Let's leave it at I'm a moron, now to my problem. I'm running Ubuntu and I honestly have no idea how to get the file to run, I went into terminal and sudo installed all the pythons but, yeah go to my first sentence. Thanks in advance for any help you may have.

Not completely. Biomes don't appear in the save files. At best, you can add snow or sand using the crude 'Topsoil' filter.

It ought to work fine, since I'm testing it on 10.6.6 (albeit in a VM). I really need to stop relying on X11 and start using the pretty font renderer that comes with Mac OS.

There is an incredibly shitty move tool in the form of the green 'nudge' button that appears after you make a selection. I'm going to add a better one though.

I have a question. Is it possible to edit items inside a chest with this program? I have tools from kings mod (not yet updated) which make the game crash when i try to open the chest. So i would like to delete or remove those tools.

Since Notch seems to have changed how the world chunks are saved, the edits I make in MCedit no longer show up. If you start a new world in singleplayer, save it, then try to open it with MCedit, you get a blank void.
I downloaded some schematics, specifically the dragon schematics created by... someone (I forgot who, Rose maybe)... And I put them in the schematics folder. But when I open the schematics folder within MCedit to put the schematic in, the dragon schematic I downloaded doesn't show up. All of the prebuilt schematics do, like the monster-in-a-jar schematics, but not the ones that I put in.

EDIT: version 78(not78.1) works with 2.6.

How impossible would it be to support this save format? It really does work VERY well.
Then it closes and nothing else happens.

enter and return are the same, i have a laptop enter key as well and it works fine, may be a glitch for you or something
