatically expanded to cover all of the chunks it touches. Press Create to create all missing chunks in the selection, ignoring any chunks already present. Press Destroy to remove any chunks within the selection. Use Prune to keep all of the chunks in the selection, and delete the ones outside. All of these will ask you for confirmation because there's no way to undo them.
Finally, you can press Relight to fix any bad lighting within the selected chunks. If other programs leave your level full of black spots, you can fix it with this.
(not pictured: Brush, Player, and Player Spawn tools, DELETE operation)
A few people can't get MCEdit to start up or do anything at all. If MCEdit doesn't work for you, please post here or keep in touch via PM or e-mail. I'll try to work with you and figure out what's wrong.

Are you clicking mcedit.bat?
Sorry for the triple post, but my server is in peril! I need help! All I need is a simple answer!
Get us the error message from Console.
Maybe you need to "Delete Chunks" and then let Minecraft create them.
